While Homura plummeted into her self-made abyss, the rest of the cast was far from idle.

Madoka, Sayaka, Mami, and Kyouko were engaged in a desperate struggle against the Nutcracker Witch.

They directed their concentrated magical energy upward, aiming to shatter the crystalline seal of the Soul Gem and pierce the isolation field.

They wanted to expose Homura’s witch form to the outside world, allowing the Law of Cycles to reach her and grant her purification before her soul was lost forever.

”You can’t do this, Homura-chan! Didn’t I tell you not to isolate yourself?” Madoka’s voice echoed.

”No matter what happens, Homura-chan is still Homura-chan. So... please, don’t give up on yourself.”

”I’m sorry... I’m just so useless,” Homura wept. ”But if the alternative is never seeing you again, I would rather shoulder every sin in the universe, as long as you are by my side.”

The bridge of their hearts finally connected. Inside the Labyrinth, a sudden explosion of blooming flowers illuminated the darkness, shattering the barrier. In the real world, the clones surrounding the experiment were pulverized by a volley of divine arrows raining from the heavens.

A bridge of rainbow light descended from the sky. Homura was finally in contact with the world beyond. Madoka, her memories fully restored, descended in her radiant goddess form to welcome Homura into her embrace.

”Phew...”

Bashira finally released the breath she had been holding. ’Thank goodness. The writer actually has a heart after all.’

Homura wouldn’t have to die alone in a cold isolation field. Being purified by Madoka meant she would be saved from the despair of being a witch.

However, the story was far from over.

In the animation, as Goddess Madoka reached out to grasp Homura’s hands to begin the purification, Homura didn’t let go. Instead, a sinister, triumphant smile spread across her face.

The color in her eyes shifted into swirling black. Homura gripped Madoka’s wrists and tore the being apart. She forcibly separated Madoka’s divinity from her humanity.

The Law of Cycles remained an abstract concept to deal with witches across time. But the human soul of Madoka was pulled down, back to Earth, back to Homura’s side.

The Labyrinth didn’t vanish. Instead, it expanded at a terrifying velocity. It swallowed the city, the planet, the solar system, the Milky Way, and eventually, the entire universe. A new field of causality wrapped around the cosmos, rewriting the very rules of existence.

Akemi Homura, the Demon, was born.

Just as Madoka had fundamentally altered the history of the universe to erase witches, Homura now possessed the equivalent power to rewrite reality to suit her own obsession. If Madoka felt forced to become a God to save others, then Homura would become a Demon to save Madoka from that divinity.

The universe reset.

In the new world, Madoka was once again a normal student, a transfer student entering Homura’s class. Mami, Kyouko, and Sayaka were all alive and well, attending school together in a world where Nightmares were the only threat.

”As I am now, I am a Demon. A being who disrupts and ravages the order of this world.”

That was Homura’s own definition of herself.

Madoka had sacrificed her life to create a world without witches; Homura had sacrificed her soul to ensure that Madoka could live as a human girl again. Even if her twisted methods would one day make her the enemy of the entire world, she didn’t care.

”Perhaps one day, you will become my enemy,” Homura whispered as she watched Madoka under a clear blue sky. ”But it doesn’t matter. Even then, I will continue to pray for a world where you are happy.”

The conversation between the human Madoka and the demonic Homura came to a conclusion on a bright, sunny afternoon.

Bashira sat paralyzed, her eyes red, staring at the screen as the words ”Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Rebellion Story - End” appeared.

She felt physically drained. Her heart felt hollow and heavy at the same time.

Was this... a happy ending?

No. It was merely Homura’s ideal version of a happy ending. But it was undeniable that on the foundation of the world Madoka saved, Homura had found a way to save Madoka herself.

”I can’t believe... he actually wrote it like this.”

Bashira’s mind was a total blank.

