Chapter 288: Nuclear Physics

”There’s a possibility,” Kenichi said noncommittally. He personally felt it was possible, but he could not be certain.

After hearing that, Amado also sank into deep thought.

Seeing this, Kenichi said nothing more. Instead, he turned his attention curiously to Akebi. She was calmly drinking tea, seemingly completely unconcerned about matters related to her own death. That made Kenichi glance at her a few more times.

After all, not everyone could remain calm when listening to others discuss their life and death, especially when the topic was themselves.

”Miss Akebi, do you remember what happened after you returned to the Pure Land?” Kenichi asked. He recalled that Amado had not mentioned whether his daughter saw anything after going back. Perhaps he had simply forgotten to ask.

”I just returned and continued living the same life in the Pure Land as before. Nothing special happened,” Akebi replied. Her voice was gentle and very pleasant to listen to.

”I asked Akebi about that as well, but she didn’t see anyone after returning, nor was she warned about anything. It seems the Sage of Six Paths has no interest in her at all,” Amado said helplessly with a sigh.

He had just remembered that he had indeed forgotten to mention it. Akebi had discovered nothing unusual after returning to the Pure Land, which was also why he had not thought of the Sage of Six Paths in the first place.

”Mr. Amado, have you done a control experiment?” Kenichi suddenly thought of something and asked.

”A control experiment... I forgot!” Amado slapped his forehead and hurriedly grabbed Kenichi to pull him out. Seeing this, Kenichi’s mouth twitched, but he was not surprised.

That was just how Amado was. When it came to most things, he was calm and steady, someone who handled matters at an unhurried pace. But the moment his daughter was involved, that calmness vanished on the spot.

”After all, it’s his own daughter,” Kenichi thought as he yawned, though in truth he was very interested in Amado’s research.

After all, even if it could only maintain a soul for about a month, that would still be a tremendous breakthrough.

Just imagine it. If they could summon the First Hokage with Edo Tensei and maintain him at full combat strength for an entire month, then conquering the Five Great Nations would no longer be especially difficult, provided, of course, that the First Hokage would obediently follow Kenichi’s orders.

After settling Amado’s matter for the moment, Kenichi returned to his laboratory and resumed his experiments. Soon, test subject number one was placed on the operating table.

”Then let the experiment begin,” Kenichi said as he looked at the subject. He twisted his neck, created a Shadow Clone to record the experimental log, and then began applying the stimulation process he had deduced earlier.

[The experiment on Subject One has begun. The main body used the previously developed Sharingan stimulation method to apply both psychological and physiological stimulation to Subject One.]

[Subject One’s body temperature rose rapidly. Heart rate accelerated to one hundred sixty three beats per minute, and blood pressure also began to climb.]

[The temperature of the amygdala began rising. The smell of cooked meat could already be detected from a distance.]

[The main body reduced the stimulation on Subject One. After seventy eight seconds, the experiment ended. A new Sharingan particle successfully formed within Subject One’s amygdala.]

Kenichi let go of the subject and smiled in delight.

To be honest, he had not expected the experiment to go this smoothly. In fact, the success was almost beyond his expectations.

But after thinking about it carefully, it was actually very reasonable.

The hardest and most troublesome part had always been figuring out how to integrate Uchiha genes into an ordinary person’s body and alter their genetic information.

Once that was accomplished and the gene programming succeeded, the remaining difficulty dropped sharply.

Just look at Uchiha Shiori. After inheriting Obito’s genes, she had successfully awakened the Sharingan. The real issue back then had been the horrifying death rate, which made the method essentially impossible to use in practice.

But now, through sheer coincidence, Kenichi had used the secretion of the chakra parasitic Mother Worm to help him complete the improvement of his genetic programming ninjutsu. And that improvement had, for all practical purposes, succeeded.

The probability of failure had become extremely low. So far, Kenichi had not seen a single failure.

[You have completed a breakthrough research project on the Sharingan. You have obtained books related to nuclear physics and atomic bombs.]

Kenichi froze for a moment.

To be honest, he had almost forgotten about this side reward, but he had never expected the reward to turn out like this. At the same time, Kenichi noticed several large boxes had appeared inside his laboratory.

”These can’t all be nuclear physics books, can they?” Kenichi’s mouth twitched.

Still, aside from the newly awarded items, he could think of no other explanation for these suddenly appearing boxes.

After opening one of them, he quickly confirmed it. Not only that, there were many books inside, covering everything from the fundamentals of nuclear physics to atomic fission theory related to atomic bombs. There was even a book titled Simple Atomic Bomb Design.

It could be said that nearly every kind of book related to atomic bombs was now stacked in front of him, with the only oddity being that none of them had an author or publisher listed.

”So I still have to learn it myself?” Kenichi took a deep breath.

He had to admit, this reward was a little disappointing. He had originally thought he would directly obtain the method for building an atomic bomb.

But after looking at the mountain of books, he decided that getting the books was not actually so bad. After all, nuclear physics and atomic bomb theory involved a great deal of new knowledge. Fortunately, with Shadow Clones, studying would not interfere with his main work.

Besides, forcibly stuffing all that knowledge into his brain at once would have been difficult anyway. So called memory infusion was an extremely hard thing to achieve even now. The human brain was a mysterious organ, and a slight error could cause enormous trouble.

”Once I understand this, can I start hand crafting mushroom clouds?” Kenichi licked his lips, feeling a surge of excitement.

That was the pinnacle of human technology from his previous life.

Whether in destructive power or area of effect, there was nothing much to criticize. While hydrogen bombs were even stronger, once he understood atomic bombs, understanding hydrogen bombs would not be that much harder. Besides, he had not been a nuclear physics major in his previous life, so learning it now was not a bad thing.

