My Werewolf System

Chapter 1783  The Sins of the Father

Thankfully, as Blake sprinted frantically through the labyrinth of back alleys and side streets toward the Dojo, he didn’t run into any more of the roaming Werewolves. Relying on his rigorous Hunter stamina, he was able to navigate the chaotic neighborhood and reach his destination fairly quickly.

But as soon as he arrived at the perimeter of the Dojo, his blood ran cold. He instantly felt that something was horribly wrong.

For one, the heavy, traditional wooden doors at the front entrance were completely destroyed, their splintered remains lying halfway into the stone courtyard.

“Dad!” Blake yelled, his heart hammering against his ribs as he drew a desperate breath and rushed ahead into the ruins.

His mind raced with terrifying possibilities. The mindless Glutton Werewolves possessed an incredible sense of smell; they might have easily sensed exactly where his father was hiding and attempted to swarm and attack him in numbers.

When Blake reached the main hall of the Dojo, he completely bypassed the ruined training mats and quickly sprinted down the narrow staircase into the hidden basement.

He threw the door open, but there was absolutely no one there. The shadows were empty.

“Did he somehow manage to get out...? But why the hell would he have left the safety of the basement?” Blake questioned aloud, his eyes scanning the undisturbed room. “Maybe he heard the screams outside. Maybe it was to see what the bloody situation was and to physically help out the innocent people.”

Blake began frantically searching the hidden room to gather his equipment, his mind heavily consumed with thoughts about his father. There had been a staggering amount of tragic changes in their lives recently.

Originally, back when the group had fiercely fought against the monstrous Ylva, Blake’s father had bravely sacrificed his own life for the rest of the group to survive. For a long, agonizing while, Blake had truly mourned, thinking his father was completely dead. But he had eventually learned the horrifying truth: his father was still alive. And not only was he alive, but he had been forcefully turned into a monstrous Werewolf against his will.

For months, he was completely under Ylva’s control. There seemed to be a , fundamental sense of his humanity that was entirely missing while he was enslaved. But when Ylva had finally passed away, the grip loosened. His father had officially joined over to the Howlers, and thanks to Xin’s power, things had changed for the better.

He was no longer anywhere near as feral or mindlessly aggressive as before. He wasn’t actively attacking the other Howlers, nor was he randomly attacking innocent humans. But there were still a couple of heavy, tragic downsides to his permanent condition.

For one, his father was still completely unable to speak a single human word. It was abundantly clear from his expressive eyes that he could perfectly understand exactly what was being said to him.

The second devastating reality was that he was completely, permanently stuck in his , furred Werewolf state. This was a severe biological issue, apparently carrying over even from when he was a mindless part of Lupus’s pack. It was most likely due to just how incredibly close he was to the absolute brink of death when the horrific transformation had originally happened; the beast form was the only thing keeping his heart beating.

Lastly, though he had regained his mind, there was still a dangerous, feral instinct lingering in his jaw. If anyone unexpectedly got too close to his face, almost entirely on pure, primal instinct, his jaws would violently snap shut.

To safely stop himself from accidentally biting or killing the others, it was actually his father who had originally suggested—through gestures and writing—creating a heavy, locked iron mask for himself.

Because he couldn’t magically break free from his permanent transformation, his father had selflessly decided to live entirely in the shadows underneath the Dojo, only occasionally coming up into the private halls to spend quiet time with his son.

They continued to live together in secret, and Blake honestly didn’t mind the bizarre arrangement at all. He loved his father, and to stay by his side, Blake had even willingly given up his dangerous, active life of being an Altered Hunter.

“Alright... that’s absolutely everything,” Blake said, snapping back to the violent present.

He had rapidly strapped on the high-leveled, specialized combat gear that had been generously gifted to him by Edvard. The dark, reinforced plating locked seamlessly over his chest and forearms. Finally, he reached out and firmly grabbed two beautifully crafted red swords, securing their heavy sheaths tightly to his waist.