Even though the credits were rolling, there were so many questions. How did Homura manage to manifest enough power to suppress a God? How did she manage to tear the divinity away from the Law of Cycles?

She instinctively reached for her phone and opened the AniSphere anime forums.

”I’m stunned. The Madoka movie is... it’s god-tier. It’s even more brilliant than the TV ending.”

”Okay, but seriously, how the hell did Homura become a Demon?”

”Did you guys forget the lore? Homura is a being who looped through time for ten years. Madoka had massive karmic debt because she was the focal point of those loops, allowing her to wish for godhood. But Homura was the one creating that karma. Her soul carries an equal amount of weight. When she fell into despair as a witch, that power was enough to rival Madoka. It makes perfect sense in the context of the series.”

”When you put it that way, yeah, it works.”

”I am officially a worshiper of the Warrior of Love. This movie is a masterpiece!”

”What happened to you calling him a Bastard three weeks ago? You were so defiant back then.”

”Different times, man. This movie is the best thing I’ve ever seen. I never expected it to be this good.”

”I waited in line since four in the morning for this disc. Every second of that wait was worth it.”

”If you haven’t bought Volume 2 yet, do whatever it takes. The second half is ten times better than the first.”

”The scene where Homura becomes the Demon... it was so beautiful and so heartbreaking. It’s not the perfect ending, but it’s the only ending that could have satisfied her character.”

”But wait, at the end, Homura asks Madoka if she values order, and Madoka says order is important. I bet those two are going to fight in the future. One is a God, one is a Demon. The next movie is definitely going to be about their fallout.”

”A second movie? Is that confirmed?”

”It has to be! With these sales and this popularity, there’s no way Haru-Yuki Animation is going to stop now.”

”I’m already hyped for the sequel. I need to see what happens next between them. I need it like air.”

”Can we talk about that ending? The Warrior of Love just pulled off the ultimate cliffhanger, didn’t he?”

”Totally. He left it wide open while giving us enough closure to keep us satisfied. I’m just a student with a part-time job, but I’m going to save every yen to support this studio.”

”I used to curse the writer every week. But today, after seeing the end of Rebellion, I finally want to praise him. It turns out all the suffering in the early episodes was just setup for this. He actually created a perfect world.”

”Nothing more needs to be said. The TV series was already a legend. This movie just ascended the entire franchise into the hall of fame.”

”Warrior of Love, you absolute madman.”

”I love this guy! And he clearly loves us too!”

”The forums are going insane. Everyone has lost their minds. Including me.”

By noon, the first wave of viewers had finished the movie.

They were speechless, struggling to find words that could adequately describe the experience. Compared to the launch of Volume 1, the frenzy surrounding the finale was on another level entirely.

Haruto had coordinated with the distributors to crack down on scalpers, but the results were mixed. By mid-afternoon, the internet was still flooded with resellers offering the conclusion to desperate fans at a massive markup. On the AniSphere forums, after over a hundred thousand user ratings, the score for The Rebellion Story sat at an unprecedented 9.9.

The reputation of the film was fermenting rapidly.

Goddess Madoka.

Demon Homura.

These two terms were being memed and discussed across every social media platform.

By nightfall, the official website for Haru-Yuki Animation had completely crashed. The servers simply couldn’t handle the traffic from fans looking for news or merchandise.

The media was equally frantic. Journalists and critics who had secured early copies didn’t even wait for the next morning; they were cranking out articles and reviews at light speed.

Fans and critics spent the night in a state of celebration

Meanwhile, Haruto, Reina, and Yukino, along with the entire Haru-Yuki staff, remained locked in the office until dawn.

The demand for the Blu-rays was so explosive that they were fielding calls from partners and retailers at all hours.

They were physically exhausted and mentally drained. But this was only the first day of the finale’s release. Everyone in the industry knew that the real storm was just beginning.

Over the coming week, the Madoka Hurricane would sweep across the nation, fueled by a reputation that had truly broken every record in the book.
