Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 328: Chapter 318: Watch Reboot

”This won’t work,” Tang Mo muttered.

”Do you have a plan?” Qin Ling could tell what she was thinking just from her expression.

”I’ll give it a try.”

There’s always a way out. When faced with a challenge, you have to think of a solution, not just throw up your hands and give up.

Tang Mo pulled a projector out of her Space. It was one she had used before, and it was loaded with many of her favorite movies.

There was no electricity here, so the projector couldn’t run. Tang Mo took out a Basic Crystal Stone and used her spiritual power to link it to the device.

’In this day and age, since we have energy sources like Crystal Stones, they should be useful for something, right?’

Tang Mo was only trying it out, using the Crystal Stone to power the projector. But to her surprise, the moment her spiritual power linked the Crystal Stone to the device, the projector actually started working!

Without a proper screen, Tang Mo simply spread a thick white cloth on the empty ground in front of her and projected the movie directly onto it.

The small white cloth was naturally not big enough for everyone to watch, so Tang Mo used her spiritual power to connect the image from the cloth to her protective halo.

The massive golden halo was divided into four huge screens, one in each of the four cardinal directions, and they began to display Tang Mo’s favorite movie.

It was a Stephen Chow film, a very old and classic one.

Tang Mo liked Stephen Chow, not just for his acting, but because behind the humor was the hardship and perseverance of the underdog.

In his movies, even the most ordinary people shone brightly, never giving up no matter what setbacks they faced.

And right now, the people, who felt like trapped animals, needed this kind of spirit more than anything.

At first, Tang Mo had only been experimenting. She had never actually used a Crystal Stone as a power source before, nor had she ever used her spiritual power in this way. She hadn’t expected it to actually work.

When Mr. Xing’s slightly comical voice rang out, all the people with dazed, lifeless eyes seemed to snap out of it, staring at the film playing above their heads.

”Actually, I’m an actor.”

”Sometimes, it’s hard to make sense of rich people’s tastes.”

”Sorry, Brother Sunny! I was just taking a crap, so I couldn’t keep an eye on him.”

”Shit. You’re a piece of shit. Your life is cheaper than an ant’s.”

”I’m the one who should get the Oscar for Best Actor.”

”That’s not true. It’ll be beautiful when the sun comes up.”

It was an old movie, but everyone watched with rapt attention, as if seeing it for the first time, unwilling to even blink.

It wasn’t just the people inside Tang Mo’s protective circle; even those in the territory of the Spirit Attribute Superpower Users outside were watching with rapt attention.

At this moment, Tang Mo wasn’t afraid that the noise and light would attract something terrible. In fact, after hearing Qin Ling’s description of the situation outside, she almost hoped it would draw in some mutant beasts. That would at least give her a better sense of what they were up against.

Once the movie started playing, Tang Mo could clearly feel the atmosphere here had improved significantly. Perhaps it was because everyone had something to distract them, or maybe Mr. Xing’s movies were genuinely inspiring enough to help them rally and feel more positive.

”It seems everyone was just too idle. People overthink when they have nothing to do. It took you to come up with a solution, huh?”

Xu the Third watched the protective circle turn into a giant movie screen, his heart fit to burst with admiration for Tang Mo.

By the time they were on the third movie, everyone could clearly see the figures on the screen growing blurrier, but no one complained. Instead, their faces were filled with anticipation and joy.

Because a blurrier screen meant that day was about to break.

Tang Mo simply turned off the projector and joined everyone in watching the rising sun. After all, what could be more inspiring than watching the sunrise?

The very moment the sun had completely risen, everyone’s ID Watches, which had all been dark, suddenly lit up in unison.

”The ID Watches are working again!”

The restoration of the ID Watches meant that people once again had a way to contact each other and a channel to receive information. The watches, which had been inoperative for so long, were their connection to the world, one of their lifelines in this apocalypse, and a crucial source of security.

Tang Mo stared down at her own watch as well, watching as it gradually lit up.

The interface wasn’t much different from before; the subtle changes made it look as though the watch had automatically updated its system.

At that moment, everyone was carefully examining their watches to see what had changed with this upgrade. They hadn’t forgotten the kind of news the last system update had brought them.

Tang Mo discovered that the upgraded watch seemed to be even further removed from the original human world. It felt more like it was controlled by some mysterious force, and much of the information it now displayed was previously unknown to humanity.

For instance, the description of the Hell Era was quite detailed. On the watch, the Hell Era was also called the ”Reboot Ice Age.”

’Ice Age,’ everyone knew what that meant. ’Reboot Ice Age’ perhaps implied that the world’s temperature wouldn’t just stop where it was now, but would continue to fall until the entire planet reverted to its original glacial state.

Seeing the name ”Reboot Ice Age,” everyone couldn’t help but shiver.

Tang Mo continued to read. In this era, it wasn’t just the plummeting temperatures that posed a threat to humanity; there was another, equally grim problem.

Hunger.

As everyone knew, in an increasingly cold environment, plants couldn’t grow, regardless of the soil or agricultural technology.

Furthermore, the increasing scarcity of mutant beasts meant that people were losing their primary source of food—hunting by relying on their own strength.

Here, Tang Mo had another thought. ’The watch’s information says that mutant beasts are becoming rare, but it doesn’t say they’ve completely vanished.’

’So where are the few rare mutant beasts that remain? Have their powers increased drastically? And do they pose a huge threat to humanity?’

She had to keep these questions firmly in mind, constantly reminding herself not to let her guard down.

Besides the information about the Hell Era, the most significant addition was the information about the Five Beads.

Here, all sorts of information about the Five Beads was laid out clearly, from the energy they contained to various matters concerning their fusion.

There was an image depicting five different colored beads. Three of them were lit up, one was in a state of being half-bright and half-dim, and the last one was completely dark.

The meaning was clear: three beads had already been fused, and another had been found but not yet fused.

Only the Space bead was still out there somewhere, waiting to be discovered.
