”Not perfected?” Orochimaru was visibly taken aback.

In his estimation, the grotesque serpent, stitched together from disparate parts, possessed a freakish regenerative ability that made him covet it greatly.

After all, the Orochimaru of the present was not the Orochimaru of the original timeline. His scientific acumen had improved considerably since then.

If he could seize this opportunity to reclaim the seeds he had planted long ago, along with the fruits they had borne, it would be an unexpected boon.

Without his own genius to record the theoretical knowledge, it would have been utterly impossible for Hiruko, who was even more of a dead last than Jiraiya, to independently develop the Chimera Technique. It was a fool’s dream.

”What you see is the success of the Twin-Headed Serpent,” Hiruko said, glancing at the serpent that still watched them warily. ”But for my own purposes, the experimental subjects must possess the most exceptional Kekkei Genkai!”

”Imagine, if a single individual were to gather five distinct Kekkei Genkai, and also possess the ability to regenerate indefinitely. Who in this world could possibly stand against them? Not even a god...”

Hiruko trailed off, his mind suddenly clouded by the memory of a recent battle, a battle that was etched into his soul like a brand.

He had always believed that once he mastered the Chimera Technique, he would become a being akin to a god.

Five Kekkei Genkai, combined with an immortal, regenerating body.

He would be unstoppable, a force to be reckoned with!

However, after witnessing the power of Uchiha Kai, who seemed to possess the very essence of divinity, his confidence had begun to waver.

Orochimaru’s expression shifted subtly. The blade he had produced earlier was now gone, and his crimson tongue flicked across his lips as he said, ”You’re not running, yet you seek me out. You’ve discovered a target with a Kekkei Genkai and want my assistance?”

”Don’t forget, you are where you are now, having fled the village, because of me. In other words, we are enemies. Why would I help someone who might seek revenge on me to complete their final experiment?”

Orochimaru was genuinely surprised by Hiruko’s unexpected appearance.

In his view, the combined jutsu was fundamentally flawed.

Especially since Hiruko’s chosen experimental subjects were individuals who possessed Kekkei Genkai.

Every bloodline user was a product of generations of careful cultivation within their clan. If an outsider attempted to forcibly incorporate these bloodlines into their own body, their very essence would resist it.

If the selected experimental subject happened to possess a Kekkei Genkai, the intensity of their bloodline would be far greater than that of an ordinary person.

If a rejection were to occur, it could trigger a chain reaction, leading to the body’s ultimate demise.

When he first proposed this theory, Orochimaru had also conducted his own experiments with wood release cell cultivation.

Even Danzo’s arm, which came from Uchiha Shin, was a derivative of this combined jutsu, the Chimera Technique.

However, Orochimaru never imagined that his casual meddling would lead Hiruko to actually develop the forbidden Chimera Technique to such an extent, and to still be alive to stand before him.

”Orochimaru, do you really think I’m so naive that I couldn’t see through your intentions when you leaked this flawed jutsu to me?” Hiruko said with a cold laugh.

”The Chimera Technique is now nearly perfected. I only need to find two more suitable Kekkei Genkai users to achieve your ideal state.”

”No, I will surpass your theoretical framework. I will become even stronger, a more perfect god. At that point, even the so-called Blood-Red Ashura of Konoha will pose no threat to me!”

His words echoed through the air, and by the end, they were tinged with madness.

Observing the dramatic shift in Hiruko’s personality, Orochimaru showed no fear, but instead a smile crept across his face. ”Hiruko, do you know what I initially despised about you? It was your relentless pursuit of strength, your unwavering dedication to self-improvement.”

”But this newfound ambition to seek out shortcuts...that appeals to my sensibilities.”

Orochimaru’s smile widened.

”I’m delighted that my experimental subject has reached such heights. You’ve come to me because you’ve located a new target, haven’t you? You’re inviting me to lend you a helping hand?”

Observing Orochimaru’s probing gaze and his irritatingly smug expression, Hiruko gave a knowing smile. ”You’re correct. You, Tsunade, and Jiraiya...you were all my targets. I held you in awe.”

”To be able to converse with you as an equal, as I am now...I never thought it possible. If you agree to help me acquire this Kekkei Genkai user, I will give you all of my research data and experimental findings on the Chimera Technique.”

Faced with this tempting offer from Hiruko, Orochimaru did not immediately refuse.

This was Hiruko’s life’s work, and no one could resist the allure of a unique and powerful jutsu.

Especially not one who was as eccentric and driven as Hiruko.

He might agree now, but the Chimera Technique he would eventually hand over would certainly not be the perfected version.

However, while it might be useless to others, it would be a goldmine for Orochimaru, the twisted and brilliant scientist.

By combining it with his other experiments, he could perfect the transplantation of wood release cells.

Perhaps he could even acquire a Mangekyo Sharingan and achieve perfect compatibility during his immortality transfer.

”Orochimaru, what do you say?” Hiruko asked calmly. ”I located this target three days ago. According to my sources, she’s currently in a waterfall cave thirty kilometers away.”

”If she weren’t accompanied by a puppet master, I could have captured her myself. I wouldn’t need your cooperation.”

”A puppet master?” Orochimaru raised an eyebrow, glancing at the scroll Hiruko had produced. After a moment of hesitation, he said, ”Very well, I agree to help you. But I want information on the target, and half of your Chimera Technique data first.”

For Orochimaru, there was no line he wouldn’t cross.

In the original timeline, he had dared to kill the Fourth Kazekage and the Third Hokage. He had even kept entire clans as test subjects for his cursed seal experiments.

Hunting a Kekkei Genkai user was nothing in comparison.

”Hmph, I only stumbled upon this target by chance. She was wearing a mask, so I don’t know who she is,” Hiruko said with a sneer, tossing the scroll to Orochimaru.
