Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 135: Chapter 96-97 Suspicion/Master is from the Ye Family

”Alright, I’ll stand still and not fight back, you can start now.” After testing Luo Ye’s strength, Ye Xuan nodded to signal for him to make a move.

Mou Ye’s teeth itched with hatred, the leisurely expression on his face clearly indicated—she was being belittled!

Damn it, since it’s like this don’t blame her for being impolite. Just as she was about to make a move, she thought twice, considering he had helped her quite a lot, it wouldn’t be good to make him lose too much face. Better to test the waters first with the Sanda techniques she’d practiced, yet she used full force.

Ye Xuan stood firm like a rake, taking Luo Ye’s punches with ease, still wearing a relaxed and composed expression. Mou Ye felt suffocated, perhaps she was being oversensitive, he probably didn’t need her to save his face. In his eyes, she must appear as insignificant as a soft bean sprout, right?

In reality, Ye Xuan was far from as calm as he appeared on the surface. Though he had noticed the girl secretly working hard, he hadn’t paid much attention before. Now, he understood he couldn’t regard her as a weak woman. Ordinary men would not be a match for her, not even in groups of three or five.

Luo Ye’s eyes shifted, switching to the boxing techniques taught by her master, unleashing a new round of attacks. The confusion in Ye Xuan’s eyes deepened. When Luo Ye executed a fierce series of moves, he rapidly called out: ”Stop!”

Luo Ye, enjoying her offensive, reluctantly halted and gave him a sidelong glance: ”What? Can’t take it anymore? You said yourself to stand still and not retaliate. Having second thoughts?”

”Who did you learn your boxing from?” Ye Xuan looked at Luo Ye with a hint of expectancy.

”I...” Just as she was about to reveal her master’s identity, a thought struck her, and she quickly put on a frivolous smile: ”I taught myself. Is that a problem?”

”Not good!” Ye Xuan’s expression became serious in an instant: ”Tell me the truth, who did you learn it from?”

Luo Ye felt displeased: ”Ye Xuan, aren’t you being too overbearing? I said I taught myself, and that’s what I meant. You agreed to be a sparring coach, why cause so much trouble?”

”Ye’er, I’m sorry if my attitude wasn’t right, but...” Ye Xuan softened his tone: ”I’m asking because the technique you used is precisely our Ye Family Boxing, and some of the basic routines aren’t surprising, but the last one called Ye’s Thirty-Six Forms is only available to official disciples of the Ye Family. Outsiders couldn’t possibly know it.

You said you taught yourself, that’s even less likely. I can guarantee with my personal integrity this technique has never been leaked; don’t argue that you created it yourself. It’s exactly the same as the Thirty-Six Forms. If you were me, would you believe it?”

Luo Ye’s heart sank; indeed, the technique was taught to her and Luo Feng by their master after they formally became disciples. It seemed her feeling earlier was correct, the master must be part of the Ye Family, but without the master’s consent, she couldn’t reveal this.

”Ye’er, tell me the truth, I, Ye Xuan, owe you a huge favor, I will repay whenever you want.” Seeing Luo Ye silent, Ye Xuan pleaded again.

”You...” Luo Ye frowned slightly: ”Brother Ye, you’re a smart person, I don’t want to play tricks and make excuses. Let me think about it, okay?”

Ye Xuan urgently grasped Luo Ye’s arm, feeling a bit impolite, he quickly released her: ”Ye’er, I never beg people, this time, please consider it a request from me, okay?”

Luo Ye lowered her head: ”Brother Ye, don’t do this, it puts me in a difficult position.”

Ye Xuan sighed softly: ”Ye’er, I won’t hide it from you, in recent years, the Ye Family has mainly focused on business and politics, and our martial arts standards have declined compared to the past, but the criteria for accepting disciples are stricter. Only the eleven Ye brothers have the right to take disciples, and after accepting a disciple, they must report immediately to the Family Head. If I guessed right, the one who taught you the boxing techniques should be my Seventh Uncle, Ye JiaPing, who has been missing for seventeen years.

Over the years, the Ye Family has been searching for Seventh Uncle, but every time there’s a clue, he immediately disappears. Every New Year’s festival, Grandpa and Grandma stare at Seventh Uncle’s photo and space out. Grandpa’s already 73 this year, Grandma is 71, how many more years can they wait? Ye’er, you understand what I mean, right?”

”Brother Ye, I understand,” Luo Ye hesitated slightly: ”But, one must have integrity. Give me some time to think about it, I’ll give you an answer tomorrow, okay?”

”Ye’er, you must be thinking of consulting Seventh Uncle’s opinion, right? But, I’m worried, after you ask, he might immediately disappear again.” Ye Xuan’s deep eyes locked onto Luo Ye: ”If we were Seventh Uncle’s enemies, your actions would be considered loyal and righteous, but we are his kin, and by doing this, you’re actually helping Seventh Uncle avoid us.”
