Chapter 219: This Main Body Is So Weak! He Even Got the Name Wrong! He’s Really Too Weak.

”I’m telling you, the main body is weak. He even said the wrong name just now.”

”Yeah. Completely pathetic.”

Kenichi’s mouth twitched as he listened to his two Shadow Clones whispering beside him. For a moment, he genuinely did not know what to say.

Ever since he swapped eyes, he had slipped more than once. He kept blurting out the wrong thing, accidentally calling Obito’s eyes Shisui’s eyes.

It was humiliating.

Just now, he had even declared, ”Shisui, your eyes are mine!”

The cringe was so strong it could probably kill someone.

Kenichi found a simple solution.

Dissolve the Shadow Clones.

As long as they dispersed, no one would know about this dark history.

”Obito,” Kenichi muttered as he casually dispersed them, ”I really hope you enjoy the gift I’m sending you.”

He pulled out a sealing scroll, released a thermobaric bomb from it, and set it carefully on the ground.

Then he took out something else.

A human puppet.

Rin Nohara.

He had made it earlier, and the resemblance was almost perfect. Clothes covered the joints and seams, making it nearly impossible to spot anything wrong at a glance.

Unless someone inspected it closely.

To be honest, Kenichi would never use a method like this on most people. But against Obito, the feasibility was extremely high. The puppet’s role was simple: draw Obito’s attention and keep him from noticing the thermobaric bomb immediately.

And who was Obito, really?

A pure love battle god of the ninja world.

Someone who had loved Rin for years, and even after her death, never wavered.

For nearly twenty years, Rin’s image had been carved into his heart.

Kenichi was perfectly willing to call him the most devoted lover in the ninja world.

So this ”useless” move was actually lethal against Obito.

In fact, it was not just Obito. If Kenichi had mailed a package to Naruto during the Fourth Great Ninja War and written ”Uzumaki Kushina” on it, then once Naruto learned the truth, he would freeze on the spot too.

”So this only works on people who actually care about emotions,” Kenichi realized a beat late.

Still, the puppet was only the bait.

The real key was the biological identification device.

The thermobaric bomb’s detector would detonate the moment it recognized a living organism. If Obito entered the Kamui dimension, he might not even have time to blink before the bomb went off.

Kenichi was genuinely looking forward to what he might gain from that.

And if Obito vanished, then whether Black Zetsu could complete his plan became questionable. It might even derail Madara’s resurrection entirely.

If that happened, wouldn’t a major crisis in the ninja world resolve itself?

”Kamui.”

Kenichi activated the Mangekyo again.

The thermobaric bomb and Rin’s puppet warped into the Kamui dimension together. The instant they vanished, the chakra Kenichi had been using to maintain the switch’s control dissipated.

Now, inside that sealed space, sat a high tech weapon from his previous life.

A thermobaric bomb with biological identification.

Or rather, an improved thermobaric bomb.

This one contained a massive amount of Sage Art Fire Release chakra.

That meant the explosive power could spike to an absurd level. Kenichi did not dare test it inside his laboratory.

If it detonated there, he could be bankrupted in minutes, and that would be the funniest tragedy in history.

”So now I need to put the Mangekyo back,” Kenichi murmured, touching near his eye. ”But what exactly is going on with this pupil power?”

He wanted to take the Mangekyo out again and study it properly. It would help his research immensely.

But the moment he thought of Black Zetsu’s cursed Mayfly Jutsu, he killed that idea.

If he could not guarantee his surroundings were safe, experimenting directly with Obito’s eyes was basically an invitation for Obito to show up.

And dealing with a hostile Obito would be a headache he did not need.

Caution was better.

Still, Kenichi felt his temples throb.

”But what kind of logic is guarding against thieves for a thousand days?” he muttered.

Zetsu’s jutsu was disgusting. It gave off no aura at all, and its concealment was terrifying.

Which meant Zetsu could be watching him at any time, and Kenichi would never know.

That kind of uncertainty could drive someone insane.

It was like coming home after a long day and spotting a strange mark at your door, then realizing it was a thieves’ mark. A signal that someone intended to break in.

