Nine Dragons Saint Ancestor

Chapter 127: 127 The Luck of the Yellow Sparrow

”Pfft!”

The sudden forceful impact caught Shen Xiao completely off guard, and in an instant, tragedy struck. The moment a mouthful of bright red blood sprayed out from his mouth, Feng Hang, who was watching from afar, couldn’t help but reveal a touch of satisfaction in his smile.

Although the two had just joined forces to defeat the Fire Spirit Snake, their ultimate goal was the Fire Spirit Crystal. After dealing with the Fire Spirit Snake, it was inevitable that they would become opponents.

Now, an unexpected event had heavily injured Shen Xiao, and this was a delightful turn of events for Feng Hang. Although he considered himself a notch stronger than Shen Xiao, the outcome of the fight for the Fire Spirit Crystal was not certain.

Seeing that the severely weakened Fire Spirit Snake could still launch such a powerful strike, Feng Hang felt a chill of fear but at the same time was thankful for his own luck.

Because Feng Hang knew that if he had been in Shen Xiao’s place just now, and the Fire Spirit Snake had gone towards another competitor, he would have been unable to restrain himself from attacking as well.

Under those circumstances, the sudden change in the Fire Spirit Snake’s direction was truly unpredictable, and in the face of such a powerful attack, even with Feng Hang’s movement technique, he wouldn’t dare to guarantee that he could have avoided it in time. Otherwise, it would have been he who ended up heavily injured.

”Heh heh, Junior Brother Shen Xiao, thanks for letting me have it!”

Without much hesitation, Feng Hang moved as soon as the words left his mouth, pouncing towards the Fire Spirit Snake that was attempting to return to the magma from another direction, all under Shen Xiao’s dark gaze.

Seeing Feng Hang’s actions and sensing the severe injuries within his own body, Shen Xiao knew he no longer had any power to fight back. He had lost again, this time at the hands of that fellow from the Outer Sect of the Jade Pot Sect who topped the Mortal List.

Of course, Shen Xiao was unwilling to accept this outcome in his heart. It was all down to luck. If the Fire Spirit Snake’s final strike had targeted Feng Hang, victory would have been his. Alas, there were no what-ifs, and he had no choice but to admit defeat.

However, what the seriously injured Shen Xiao failed to notice was that as Feng Hang quickly chased after the Fire Spirit Snake, from within a dark cavern, a faint breath emerged, as if something was stirring restlessly.

At this moment, Feng Hang had eyes only for the fiery red body of magma. He knew his long-sought Fire Spirit Crystal was inside this body of magma.

That last strike had drained the last bit of energy from the Fire Spirit Snake. If it weren’t for outside interference, it could return to the magma to heal, and after several years, it would be a formidable Strange Spirit once more.

Boom!

But unfortunately, Feng Hang would never give it that chance. With his quick movement, he caught up to the magma form of the Fire Spirit Snake in an instant. He launched a fierce Meridian Technique, blasting the Fire Spirit Snake’s magma body and causing it to explode in all directions.

In a sense, the magma of Yurong Volcano was the original form of the Fire Spirit Snake. Only after thousands and tens of thousands of years of evolution and cultivation did it develop a hint of Spiritual Wisdom.

Now, after being hit by Feng Hang’s powerful attack, the Fire Spirit Snake no longer had the strength to maintain its magma body. It burst open, its entire body exploding, and it seemed as though its Spiritual Wisdom was scattered into nothingness by that same strike.

Swoosh!

As the Fire Spirit Snake’s body exploded and drops of magma fell, a fiery red light flashed, making Shen Xiao and Guan Tong, not far away, have faces full of eagerness.

”Fire Spirit Crystal!”

Looking at the crystal that was only the size of a baby’s fist and constantly emitting the aura of the Fire Attribute, both the powerless Shen Xiao and Guan Tong, as well as Feng Hang who was closest, let out a covetous murmur.

Especially Feng Hang, his main purpose for coming here was to obtain the Fire Spirit Crystal. The item that could help him complete the mission and earn two thousand points was now within reach. For a moment, he was somewhat lost in thought and obsessed.

Swish!

Just as Feng Hang was lost in thought, a strange figure suddenly streaked out of nowhere, quickly closing the distance to just a few yards from the Fire Spirit Crystal. It was clear that its target was also that fiery red crystal, the Fire Spirit Crystal.

”Courting death!”

This movement finally snapped Feng Hang out of his reverie. Considering a certain possibility, a sharp cry came from his mouth, and immediately he moved, stretching out his hand to grab towards the Fire Spirit Crystal.

Feng Hang was undoubtedly closer to the Fire Spirit Crystal than the shadow that attacked from the darkness, and with his speed, his chances of reaching the Fire Spirit Crystal first were much greater.

Boom!

However, at this moment, from the depths of the lava beneath Yurong Mountain, a fiery aura exploded suddenly, followed by a geyser-like fountain of lava that shot into the sky, and just by chance, it struck the Fire Spirit Crystal.

Whether it was the remnant Spiritual Wisdom of the Fire Spirit Snake causing trouble, or some kind of energy within the lava that sensed something, the fact was, just as Feng Hang was about to seize the Fire Spirit Crystal, the torrent of lava had already knocked it flying out of reach.

”Dammit!”

