One-Eyed Monster

On the Border Realm, there was never such a thing as quiet.

The monsters that were originally here were always in a cycle of fighting one another until a strongest emerged, battling across this vast land merely for the title of a strong one.

There was no day or night here, nor mountains or rivers, just a completely expansive land.

No hunger or thirst existed here, only incessant release and collection of energy.

Changes in the Border Realm occur when consciousness enters it.

No matter which world the consciousness came from, it brought a layer of complexity to this originally simple Border Realm.

The Soul Devourers emerged, the Resistors appeared, and the original monsters suddenly had many opponents. The importance of the former strong emerged as the king now seemed diminished, because the appearance of these groups plunged the entire Border Realm into chaos.

Even if the monsters continued fighting, a strongest one might still emerge, but it had no significance because the Soul Devourers would gather en masse to devour the strong one...

Thus, the monsters learned a new lesson, which was not to provoke those groups…

However, the arrogance of the Soul Devourers over the monsters did not last long because the Resistors appeared.

The emergence of this group caused the unrestricted dominance of the Soul Devourers in the Border Realm to retract.

Because if these Soul Devourers continued to strut across the expansive land, it was likely their entire consciousness would be scattered.

The monsters in the Border Realm had witnessed many such scenes, and they seemed to be quite used to it now.

Yet the events of this time bewildered them a bit.

First, the large-scale mobilization of the Soul Devourers startled them. They thought this gang of Soul Devourers was coming for them, especially since many among them had already been caught by the Soul Devourers to serve as mounts or other tools...

But later, they found things were not as they imagined; the group of Soul Devourers directly attacked the always hidden Resistors.

The monsters were puzzled, as the Resistors were usually very difficult to detect; how did the Soul Devourers find them?

This sudden attack by Soul Devourers against the Resistors was already odd enough, but what the monsters didn’t expect was that the Resistors launched a counterattack shortly after being attacked; the response was incredibly swift!

In the eyes of the monsters, the Resistors were much better than the Soul Devourers; this consciousness group would not actively provoke them, nor would they think of devouring or capturing them. They would coexist peacefully without entangling with one another.

The monsters learned the art of hiding from this group of Resistors, enabling them to evade capture by the Soul Devourers...

Yet, in this Border Realm, there were still far too many Soul Devourers; they would inevitably encounter each other inadvertently. It wasn’t so hard with the lower ranks, but the intermediates required aggressive evasion, and high ranks could practically walk freely, with monsters simply unable to compete.

Thus at this moment, the Resistors’ counterattack puzzled the monsters; what ignited their courage to openly confront the Soul Devourers...

The monsters watched as the Soul Devourers were continually scattered by the Resistors across this vast plain...

The Soul Devourers licking fragmented consciousness were suddenly whipped away, the crack of the whip resounded sharply, as if the entire Border Realm was struck by it.

And that wasn’t all; if the lower-ranked Soul Devourers could communicate amongst themselves, they would surely spread the word: beware of that sword-wielding youth, as one sweep of his sword qi could scatter a Soul Devourer—never, never get caught by that sword qi.

The Resistors’ attacks came like waves, whether against low ranks or intermediate ones, now these Resistors would beat the Soul Devourers to death upon sight—almost excessively ruthless!

Furthermore, the Resistors never lingered in battle, retreating immediately after striking, without a moment’s hesitation; when high-ranking Soul Devourers arrived, they found this group of Resistors had long vanished, utilizing their talent for evasion to its fullest; the surprise attacks caught the Soul Devourers completely off guard.

Those intermediate or high-ranking Soul Devourers coming for support didn’t catch the Resistors, feeling somewhat dejected, but the scattered lower-ranked Soul Devourers brought them joy—they indulged in their fondness for devouring, crouching to lick the drifting consciousness.

Just as these intermediate or high-ranking Soul Devourers indulged in the devouring process, the Resistor leaders appeared.

The mighty Mos Brothers, one wielding a knife and the other a hammer, slashed and smashed; nimble Shana always halved the Soul Devourers with her whip, and there’s one youth who constantly unleashed suffocating sword qi… In a short time, those high-ranking Soul Devourers were scattered too…

This counterattack from the Resistors was quite fierce and never protracted; if they spotted a Soul Devourer, they scattered one.

Was this retaliation for the previous large-scale attacks by Soul Devourers?

Was it revenge for those wounded or scattered companions?

No matter the intention of the Resistors, the fact remains that at least now they were boiling with rage.

The rage burned across this Border Realm, causing another chaotic upheaval.

The monsters watched this scene, unknowingly feeling a certain sentiment.

Seeing these Soul Devourers subjected to such a blow, they felt no sympathy at all; instead, there was a peculiar sensation within, as if the more grievously the Soul Devourers were beaten, the more thrilled they became.

It must be said, this feeling was truly exhilarating!

This is the Resistors, indeed! This is truly the Resistors!

They avenge every wrong!

The monsters suddenly felt uneasy all over themselves; the joyful sentiment began to fade after witnessing such scenes, for they always believed that if they were the ones to beat these Soul Devourers, the feeling would be even more thrilling!

After this thought arose, the monsters were unsettled.

They too began to stir.

The whole Border Realm was now not just lively, but carried an unusual atmosphere, like chaos exerting its influence, as if confusion took over the entire Border Realm.

Finally, the Resistors’ actions made the monsters restless; they rushed out of their hiding spots in droves, and the Soul Devourers, at that moment, had to face a thrashing!

Suddenly, flames blazed across the Border Realm and dust flew, the commotion growing ever larger...

”Holy crap!” Mos Brothers frowned.

”What are the Flame Demon and Sand People doing here joining the fray!? Did we provoke them?” Shana was also taken aback.

”No, wait!” Igor sensed the entire land shaking, ”They seem not to be targeting us!”

From afar, Igor and the others saw the monsters launching a direct attack on the Soul Devourers!

”They are the true Resistors of this Border Realm!” Tobin Sol shrugged, evidently equally surprised by this.