He no longer possessed the legendary unbreakable sword, having honorably given it back to the person he thought was its rightful owner, along with the other special, dark-bladed sword. Still, these twin red blades were incredibly strong, high-tier weapons, and Blake had a vast, bloody wealth of experience when it came to fighting wolf-like creatures.

As he rapidly exited out of the Dojo and back into the cold air, he drew his red blades and fearlessly ventured directly into the chaotic area where he could hear the screams echoing the loudest.

That violent path eventually led Blake straight to the main street, where he could see dozens of crashed, burning cars littering the asphalt.

“OVER HERE!” a desperate voice suddenly shouted over the crackling flames. It appeared as if the scream was echoing from down a narrow, shadowed alleyway between two brick buildings.

Blake quickly moved. Utilizing his Hunter agility, he jumped effortlessly up onto the dented roof of an abandoned car. It was significantly easier and tactically safer to jump rapidly from rooftop to rooftop across the gridlocked traffic to get to where he could hear the noise.

Suddenly, he saw a Werewolf violently leaping toward the exact same location, heading right into the mouth of the alleyway.

“Wait a second... was that...?”

Blake continued his sprint, aggressively hopping from car roof to car roof, and then he could finally see it clearly. Trapped at the dead end of the brick alleyway was a terrified group of teenagers. They were standing with their backs pressed hard against the wall.

Standing protectively in front of them, an iron-masked wolf was fiercely fighting against a few Gluttons. Blake watched in awe as the masked beast violently picked up one of the attackers entirely by its face and slammed its skull brutally right into the solid brick wall.

It was his dad.

Blake instantly picked up his speed, his boots pounding against the hoods of the cars as he ran straight ahead toward the alley entrance.

“MOVE!” Blake shouted at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing off the brick walls.

The terrified teenagers immediately scrambled to the side as they saw Blake leaping through the air, diving right into the middle of the bloodbath.

A Glutton Werewolf, distracted by the shout, wildly swung its claws at Blake. Relying on sheer muscle memory, Blake seamlessly ducked, rolling smoothly underneath the lethal strike. As he came up from the roll, he violently drove the points of both of his red swords directly downward, pinning the Werewolf’s foot completely through bone and into the concrete asphalt.

The beast roared in agony, completely anchored to the ground.

Without missing a single beat, Blake ripped the swords free, violently slashing a deep, horizontal X across the stomach of the Werewolf while simultaneously spinning his body to narrowly avoid a desperate counter-attack.

Then, carrying the momentum of his spin, Blake forcefully jumped up, kicked off the adjacent brick wall for extra height and leverage, and plunged both of his red swords directly down through the top of the Werewolf’s skull.

The blades pierced the brain instantly, killing the Glutton in one flawless, brutal hit.

“F*cking hell! Did you just see that?!” Astro commented, his jaw hitting the floor as the dead monster slumped to the pavement. “That guy... he just completely slaughtered one of those ungodly things, and he’s just a normal human!”

At the exact same time, the Iron-Masked Werewolf brutally finished dealing with the other two Gluttons, snapping a neck and tossing the body aside into the dumpsters.

Seeing the heavily armed human standing amidst the carnage, Sue panicked.

“Wait! Stop!” Sue shouted desperately, stepping slightly forward. “Please, don’t hurt the one wearing the iron mask! He’s friendly! He saved us!”

The teenagers were incredibly worried that this mysterious, lethal stranger might mistake their monstrous savior for another target and attack it.

Blake stood up, casually flicking the blood off his twin red swords before sliding them smoothly back into their sheaths. A warm, genuine smile crossed his face as he looked at the panting beast.

“Ah, don’t worry about it,” Blake said, his voice calm and completely devoid of fear. He looked back at the stunned kids. “You guys found this big guy hiding in the basement of the Dojo down the street, I’m guessing, right?”

Blake stepped forward and gently placed a hand on the furred shoulder of the terrifying monster.

“I know he’s friendly,” Blake said, standing incredibly proud, absolutely not ashamed of the beast his hero had become. “Because he’s my dad.”