Kenichi also knew of another weapon that, in his old world, existed mostly in theory: the cobalt bomb, a nuclear weapon capable of poisoning the entire atmosphere. He had to admit, humanity really was disturbingly gifted when it came to self destruction.

”Still, these two experimental subjects do have some remaining value...” Kenichi glanced at the two unconscious subjects before him. He had other uses for them.

For example, he could take them to the Land of Snow and see what kind of effects the Mother Worm’s parasites would have on them. That would count as recycling.

If they could be parasitized successfully, then the two Genin would become part of the new nation. Of course, judging from their current strength, they would most likely be cannon fodder.

”But even though I now know how to stimulate the awakening of the Sharingan, what about the Mangekyo Sharingan? How am I supposed to stimulate the Mangekyo?” Kenichi rubbed his chin.

He had solved one problem, only to immediately run into another.

The ordinary Sharingan, below the Mangekyo level, did not actually create an overwhelming distinction in combat power. Only when the three tomoe evolved into the Mangekyo did it become a massive leap.

After all, Mangekyo techniques were truly outrageous.

Although Amaterasu often looked weak in practice, it was actually an extremely powerful ninjutsu. Used properly, it could drive an enemy into chaos, and it even had uses outside of combat.

For example, Amaterasu would not go out until it had burned its target to ashes. What did that mean? It was practically an alternative perpetual motion device.

In theory, as long as one found something Amaterasu could not completely burn through, then the black flames would keep burning and continuously generate heat. In other words, it would become an inextinguishable fire.

At first glance, that did not seem especially useful. But in fact, an eternally burning source of energy could completely transform human civilization. That was why so many people in his previous life had kept trying to create perpetual motion machines, even though science had already proven such a thing impossible.

”I’ll need to do another experiment later.” Kenichi rubbed his hands.

The ordinary Sharingan gene fusion was already a success. These people now possessed Uchiha genes and had the potential to activate the Sharingan.

But what if he fused Obito’s genes? Itachi’s? Shisui’s?

Would that allow these two to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan directly?

Then, when the Fourth Great Ninja War arrived, he could wave a hand and have countless Mangekyo users rush out. The battlefield would be filled with Susanoo.

That scene would be extremely difficult for the current ninja world to deal with.

And he would not even need to directly confront the Five Great Nations head on. He could take a gradual approach instead, such as parasitizing the population bit by bit, and only revealing his hand once the Kage found themselves isolated and helpless.

”Still, as good as these ideas sound, they all need testing first...” Kenichi shook his head.

The idea was good, but there was a prerequisite. The parasite experiment had to be completed first so he could determine just how far the ninja controlled by parasites could go.

If they could not be controlled perfectly, then these two certainly could not be used carelessly.

”The next generation of the Mother Worm still needs some time to be cultivated, but I can use that time to deal with other things.” Kenichi yawned, stood up from his chair, and casually pushed the test subject’s brain back into place.

The experiment was over for now, and he had no intention of moving the two subjects yet. The Mother Worm still needed some time to produce its next generation.

During this period, Kenichi planned to handle something Orochimaru had mentioned earlier: Nagato seemed to be looking for him.

For that, he took out the jade ring Nagato had given him, rubbed it, and sent his thoughts into it.

Soon, a chakra fluctuation rose from the ring, and in the next instant, he was pulled into that familiar space.

”Jade, what do you need?” Nagato’s Pain body was the only one present in the space.

”Leader, I heard from my teacher that you seemed to be looking for me?” Kenichi asked with a smile.

Nagato looked at Kenichi with mild disdain. ℴ

He did not know why, but every time he saw Kenichi, he felt uncomfortable and had the urge to throw him out. However, given the nature of the current matter, he put that thought aside.

”It’s like this. Hidden Mist contacted the organization’s liaison and issued a mission. The target is Konoha, and they specifically requested that you carry it out,” Nagato said after taking a deep breath and suppressing his irritation.

”Hidden Mist?” Kenichi was stunned for a moment. He genuinely had not expected that.

To be honest, it was not strange for a village to come looking for him for a mission. His reputation as the Heavenly Demon was already quite famous, and his two public mission appearances had both been so shocking that many people remembered him clearly.

However, his fee was very expensive, and his nuclear blackmail business had not exactly turned into a consistent source of income. Aside from Iwagakure paying for one year, nothing more had followed, and Iwagakure had not continued paying afterward, which remained a bit disappointing.

But what Kenichi could not understand was why Hidden Mist would come to him to strike Konoha.

It was not strange for Hidden Mist to want to target Konoha. Geographically speaking, if Hidden Mist wanted to compete for dominance in the ninja world, then Konoha was naturally its biggest obstacle.

The problem was that it still did not make sense.

The Mizukage of Hidden Mist was most likely still being controlled by Obito. In fact, he was probably definitely still under control, because there had been no major turmoil coming out of Hidden Mist. So Obito should know about this.

It was even possible that Obito himself had ordered it.

”How strange...” Kenichi scratched his head.

Obito should not have any good feelings toward him, but it still seemed unlikely that he would waste money like this for no reason. Besides, in the original story, Ao was supposed to discover that the Mizukage was being controlled because of his Byakugan.

But now Hidden Mist remained quiet and stable. Of course, that could also simply be another butterfly effect caused by Kenichi’s arrival. At this point, the plot had long since been mangled beyond recognition.

”How much are they offering?” Kenichi asked curiously, looking at Nagato.

If Obito was offering enough money, then making a trip would not be impossible. It would also give Kenichi a chance to see what exactly Obito was planning.
