Chapter 445: Entering the game

As the ancient voice agreed to his request, it sent a detailed stream of information about the game directly into Ethan’s mind.

The knowledge flowed like a gentle river, filling his thoughts with intricate details and ancient lore.

Ethan, however, did not dive into the information immediately.

”Let’s go,” he said to Ryugu, his voice calm and resolute, betraying none of the swirling thoughts in his head.

Ryugu nodded without hesitation and led them through the winding paths of the ancient land.

The air was thick with the scent of blooming eternal flowers, their petals glowing faintly under the perpetual twilight sky.

The ground beneath their feet was soft, carpeted with moss that seemed to whisper secrets of forgotten eras.

Soon, they arrived at a magnificent palace, its walls crafted from shimmering crystal that reflected the hues of the surrounding landscape.

Towers spiraled upward, adorned with intricate carvings depicting mythical battles and celestial wonders.

”We don’t have any guest house, brother. So you have to stay in my palace,” Ryugu said apologetically, his tone laced with genuine regret.

He gestured toward the grand entrance, where ethereal lights danced like fireflies.

Ethan just smiled, his expression warm and reassuring.

He placed a hand on Ryugu’s shoulder briefly, a gesture of camaraderie that eased the tension.

”Don’t worry about that. Give us two rooms side by side,” he said, his voice steady and practical.

”Sure,” Ryugu replied, relieved.

He guided them through the opulent halls, where murals of ancient dragons and divine beings adorned the walls.

After showing them their rooms, which were spacious chambers furnished with plush beds draped in silken fabrics and overlooking vast gardens, Ryugu left, promising that the food would be ready soon and he would call them.

His footsteps faded down the corridor, leaving Ethan and Rose in a quiet moment.

”Rose, take some rest. We will go out to see the land after that,” he said gently, his eyes meeting hers with a softness that contrasted his usual intensity.

Rose nodded, her face showing a mix of fatigue and curiosity.

She entered her room, the door closing softly behind her, and Ethan watched for a second before turning to his own space.

Ethan then entered his room, the door sealing with a faint click.

He sat on his bed, the mattress yielding comfortably under his weight, and finally allowed himself to delve into the details that had been imparted to him.

The information unfolded in his mind like pages of an ancient tome, revealing the secrets of the Game of Gods.

The Game of Gods was designed for the younger generation of the gods, a grand competition to determine which clan would receive more resources.

Normally, every member of the god races was born into a clan; there were no rogue elements wandering freely.

Clans with more true gods could send more of their younger generations to participate.

The creator of the fate race belonged to a low level god clan, one that had only a single true god who had barely achieved that exalted status.

As a result, they could send only one candidate.

This creator had proposed Ethan as that candidate, staking his very life on the outcome.

It was a desperate gamble, born from necessity and hope.

Any god could nominate their children or a member from their own race to compete.

Though Ethan was not originally from the fate race, he was an anomaly, a being whose essence could adapt and fit into any racial framework, making him a unique and versatile choice.

Now, the core of the game revolved around the Tower of Trials.

This tower was legendary, said to have existed before even time itself was woven into the fabric of reality.

It stood as an eternal monument, its origins shrouded in mystery.

Resources for the entire god race were allocated directly from the tower; it was the source of major divine essences that could not be found anywhere else in the divine realm.

Without it, the gods’ prosperity would falter.

Finally, the winner, the candidate who claimed the final divine artifact, would secure 10% of the resources solely for their clan for 10,000 years.

The remaining 90% would be divided among the other participants who had successfully obtained artifacts from the various floors.

There were a total of 10,000 seats available, representing opportunities for countless clans to vie for power.

Ethan grasped the essence of it all, his mind piecing together the implications.

The competition was fierce, with eternal consequences.

The game itself involved reincarnation into different worlds.

Each participant would be reborn in a mortal realm and tasked with locating a hidden artifact within it.

The moment someone seized that artifact, the trial for that floor would conclude.

If a participant managed to acquire more than one artifact, they could trade the extras for divine energy, which was crucial for extending their law strands, the foundational threads of a god’s power.

This was particularly vital for members of lesser god races, offering them a path to greater strength.

Moreover, completing specific tasks within these worlds would yield additional divine energy as rewards from the tower, incentivizing not just speed but ingenuity and perseverance.

Each floor of the tower featured a different mortal world system, with unique rules, challenges, and inhabitants.

The variety ensured that no two trials were alike, testing the adaptability of every candidate.

After absorbing everything, Ethan relaxed a bit, leaning back against the headboard.

The game was set to begin in about 30 days, but he needed to arrive near the tower in just three days to undergo baptism and verification of his worthiness as a candidate.

