Reborn As Noble

Chapter 1287: Shadows and Sunlight ( 1287 )

Just as he was about to activate his dimensional storage and pull out his mana portable computer, a soft crackle came from his mana talkie.

”Javier.”

Javier flinched slightly before tapping his mana talkie, replying in a low voice.

”Yes, Esteemed Father?”

”I assume you’re watching the outsiders.”

”Yes, Esteemed Father. By now, I’ve been monitoring their movements and analyzing their behavior. I’ve identified a few key figures, including one who appears to be their strategist.”

”Mm... good.” Garius paused, his tone carrying a rare hint of approval. ”The new function you installed is remarkable. The clarity and detail are beyond anything we’ve had before. But I wonder if there’s a way to hear what they’re saying and discussing. Even with lip reading, it’s not always accurate. If we had a way to capture their conversations directly, it would give us a significant advantage.”

Javier nodded, mumbling softly.

”I’ve already sent a micro bug drone into their camp. It’s a tiny audio device that records sound and transmits it through the mana satellite. I was about to set up a live feed so we can hear their conversations in real time. I also have recordings of their previous discussions ready. If you want, I can send the audio files directly to your mana portable computer.”

”Mm... good. Send me the files so we can analyze their conversations and identify any useful information.”

”Yes, Esteemed Father. I’ll send them once my portable computer is ready. I’m setting it up now.”

”Mm... Anyway, don’t blow your cover. And don’t try to confront the outsiders unless you are forced to. Your role is to observe and gather information, not to engage.”

”I understand, Esteemed Father. I’ll remain in the shadows and avoid unnecessary risks.”

”Good. I’m waiting for the audio files. Contact the command center once you’ve set up the live feed for the audio.”

”I will, Esteemed Father.”

”And one more thing.”

”Yes, Esteemed Father?”

”If you can think of a way to bring that tactician to meet me, it would be beneficial. Someone of his position would likely possess the information we need. A direct ’conversation’ with him could save us a great deal of time and effort.”

Javier paused, a faint smirk forming on his lips.

”I’ll think of a plan for it, Father. Leave it to me.”

After the conversation ended, Javier’s eyes remained fixed on the mana portable computer, his fingers moving swiftly across the glowing interface. He typed complex magic coding, a language only he, Garius, and Francesca could fully understand, setting up the live audio feed and linking it to the mana satellite and Sky Eyes system.

Alright. Just need to wait for it to finish linking with the mana satellite, the Sky Eyes feed, and the command center’s system.

Growl~

Javier glanced down at his stomach before hearing an even louder, more insistent growl.

”Buddy?”

”Cuquawked~”

”You hungry, huh?”

”Cuquawked.”

Javier rubbed the back of his head, smiling sheepishly. ”Haha... I’m hungry too. But we can’t just use money to buy more food. We just bought a few things earlier, and a real beggar wouldn’t have that much coin to spend freely.”

He exhaled, his mind drifting.

If Liana and Gloria were here, I could ask them to buy some food for us. They could make it look like they’re giving me money out of pity or lending it to me. That would keep my cover intact.

I wonder if they’re still at the royal palace?

He sighed softly.

I can’t force them to rush here. Liana’s youngest sister, Lyzia, contacted me earlier, asking permission for Liana to stay longer since they rarely meet. And it’s true... Liana and Gloria rarely go home. The last time they visited the Elven Nation was years ago. I can’t just drag them away from their family reunion.

Javier chuckled softly, still hidden under Buddy’s wing.

Well...

At first, I was supposed to be here alone without them tagging along.

So I should manage on my own.

He snapped his fingers, and a small dimensional storage portal appeared in front of him.

Well... at least I can feed Buddy some ready-to-eat meals.

”Buddy?”

”Cuquawked?”

”Can you tuck your head under your wing for a moment? So I can feed you without anyone noticing?”

”Cuquawked!!” Buddy’s eyes lit up as he quickly tucked his head under his wing, his body shifting slightly to create a small hidden space.

Javier reached into the dimensional storage and pulled out a huge slab of roasted meat, holding it up toward Buddy.

”Make sure no one notices you eating this, okay?”

”Cuquawked!!” Buddy’s beak shot out, snatching the meat in one swift motion and swallowing it whole, his feathers ruffling with satisfaction.

Javier grinned, patting Buddy’s side. ”Good boy~”

After finishing feeding Buddy in secret, Javier stood up and stretched his arms above his head, glancing around the town square. He looked up at the towering trees and the elegant elven architecture in the distance.

”Buddy?”

”Cuquawked?”

”Elven Nation is really different from any human region, huh? Even different from Armand.”

”Cuquawked.” Buddy bobbed his head in agreement.

Javier smiled, his eyes sweeping across the scenery, where massive ancient trees rose high into the sky, their branches stood tall, blending seamlessly with nature.

Even in the town, the architecture was different from human settlements. The elegant curves of the buildings, the intricate carvings, and the seamless integration of stone and wood.

”This place is beautiful. The air is so fresh and clean, and the scent of the forest mixed with morning dew... it’s really calming.”

He put both hands on his hips and inhaled deeply before letting out a satisfied breath.

”Well... let’s explore a bit.”

Javier started walking with both hands behind his head, his posture relaxed as he strolled through the market area. Buddy followed closely behind, his head held high and his beak pointed forward.

”Look at that stall, Buddy. They sell fruits I’ve never even seen before.”

”Cuquawked.”

”And those elven sweets... I bet they’re amazing.”

”Cuquawked!!”

The elves around them glanced at the young man passing by, followed by his huge orange pekko. Some let out amused exhales, while others chuckled and shook their heads.

”Looks like the beggar is talking with his pekko again~”

”Yeah~”