Watching the Fire Spirit Crystal that was almost in his grasp being taken away, Feng Hang’s anger was extraordinary. Especially when he saw the direction in which the crystal was sent flying, his face darkened as if covered in soot, and his outrage surged from within, never to dissipate.

Because the place where the Fire Spirit Crystal was launched wasn’t just anywhere, it was exactly where that suddenly appeared figure was positioned. As for this turn of events, that person seemed to be caught off guard as well, but his reaction was lightning-fast, and in a mere instant, he had snatched the oncoming Fire Spirit Crystal into his hand.

All of this happened in a flash, and after a series of rapid and unexpected changes, the owner of the Fire Spirit Crystal had changed. Even Shen Xiao and Guan Tong stood there, dumbfounded, completely unaware of how this twist of fate had come about.

It wasn’t until Guan Tong saw the figure who had appeared, and who now held the Fire Spirit Crystal in his hand—a shabbily dressed young man—that his expression changed drastically, and he exclaimed: ”Yun Xiao?!”

It seems that Guan Tong still had a very deep impression of the young man he had clashed with twice before. Thinking of a possibility, his shock turned into joy, and he sneered to himself, thinking Yun Xiao was really overestimating his abilities.

Ever since Shen Xiao and Feng Hang had shown up, Guan Tong had given up on any thoughts about the Fire Spirit Crystal, even abandoning the idea of taking advantage of a three-way defeat to reap the benefits.

That’s because Guan Tong knew he was no match for the Fire Spirit Snake, let alone these outstanding cultivators from the Outer Sect of Jade Pot Sect.

Moreover, Guan Tong was also aware of their temperaments—they would not tolerate the slightest grievance. Yun Xiao was daring to encroach on their territory; it seemed this time he wouldn’t need to take action himself.

”Yun Xiao?”

The sudden mention of this name made both Feng Hang and Shen Xiao feel unfamiliar. They had been so absorbed in their cultivation for the upcoming Outer Sect tournament that they had not paid attention to the stir that Yun Xiao had caused before and after joining the Jade Pot Sect.

However, when they sensed the Meridian Qi aura emanating from the young man in rough clothes, they both revealed a very strange look. A small mid-stage Meridian Gathering Realm cultivator dared to snatch something from Feng Hang’s hands—it was as if he thought he’d lived too long.

Even Shen Xiao, who had already given up on the Fire Spirit Crystal, was filled with a hint of ridicule at this moment. How was it that this boy, who did not have the qualifications or ability, dared to forcefully take what even he couldn’t obtain? This was simply courting death.

If the Fire Spirit Crystal had been obtained by Feng Hang, Shen Xiao would have had no choice but to acknowledge, despite his reluctance. However, when the Fire Spirit Crystal ended up in the hands of a mere mid-stage Meridian Gathering Realm insect, his sense of imbalance naturally flared up.

”Boy, hand over the Fire Spirit Crystal to me, and I can grant you a swift death!”

Compared to Shen Xiao and Guan Tong, who had already lost their chance to compete for the Fire Spirit Crystal, Feng Hang was even more displeased. He stretched out his hand towards the shabbily dressed young man and said softly, his voice containing a thick killing intent.

This shabbily dressed young man, who had suddenly taken action and lucked out in snatching the Fire Spirit Crystal, was, of course, Yun Xiao, who had been hiding in the shadows. Even he didn’t know that obtaining the Fire Spirit Crystal would be so effortless; it was as if even the Heavens were looking after him.

Now that the Fire Spirit Crystal was in hand, how could Yun Xiao possibly give it up so easily, especially when Feng Hang was known as the number one talent of the Jade Pot Sect Outer Sect? He believed he had a chance to escape.

And didn’t he hear the meaning in Feng Hang’s words? Even if he handed over the Fire Spirit Crystal, the only difference would be the method of his inevitable death.

In fact, if one is doomed to die and vanish from the path of cultivation, does the choice of how to die even matter? In the end, death is just death. Any indecision that remained in Yun Xiao’s heart dissipated; now, it was just a matter of seeing how he could successfully escape from the hands of a genius in the Early Stage of the Meridian Rushing Realm like Feng Hang.

”Hehe, Brother Feng Hang, didn’t you just say that whoever grabs the Fire Spirit Crystal first, can’t be attacked by others? Are you planning to go back on your word?”

Yun Xiao’s face showed no fear, instead, a smile spread across his face. He tossed the fiery Fire Spirit Crystal in his hand, and his words left Shen Xiao and Guan Tong utterly dumbfounded beside him.

Indeed, Feng Hang had said just that, but at the time, he was addressing Shen Xiao, who was considered his equal. Now that Shen Xiao was gravely injured and no longer qualified to compete for the Fire Spirit Crystal, the statement naturally had no standing.

Furthermore, what right did Yun Xiao, a mere mid-stage Meridian Gathering Realm insect, have to haggle with a cultivator of the Meridian Rushing Realm like himself? Hearing Yun Xiao’s nonsensical words, Feng Hang was on the verge of bursting into laughter out of sheer anger.

”Yun Xiao, is it? I’ll say it once more: Hand over the Fire Spirit Crystal to me, and I’ll let you die a quick death!”

Feng Hang didn’t even bother to respond to Yun Xiao’s remark, but the cold voice that issued from his mouth was now filled with more icy intent. Meanwhile, a dangerous aura began to seep from his being, as if he were about to strike at any moment.