Ethan didn’t mind the timeline.

He first reached out mentally to Ryugu, requesting a blood sample to be sent to him.

The communication was swift, a telepathic link that bridged the distance effortlessly.

In five minutes, Ryugu personally arrived at Ethan’s door, knocking lightly before entering.

He handed over a small vial, its contents glowing with a faint crimson light.

”Brother, take this,” he said, his eyes curious but respectful.

”Ryugu, come here. I have something to talk about,” Ethan invited, gesturing to a nearby chair.

”What is it, brother?” Ryugu asked, settling in with evident curiosity.

Ethan proceeded to explain the Game of Gods, detailing the involvement of the fate race creator and the stakes at play.

”The law strand inside your body is already stripped, so you can’t become a true god anymore unless you create another law. Am I right?” Ethan asked, his tone probing yet empathetic.

”Yes, that would be correct,” Ryugu replied, initially surprised by Ethan’s insight but quickly composing himself.

He recognized Ethan’s vast talent and genius; such perception was shocking but not impossible.

”I am intending to win the game. Then I’ll have my personal law. Would you like to become my subject if I win?” Ethan proposed directly.

”Brother, are you sure about that? We are a race exiled from the god race. Yes, you will be powerful if we are integrated with you, but once you enter the divine realm, they would feel the breath of ours within you, and a wrath from the local lord clan would fall upon you,” Ryugu said calmly, his words measured and wise.

”You don’t have to worry about that. Talk to your elders,” Ethan responded with equal calm, his confidence unshaken.

Ryugu smiled, a knowing glint in his eyes.

”Alright. Best of luck then. And if that is the case, you don’t have to create the technique now. If you can return safe with a law of your own, we will very likely become your subject,” Ryugu said with a warm smile.

”Oh? You sure you want to say this without talking to your superiors?” Ethan asked curiously, raising an eyebrow.

Ryugu just smiled mysteriously and vanished in a swirl of ethereal mist, leaving Ethan to ponder the exchange.

Then Ethan rose and started walking toward Rose’s room, his footsteps light on the polished floors.

”Rose, let’s venture out,” he said, knocking gently on her door.

Rose came out and looked at Ethan, her gaze was perceptive.

”Something happened?” she asked as a matter of fact, sensing the subtle shift in his demeanor.

”Am I that easy to read?” Ethan smiled wryly, rubbing the back of his neck.

”You are,” Rose nodded, her expression was straightforward.

”Alright, I guess I can tell you now,” Ethan nodded and proceeded to tell her about the fate race creator and the intricacies of the game.

He spoke in hushed tones, detailing the tower, the reincarnations, and the artifacts, ensuring she understood the risks without overwhelming her.

Rose suddenly felt very worried, her heart tightening with concern, but she didn’t know what to say.

Words seemed inadequate in the face of such monumental stakes.

Ethan held Rose’s hand tightly, his grip firm yet comforting.

”Rose, once I return, I have something very important to tell you,” he said seriously, his eyes locking onto hers with profound intent.

For the next three days, Ethan and Rose ventured around the land of the ancients with Ryugu as their guide.

It was a delightful time, filled with laughter, discoveries, and moments of quiet connection amidst the wonders.

As the third day arrived, Ethan summoned the mega omega clone to this land.

It materialized in a flash of energy, a perfect replica ready to protect and accompany Rose, as it had little else to occupy it in the neutral plane.

”Are you ready? I am teleporting you to the location,” Ethan heard the ancient voice again, echoing in his mind like distant thunder.

Ethan just nodded, his resolve steeling.

Soon, with a blinding light that enveloped him like a cocoon of pure energy, he vanished from there.

When he opened his eyes again, he was standing in a vast grass field, the blades swaying gently in a divine breeze.

Thousands of beings milled about, their auras radiating power and divinity.

In the center stood the Tower of Trials, an imposing structure with no visible top, stretching endlessly into the sky.

Its surface shimmered with runes that pulsed with ancient energy, a testament to its 10,000 floors and the immense challenges within.

”What is this filthy presence? It doesn’t belong to our race,” suddenly the young stars of the god race started murmuring, their voices a chorus of disdain.

Eyes turned toward Ethan, the only one who lacked the innate divine essence of their kind.

”Vermin, who are you? How did you come here?” Ethan heard a voice demand.

He looked behind and saw a handsome young man with a pure aura standing there.

The man held a small knife in his hand, its blade glinting with ethereal light.

”Get lost, punk, or else I’ll make you get lost,” Ethan snorted coldly.

He didn’t give a damn if they belonged to some superior race. He wouldn’t allow disrespect
