One-Eyed Monster

”Lord Governor, this time the two Lord Sols went personally; they didn’t take anyone else.”

!!! Louvkat was stunned; what a formation, even the Sol Brothers were dispatched, what’s the leader of the Thunder Army doing going to Guru Mountain?

”I’m relieved they went; we must ensure that the administrative assistant arrives at the Imperial Capital on time.”

”According to the Sol Brothers’ schedule, they should be able to reach Gaga County today.” As the Minister of the Department of Roads, Aevernan naturally had to resolve matters for Lord Governor.

”What’s going on? Why do I always feel like I’m being kept in the dark?” The administrative chief Louvkat could no longer tolerate this kind of treatment. After all, he was an important official in the City Administrative Office, but he was always being left out. In this conference hall, it seemed like he was the only outsider, as everyone else appeared to be well-informed about these matters.

”Administrative Chief, there’s no situation; it’s just to ensure the assistant arrives safely at the City Administrative Office that the Thunder Army was deployed for escort,” Aevernan replied to Louvkat, speaking the truth.

”Who are you fooling? A mere county governor needs the highest command of the Thunder Army to escort him. What’s the situation!” The administrative chief was thoroughly angry; is this level of escort for the Governor’s own son?

”What’s the situation? When that assistant arrives here, you’ll find out,” Rostov smiled lightly, playing coy.

Only then did Louvkat realize that most people in the conference hall were equally uninformed about these matters. Even the representative of the Thunder Army looked bewildered. Clearly, dispatching the Sol Brothers to escort a mere county governor was entirely unexpected.

What on earth is Lord Governor up to?

In the conference hall, the only one who knew about this was Perkins, and even Aevernan, his loyalist, was unaware of why the Sol Brothers were escorting Rostellum; he didn’t know much more than Louvkat.

As for why Perkins knew the intricacies, it started with the Mail Bird.

Originally, the Mail Bird route from the Luona Capital to Guru Mountain had only one line for Elder Rostellum, but Perkins insisted on adding three more lines, one as a backup, and two directly to Guru Mountain.

Why connect to Guru Mountain?

Firstly, Perkins felt that Guru Mountain had become a destination for many small and medium enterprises, making it essential to understand every move of that mountain.

Secondly, Perkins could discuss what’s happening anytime and anywhere with that guy. After all, he hasn’t started writing his memoir yet, or rather, his travelogue; the spectacular scenes of wandering the world must be shared well with the world.

The guy in Perkins’s heart naturally referred to Igor.

Initially, after Igor and Teacher Hadi had a long talk, he decided to return to Guru Mountain, feeling that many secrets originated from this mountain. He wanted to find answers here and also visit friends.

Thus, Igor returned to Guru Mountain again, this time taking a steam car, halving the travel time, and also naturally becoming Luona’s liaison in Guru Mountain. Although most of the time he discussed how to write his travelogue with Perkins using that Mail Bird, the occasional reports also provided crucial information to Luona.

At this moment, Igor was hanging upside down from a tree on Guru Mountain, feeling as if the world was upside down.

His trainer was Joseph, the honored seven-knight with Eagle Eye, now training Igor’s vision.

”I just don’t understand; why hang upside down!” Igor’s legs were hooked around a tree branch, his body stretched straight, sweat rolling down his forehead continuously.

”You need to adapt to visions from all angles; only then can you react like an eagle in case of emergencies,”

”Everything looks upside down when I look!” Igor’s eyes were blurred.

”When you see things upright, you can come down and move to the next stage.”

”Uh... I feel I’ll never have such a day,” Igor said weakly.

”So quick to give up; don’t you want to explore the world?” Joseph interrupted Igor’s complaints with displeasure.

”Don’t be like this, I know I’m wrong; stop adding sandbags to me!” Igor felt deep fear; he was already carrying ten sandbags, considerably increasing the weight; he wasn’t worried about falling, but whether that tree branch could still support him!

”I’m helping you, let you give up sooner, so you don’t suffer here, just break that branch, and you can be free, no need to come here and deal with me, go do whatever.” Joseph was unrelenting; for those trained by him, he was never gentle; before, Kadi received the same treatment.

”I know I’m wrong, I really do!” Igor quickly yielded; he didn’t want to give up halfway.

”Alright, hang for another half hour, then come down and rest; you can go to Moonflow Stream to experience Time Leap; you’ve always liked that.” Joseph smiled, sometimes feeling knowledgeable and sometimes young when with this Igor.

Soon, the half-hour passed, and Igor quickly flipped and jumped down; the branch shook several times but ultimately didn’t break.

”Thanks, Senior Joseph, but was there a Mail Bird flying here today?”

”That Mail Bird is for your communication; asking me, how would I know?” Joseph’s eyes widened, thinking Igor’s question was strange.

”Don’t you have Eagle Eye? What could escape your eyes!” Igor flattered.

”No Mail Bird today; you just contacted yesterday, now thinking of it again, you’d better go back.”

”Isn’t there unfinished business? Perkins and I need to discuss how to write the travelogue; didn’t I tell you about it last time too?” Igor had been on Guru Mountain for over a month; naturally getting along with the mountain’s creatures; initially, the creatures liked him, welcoming his arrival. After reaching the mountain, Igor shared his experiences with Grand Master Guzan and others, whose frowns were tight after hearing, including the concerned Kadi feeling the situation was dire. Yet, despite this, all the mountain’s creatures still chose to trust Kadi.

Regardless if Kadi was the Agent of Destruction mentioned by the Soul Devourer Master, at least on this Guru Mountain, no one treated Kadi as an outsider; they all regarded Kadi as family.

As the liaison officer, Igor naturally conveyed this message to Perkins. It was precisely this start that made Igor act as the City Administrative Office’s eyes while cultivating.
