Chapter 100: ”Hero Saves the Beauty” Is No Longer Suitable for This Version

”What is this Ryōgane Kashi?” Kenichi could not help glancing at her. Good heavens. He had not expected to run into something like this just to buy materials. It was both ridiculous and irritating.

”This is one of the products we have launched here.” The woman introduced it with practiced enthusiasm.

Kenichi took the pamphlet and skimmed it.

Was this not just a ninja world version of loan sharking?

Hidden fees, absurd interest, a seven day cycle. Disgusting.

”If you choose a loan of over one million taels of gold, we can also...” The woman licked her lips at him, her expression full of deliberate allure.

Kenichi almost laughed.

What else could she possibly mean? Get bled dry down to the marrow?

”No need. I will pay in full.” Kenichi curled his lip. He did not need a gold loan. If anything, he wanted to toss a thermobaric bomb at people like this and send them to the Pure Land so they could sober up properly.

He truly disliked this sort of thing.

In his previous life, one of his college roommates had gotten involved with it. Borrow ten thousand, receive five thousand five hundred, then somehow owe twelve thousand back. At first, the roommate acted smug. When repayment day arrived, regret hit like a hammer.

He tried to dodge it. The collectors went straight to his parents’ home and forced repayment.

One day late meant an extra two hundred.

In the end, the roommate was even expelled because of how bad it got. Those people had shown up at the school to collect debts, calling the principal and demanding payment like they owned the place.

They were not human.

”Alright.” The woman’s smile did not change at all. She tallied the amount smoothly, then hurried off to fetch the stock.

Kenichi waited in place. He was not in a rush. If anything, he used the time to study the shop with a thoughtful look.

He was thinking about money.

During her sales pitch, he had learned a little about the store’s background.

This was a chain that operated inside black markets. According to her boast, they had a branch in every black market and offered comprehensive gold loan services. That also implied they had real power behind them.

Even an elite jonin could not simply default.

If that was true, then this place must be swimming in money. If someone ever turned on them successfully, they would get rich overnight.

Kenichi considered it for a moment, then discarded the idea.

It would become troublesome to buy supplies afterward.

If he wanted money, he could just take a few war bounties.

Nagato had said many villages were now very interested in him. After all, Kumogakure had been bombed into a miserable state.

Iwagakure had even offered an outrageous price for the ”ninjutsu” he had developed. Kenichi knew it was not ninjutsu at all, it was a weapon, but outsiders did not know that.

Kumogakure might know, yet they had not said anything. No one knew why.

At the same time, Kenichi also understood something else. While the villages were interested, they were also secretly researching how to counter his thermobaric bombs.

In a way, he had single handedly pushed the ninja world into upgrading defensive barriers.

If this world had a stock market, the barrier industry would be celebrating.

”Sir, these are your items.”

The woman hurried over, panting lightly as she stopped in front of him. Even while catching her breath, she looked at him with the same seductive gaze as before.

Her legs, wrapped in white stockings, brushed against his leg as if by accident.

Kenichi accepted the sealing scroll without expression, checked it, confirmed everything was correct, then stood up.

He left.

He had no interest in anything this place was offering beyond materials.

It was not surprising that salespeople in black markets had side work.

It was not that Kenichi was some saint. It was that places like this were filthy. Who knew what kind of infectious diseases could be lurking around. If he caught something, it would be a headache.

”But I do not think there is AIDS in the ninja world, right?” Kenichi muttered to himself as he walked.

He was not sure if it was because shinobi generally had stronger constitutions, but some diseases were rare here, and some did not seem to exist at all.

With his supplies secured, Kenichi planned to head back.

The moment he stepped into the street, two people rushed him.

They were two ragged sisters. They lunged toward his legs in a frantic scramble, as if trying to cling to him for protection while a merchant chased after them with an angry roar.

Kenichi’s lips twitched.

What was wrong with today? Why did every step come with something ridiculous?

The next instant, a sharp birdlike cry burst from his hand.

In the blink of an eye, his hands pierced straight through both sisters’ chests.

Their eyes widened in disbelief.

Kenichi withdrew his hands, then gently closed their eyes.

”You... you...” The merchant who had been chasing them stumbled back several steps, his face turning pale.

Kenichi smiled at him.

The birdsong rang out again.

”You are broke and you still want to rob someone?” Kenichi squatted down and slapped the man’s face with the money in his hand. ”Do you have any professional ethics at all? You are putting me in a difficult position.”

Two sisters in distress, a hero rushing in, and then they fall for him?

Do not be ridiculous.

This was the cruel ninja world.

Kenichi had already seen it with his Sharingan. The sisters looked like they were grabbing his legs in panic, but they were actually holding syringes, likely filled with poison.

So he simply connected them, clean and direct.

A unique experience, in its own way.

He had originally planned to kill the merchant on the spot too.

Then another thought surfaced.

Living sacrifices.

Materials for the First Hokage’s cells through Edo Tensei.

So Kenichi spared him.

Temporarily.

After all, no one survived by becoming a living sacrifice.

Humming a cheerful tune, Kenichi dragged the unconscious chunin away. Along the way, people in the black market stared at him with strange expressions, but no one stepped forward to stop him.

Those with experience could tell what kind of technique he had used just now. They also understood the gap in strength.

No one was foolish enough to jump out.

That disappointed Kenichi a little.

What wonderful consumables. They were practically delivering themselves all over the black market. What a waste.

Just as Kenichi stepped out of the black market, he saw a white haired man walking toward him.

The man glanced at Kenichi, then at the chunin he was carrying.

Kenichi narrowed his eyes.

He actually ran into Jiraiya.
