Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1532: Chapter 892: Nanny Lu vs. Great Grandpa (2)

”If you had shared your thoughts from the beginning, Great Grandpa would absolutely not blame you. You’re aware of Great Grandpa’s temperament, so why go around in so many circles?”

”Young Master Sun, it’s all my fault. The older I get, the more apprehensive I become, and I act with much trepidation and caution.

Especially after hearing about Jiacheng’s unemployment, I’m particularly afraid of losing this job too. It’s... it’s like I’ve become possessed.”

”Forget it.” Grandpa waved his hand, ”Nanny Lu, originally, I could have agreed to let you bring them in, but with this overdone action, I think there’s no need for me to do this because of you, do you understand what I mean?”

Nanny Lu lowered her head in shame. She understood, of course, that Grandpa, living in the Wen Mansion, had the right to bring people in.

But she also knew that if Grandpa did this, he would have to be responsible for his actions. In other words, Wen Mansion is a private residence, although a place many desire, it is never open to tourists.

If her son’s family sneaked in and took photos or leaked any information, Grandpa would have to bear the responsibility, or rather, the Ye Family would have to bear the responsibility for such a matter.

Understanding this reasoning was why she initially thought of asking Luo Ye to grant her this wish. Only, it didn’t work out.

What she did was also an act of desperation as a mother; when her son and daughter-in-law came up with this idea, she had to try to fight for it.

Moreover, if it could indeed be done, her son and daughter-in-law would spend more time coming back to the country in the future. With this thought, she felt even more torn. Her son is clearly unemployed, but he doesn’t consider returning to the country. How will the days ahead be?

If it weren’t for worrying about all of this, she wouldn’t have lost her composure completely today.

”You stay here, Xiao Xuan will accompany me to the main mansion.” As Grandpa spoke, he got up and walked outside, and Ye Xuan quickly followed out.

At the door, Grandpa sighed softly, ”Xiao Xuan, send someone to follow her tomorrow. If needed, lend a hand.”

Ye Xuan nodded, ”I will, Great Grandpa. You clearly care about her thoughts, so why act so cold in front of her?”

”Nonsense!” Grandpa glared at his great-grandson, quickening his steps.

Ye Xuan shook his head helplessly, then shook it again when he thought about it. This matter is indeed unlikely. Even if there is goodwill between the two elderly, some things, given the disparity in status, can’t be done as one pleases.

Even at Grandpa’s age, it’s impossible.

One wrong step, and each step becomes risky. Grandpa would never create unnecessary risks for the Ye Family.

However, thinking about it carefully, he realized that the relationship between these two is indeed incredibly complex. Calculating it, the change in relationship between Grandpa and Nanny Lu seems to have only started this past year.

When Grandpa hadn’t recovered, Nanny Lu took care of him meticulously, as if he were a child. After his recovery, she continued to care for him inside and out.

At the beginning, he didn’t notice any difference in the relationship between the two elderly compared to before. It was only recently that he discovered that at some point, when they were together, it seemed to always carry a heavy atmosphere of tension.

It felt like a quarreling couple.

If it were before, Nanny Lu definitely wouldn’t have dared to make such a request to Grand Old Master Ye.

As soon as they reached the entrance of the main building, laughter could be heard, and Grandpa’s solemn expression slightly relaxed.

Ye Xuan quietly let out a breath. When the old man gets angry, the pressure is too intense, even someone as close as him finds it hard to bear.

”Xiao Xuan.” Grandpa suddenly stopped, glaring at Ye Xuan, ”If you talk nonsense again in the future, see how I deal with you.”

”Yes.” Ye Xuan knew well what Grandpa meant and immediately pledged, ”Rest assured, I won’t tell anyone about this. Only you, me, the heavens, the earth, and Nanny Lu know.”

”You...”

”Great Grandpa, Nanny Lu really does know. I can’t omit her.” Ye Xuan said helplessly, spreading his hands, ”This matter, we can’t deny it. You’re aware of that.”

”You rascal!”

”Great Grandpa, can you tell me, how do you feel about this?” Ye Xuan started to push his luck a bit.

”What feelings?” Grand Old Master Ye gave him another glare, then sighed softly, ”Nanny Lu’s had a tough time. In her early thirties, Lu Zhengping passed away, and she had to raise a child alone.

If she hadn’t coincidentally been recruited into the Ye Family, her and her child’s lives would be problematic. Moreover, those years, I was in a state of confusion. For her to stick by me for so many years, even with pay, wasn’t easy.

So, no matter the reason, in matters concerning her, we should help her as much as we can, Xiao Xuan. At Grandpa’s age, where’s the passion?

Sometimes when I talk to her without a kind tone, it’s not because anything has changed between us, but because as she grows older, it seems like her patience has diminished.

If I don’t remind her constantly, she might think more highly of herself than she should. Anyway, I just want to lend her a hand, you understand?”

”Great Grandpa...” Luo Ye suddenly appeared in front of them, blinking large eyes at Grandpa, ”Great Grandpa, I really... really admire you!”

”Where did you jump out from?” Grandpa’s old face turned red, ”Hurry and say, where were you hiding just now?”
