Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor

When Lucy asked this question, Derek calmly let out a light laugh, his face full of undisguisable pride.

Even by the standards of this world, this result was indeed somewhat strange, but this was what he had been seeking all along, so he had no reason to pretend to be surprised.

Back then, he took the risk with the Unkindly Altar because he wanted to obtain something that could allow Mordred to evolve and evolve more. Now that he had his results, it just proved that he won the gamble. However, Derek suppressed his excitement, because he thought that the altar might give greater results, hidden.

Seeing that he refused to answer and continued to wear that smug and satisfied expression, Lucy stared at him for a while, and accepted that hIs silence itself was the answer.

He was proud of what he had done, and whatever had happened to Mordred was the reason he was pleased with himself.

But Lucy was unwilling to treat this as merely picking up some extra XP for free, because a summoned creature advancing to Mythic Rank was definitely not an ordinary matter!

”How is this possible?” she asked. ”What did you do this time?”

Gaa-hisss—!

The Abomination Slime growled at her, blaming her for raising her voice at Derek, but Lucy didn’t react to its score because her beast was even scarier-looking.

Of course, whether Lilith could defeat Mordred was another matter; but Lucy was ultimately a Beast Tamer, and she would never be frightened just because someone else’s beast looked dangerous.

The Blackstone Bloodline is famous for mothering unsightly beasts, so a frightening appearance was nothing new to her.

Lucy once again reached out to take the Unkindly Chicken-Serpent’s Monster Core, only for Derek to flick it away from her hand with his foot, as if he were playing with a soccer ball.

”Sorry, my Queen, but this is mine.”

The core floated and entered his palm, then he opened another palm, presenting another monster core.

This one was clearly weaker, and so was the quality, but Lucy visibly needed every energy she could get her hands on right now, so she had no qualifications to complain. As long as Derek felt something was valuable, he was willing to fight for it to the end; but she was different. She was exhausted, so she had no intention of wasting her strength in arguing.

She swallowed the retort at her lips, accepted the weaker core, and absorbed it.

Then, through her connection with Lilith, Lucy halved the energy, allowing the Malefic Spider to cultivate together with her within her soul space.

At the same time, Derek, as usual, threw the Unkindly Cockatrice Monster Core to Mordred.

According to Derek: although the Guardian had been killed by Lucy, it was he who had made it become so powerful, so he considered himself qualified to take the monster core.

This logic was both strange and narcissistic, but Derek had never cared whether his reasoning sounded fair to others.

As compensation, he gave Lucy the core of the Boss he had defeated earlier—the Fortified Crocodile.

Mordred swallowed the monster core of the Unkindly Cockatrice, and the dark-red patterns on its body became more visible.

Derek once again revealed a grin and opened his summon’s status.

〖Species: Type-Y Unkindred Slime (Mythic)〗

〖Type: Combat〗

〖Rank: 1.1 | Potential 3.5〗

Derek stared at the new species name for a moment.

He didn’t know what ”Type-Y” meant, and the name ”Abomination Slime,” which he had been using since Mordred’s Late Stage Ancient-tier had disappeared as well.

However, with the words ”Mythic Rank” now appearing in the status bar, he had no problem here!

A Mythic beast is the highest tier of beasts known to mankind.

Possessing such a beast as your own is enough to place the summoner among the very few people recorded in the long river of history who had a Mythic beast.

And Summoners who evolved their own beasts into Mythic Rank, rather than acquiring them just so, were even fewer.

Realizing the meaning of this, Derek clenched his fist.

Now, he had also become one of those people.

Moreover, there was another special point that made his achievement even more unbelievable: Mordred started from the bottom.

From Primal tier to Mythic tier.

And as for the method behind this evolution, only Derek himself knew it, which also made this feat something that, under normal circumstances, should have been absolutely impossible!

However, Lucy was not happy for Derek.

She did not share his vision.

She looked at him and said, ”So, you’re happy now? What use is this to you? Having a Mythic summon can make you become the president of this country, or even the president of this world? Having a Mythic summon doesn’t mean you can no longer be defeated.”

Derek began to laugh hysterically, his excitement completely out of place with the situation around them. ”Lucy, you don’t understand what this means. Having a Mythic Rank Summon? I can lead you, as well as every great family of New Florence, and leave this damned world, heading to a safer haven. I evolved my Summon not only to become the strongest. I did this so that we could become the strongest, to fight against the dimensional forces of all existences.”

Hearing his words, Lucy laughed. ”So, I guess these four students aren’t included in ’we,’ right? Your selective affinity is truly pathetic, and you are also pathetic.”

Derek’s expression changed, repulsed by Lucy’s recriminations. ”What do you mean? I didn’t kill them. It was the Chicken-Dragon that killed them.”

”You brought the Chicken-Dragon here, you idiot!” Lucy rebuked irritatingly. ”You used that filthy Slime of yours and Forbidden Power to awaken it. If you hadn’t done that, we might have been facing an ordinary Guardian, but you made it ten times stronger. They didn’t even have a chance to attack or escape. Their blood is on your hands, Derek!”

”Lucy!” Derek shouted as she began walking away from him.

He was angry, frustrated, and there was also some guilt mixed into his emotions, but that guilt came from Lucy rebuking him and possibly even leaving his party, not from the fact that those students had died.

He shouted at her back several times, but Lucy ignored him and continued walking into the darkness, leaving Derek and his newly evolved Mythic Rank Slime behind in the place.

Derek clenched his fists as the Trial Prompt appeared.
