Reborn As Noble

Chapter 899: A Night of Choices ( 899 )

But tonight, thanks to Felicia, Mimi, and Delya fighting for their turn, things went differently.

Since the argument showed no signs of ending, Liana had to step in and stop it. Gloria just sighed as she agreed the bed could only fit three.

And now, because of that, he’d ended up alone for the night. All their beautiful, silly bickering meant nobody got what they wanted.

He lay there, staring at the ceiling, caught between amusement and misery.

Guess I really need to make a new, bigger portable house, with enough space for all of us. This is getting ridiculous.

He was happy to have that kind of attention, to be adored by the beauties in his harem. But nights like this, when none of them could agree and he ended up sleeping alone, reminded him how much he never wanted to go back to loneliness.

Why can’t they just settle on a schedule or something? Or pick someone, anyone, to stay...

He exhaled and rolled onto his side, missing their touch more with every passing moment.

Javier scratched his head in frustration, the silence pressing down on him. He sat up and ran a hand through his hair. The faint light from the shelter’s panel cast soft shadows on the wall.

If this keeps up, I’ll never get any sleep. How am I supposed to be ready for tomorrow?

He reached over to the small table beside his bed, fingers closing around the familiar shape of his mana talkie. He slipped it into his ear and channeled a touch of mana. The device hummed quietly to life.

I hope she’s still awake... Though knowing her, she probably fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. And even if she is awake, would she really bother putting the mana talkie in her ear at night?

He sighed, thumb hovering over the rune.

...Whatever. Worth a try.

He tapped the device, focusing on the subtle connection.

”Liana... you there?” he called softly, his voice just above a whisper, hoping the signal would reach her.

Meanwhile...

In the next shelter, Liana stirred, her eyes fluttering open as if pulled by some invisible thread.

Did... Young Master just call me?

She blinked in the darkness, the familiar warmth of the others nearby not quite enough to fill the space beside her. Her hand reached out, fingers brushing over the mana talkie resting on the small table at her side.

She smiled to herself.

There’s no way he’d call me at this hour... He must already be asleep... right?

But then again... she knew Javier too well. He never truly slept well unless she or Gloria was beside him. Even now, after so many years, that hadn’t changed.

Liana hesitated, then reached for the mana talkie, slipping it gently into her ear, her heart beating a little faster with quiet anticipation.

Just in case...

She paused, a soft, knowing smile curving her lips as she listened to the quiet, almost hesitant sound of Javier’s voice in her ear.

Glancing around the dark room, Gloria, Felicia, Mimi, and Delya all asleep, peaceful and oblivious, she moved with practiced grace, slipping out from under the covers without disturbing anyone. Her nightdress trailed lightly along her legs.

She crossed to the door and eased it open, stepping outside into the cool night air.

The big Pekko, Buddy, stirred and blinked at her. Liana pressed a finger to her lips, her eyes twinkling. ”Shh...” she whispered. ”Let’s keep this between us, alright?”

Buddy ruffled his feathers, settling back down with a contented rumble.

Javier’s voice came again, softer, with a hint of need in his tone. ”Liana... you there?”

She tapped her mana talkie, her reply just as soft. ”Yes, Young Master?”

”You... still not sleeping?” His voice was quiet, a touch hesitant.

”Mmm~ I just got out from the bathroom. Why, Young Master?” Her voice carried a gentle, teasing warmth.

A pause. Then, his voice grew a little more hesitant. ”Can you come here?”

Liana’s heart fluttered. She smiled to herself, stepping lightly across the grass.

”Mmm~ I’m already in front of your shelter~” she replied, her voice lilting with affection.

She stopped at his door, folding her hands in front of her, waiting with serene patience and a gentle, excited smile.

A thought flickered through her mind.

Tomorrow will be chaos when they all find out I slept with Young Master.

But I’m the first wife anyway.

When the door opened, Liana barely had time to react. Javier reached out, pulled her inside, and closed the door quietly behind them. In one swift, breathless motion, he pressed her gently onto the bed, his hands planted on either side of her as he leaned over.

She lay there, heart fluttering, gazing up at her young master...no, her chosen man...who now hovered above her, his eyes full of longing and something deeper.

A soft smile touched her lips. Her hand reached up, fingers brushing his cheek, delicate and warm.

”You finally decided to make me yours completely?” she whispered, her voice trembling with affection and gentle daring. ”No more holding back, Young Master?”

Her words were soft, but her eyes held a quiet, unwavering invitation, full of trust, love, and the promise of everything she had waited for.

”Or... do you still want to wait?” she teased, her voice dropping to a low, playful whisper. ”Are you going to keep making us wait?”

Liana let her hand linger against his cheek, thumb brushing lightly over his skin. ”It’s your choice. If you want to wait another three years, I’ll be patient. But... just so you know, tonight is your only chance~”

She smiled up at him, a glint of playful challenge in her eyes. ”This elf is right here beneath you. Not in a maid dress. Not resisting. Wearing something you could remove with a single touch.”

A playful glimmer lit her eyes. ”No more peeking while I’m in the shower. No more using that invisible magic just to watch us change.”

She smiled, a little mischievous, a little vulnerable. ”I’m here, Young Master~”

Her voice trembled with feeling, brimming with hope and longing. ”You don’t need to wait for our wedding day. If you want to claim me, you can. I’ve waited long enough.”

His hands hesitated for a moment before growing bolder, exploring her curves, tracing the delicate lines of her waist, the gentle arc of her hip, then slipping to the small of her back to draw her closer. The heat of his body, his scent, the deep rhythm of his breathing, all of it overwhelmed her senses.

She gazed up at him, seeing not just the boy she had served and protected since childhood, but the young man she loved. The only man she ever wanted.

Her first love.

Someone she truly, deeply loved. Someone who, even now, still carried that shy, stubborn promise made so many years ago, a promise only she remembered.

”I don’t mind, Young Master...” she whispered, her fingers tracing a slow, loving line along his jaw, her smile tender and aching. ”Just don’t forget... you promised me, back when you were still just a boy, to make me your first wife.”

Her heart raced in anticipation, waiting for him to decide.
