Percy Jackson: The Firstborn

Chapter 59: Chapter 59: The Great Biblical War

With the destruction of the Shinju’s will, victory did not even have time to register in Damon’s mind. The thought barely brushed against his head for an instant, too occupied as he was trying to repair the damage to his body after forcing a power that a mortal vessel should never have been able to withstand.

The Bijuu remained silent. What they had just witnessed had been, to them, only a small glimpse of what Damon was truly capable of. In that moment, they understood something with complete clarity: they would follow him to the ends of the earth if necessary.

But that thought did not last long.

The Gap began to tremble.

At first, it was subtle, just a strange vibration moving through those distorted currents, as if something enormous had stirred somewhere far away. Then the sensation became clearer, heavier, and Damon, who was still stabilizing his body with the help of senjutsu, registered the presence of something absurdly powerful approaching his position at a terrifying speed.

Damon’s eyes widened sharply.

”Shit.”

He quickly moved toward the pale woman, who was still unconscious after losing her connection to Zetsu. He looked at her for a second, and an irritating thought crossed his mind.

”What the hell am I supposed to do with this woman?”

He did not want to simply leave her there.

”You can seal her in your mind space with us... at least for now, unless you want to carry her some other way,” Gyūki said urgently.

Damon nodded without wasting any more time and began drawing Kaguya into his mind space with the help of several seals.

But before he could finish, a presence appeared behind him.

Silent, and yet heavy enough to make his entire body tense.

”Who are you... and why did you invade my home?” a flat voice said behind him.

Damon only slightly turned his head.

And what he saw made even him go still for an instant.

A little girl, black hair, completely black eyes, and an absurd presence. He did not need anyone to tell him her name.

Ophis.

The real problem was that she was looking at him as if he were not a threat... but neither someone worth any real interest.

Damon did not lower his guard. On the contrary, every part of him tensed at once. Even in his current state, he could feel it clearly: that woman was on another level.

But Damon was not someone who backed away just because the enemy was monstrously strong. If there was one thing he had learned throughout his lives, it was that even the most absurd beings could be confronted.

The problem was the consequences.

He knew that, using all his power, he had no reason to fear fighting Ophis... but he also knew perfectly well that a fight like that could drag in far more than just the two of them.

He opened his mouth, perhaps to say something, perhaps to try to get out of the situation without making it worse, but Ophis did not seem interested in talking.

She raised her hand.

Damon reacted immediately, chakra and power within him moving almost by pure instinct, but the space around him twisted before he could do anything useful with it.

The force struck him head-on, throwing him away from Ophis’s home with a kind of ease that had nothing to do with weakness and everything to do with one simple truth:

she had not even bothered to fight.

The first thing Damon registered was the sound.

Screams. Explosions. The clash of metal. And mixed in with all of that, what he immediately recognized as magic tearing through the air.

Then, the sky.

His eyes adapted quickly, and what he saw below him made his expression harden.

The earth itself seemed to burn under bursts of holy light. Craters marked the ground where magic had struck. Winged figures filled the sky: some with white-feathered wings, others with wings black as midnight, and others with wings like a bat’s, formed from dark energy.

Damon instantly recognized what he was looking at.

Angels. Fallen Angels. Devils.

And with that, he also understood exactly what he had fallen into.

The war between the Biblical factions.

Amaterasu had already told him about that conflict in one of their private conversations. A war of that scale affected even her allies in the supernatural world.

Seen up close, the war against the Titans almost looked small by comparison.

Damon remained in the air, some distance away, as his eyes swept across the battlefield.

Below him, the fighting stopped.

Heads lifted toward the sky. Wings froze in the middle of motion. Spells that had been about to be released faded away before they could be completed.

Hundreds of eyes fixed on him.

”You’d better get ready, because this is about to get ugly,” Damon told the Bijuu mentally, who until that moment had remained silent, fascinated by what they were seeing.

And then Damon felt it.

Two presences. One heavy and crushing, as if law and order themselves had taken form and descended upon the world surrounded by light.

The other was different, darker. Like an abyss aware of itself, filled with pride, defiance, and a freedom so fierce it bordered on madness.

Damon’s eyes narrowed.

He knew those presences.

His mother, Rhea, had told him about them, and Izanami had confirmed that they truly existed, warning him about certain powers outside Shinto.

Elohim and Lucifer.

The two pillars of the Biblical Faction.

Below, one of the angels, clad in golden armor, with six wings spread wide and a sword wrapped in white flames, raised his weapon.

”Identify yourself!”

Damon did not respond.

The angel frowned. Perhaps out of pride, he assumed that this unknown figure was nothing more than another intruder in the middle of the battlefield. The next instant, he shot toward Damon, sword wrapped in white fire, all six wings beating hard as he tore through the air.

But Elohim knew better.

From the moment that presence appeared above the war, he felt that something was wrong. That power did not belong to any of the three factions.

And when he saw Uriel rush toward him, his expression changed.

”Uriel, don’t do it!”

Too late.

Uriel crossed the distance in an instant, his sword coming down with force.

Damon did not even move. He only raised his eyes.

Uriel stopped dead in the air.

He simply remained suspended a few meters away from Damon, caught in the middle of his charge as if an invisible force had immobilized the space around him. His sword trembled in his hand. He tried to move forward and could not. He tried to retreat and could not do that either.

Then Damon raised one hand. The angel’s eyes widened, but it was already too late.

A dry sound broke the silence as Uriel’s golden armor began to crack. Blood scattered through the air while the archangel’s body twisted under a monstrous, invisible pressure, crushed in the middle of the sky. A second later, his body fell.

Damon watched him descend without expression.

”You should have listened to your leader,” he said