And the worst part was living alone.

No family. No backup.

You would start obsessing over your property, your safety, every sound in the night. The police could not station someone at your door forever, and you could not even prove it was real.

Maybe it was a prank. Maybe it was not.

But doubt alone was enough to rot your nerves.

At that point, either you raised a huge dog, preferably a trained one, or you had family stay over for a while so you could sleep without jumping at every noise.

Black Zetsu was that mark.

If Kenichi did not know Zetsu’s ability, he could live carelessly. But he did know.

And that knowledge made it impossible to pretend everything was fine.

”I wonder if Black Zetsu’s ability is truly fused with nature,” Kenichi thought, ”or if it can be detected with something like an infrared thermal imager.”

He created two Shadow Clones to help him with the surgery and restore his eyes.

Even after it was done, he still had no concrete solution.

Black Zetsu would never cooperate for experiments. That meant every test came with a brutal uncertainty.

Schrödinger’s Black Zetsu.

If you did not see it, was it not there?

Or was it watching you right now, perfectly hidden?

You could not confirm anything unless you forced Black Zetsu to reveal itself and cooperate.

And how was that supposed to happen?

Kenichi was not Ōtsutsuki Kaguya. He could not command Black Zetsu to jump out and act like a suicidal test subject.

Still, he decided he would make an infrared thermal imager when he had time, and occasionally use it to scan the area.

If it worked and he caught something, that would be a pleasant surprise.

If it failed, he would look for other solutions.

Kenichi refused to believe Black Zetsu could evade every detection method forever.

Just as he was about to head back down to his own lab, he remembered what Shiori had told him earlier.

Teacher had returned.

So Kenichi turned and went straight to his teacher’s laboratory.

The moment he entered, he saw the lights were on, but Orochimaru was nowhere in sight.

Kenichi was mildly curious, but he did not think much of it. Orochimaru often buried himself in research for long stretches.

Once he started, he could go for an absurd amount of time.

Sometimes he even set records, staying inside for eight months straight, living on military rations and handling everything else within the lab.

”I wonder what Teacher did on this trip...” Kenichi yawned.

After switching back to his own eyes, even though they were no longer Mangekyo, he still felt a lingering phantom ache.

Then he noticed several documents spread across the table.

Kenichi hesitated.

They were clearly Orochimaru’s work, and Orochimaru had not said he could look.

So Kenichi did not touch them.

”Kenichi,” Orochimaru’s voice suddenly came from deeper inside the lab, calm and familiar. ”Take a look at the data on the table.”

Kenichi answered at once and picked up the documents.

The content was massive, dense, and painful to read.

The first pages were filled with structural diagrams, mathematical frameworks, and long chains of derivations that looked like a different language.

Kenichi could only flip toward the back first to find the point.

And when he did, his interest snapped awake.

Orochimaru had used two hundred and forty six pages to prove the feasibility of a telephone.

Not only that, he had built an experimental prototype.

Kenichi immediately returned to the first page and began reading properly, page by page, forcing himself to follow the logic. He tried to understand what each step was based on, why those derivations led where they did, and how the design choices connected.

Without realizing it, he became completely absorbed.

Orochimaru’s research ability was abnormal. That was the only word for it.

Even though the prototype was wired and required a large number of relay base stations, it was still an incredible invention.

A leap across eras.

Orochimaru had also included the wireless concept Kenichi had mentioned before, and he had conducted extensive experiments on that front as well.

The tests were thorough. The documentation was complete.

But in the end, it failed.

Orochimaru was still searching for something that could stably receive and transmit the signals.

”Communication...” Kenichi murmured, thinking as he read. ”To make this work on a larger scale, the simplest base station problem has to be solved. And you’d need digital converters too...”

Even so, a wired telephone alone was already a breakthrough.

”Finished reading?”

Orochimaru’s voice sounded again, close this time.

Kenichi nodded, gathered the papers neatly, and handed them back.

Then he looked up.

And froze.

In his line of sight were a pair of pale legs, still glistening with fresh water droplets.

Kenichi’s mind blanked for a moment.
