Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 509: Chapter 367: Laughing Until You Cry

7:00 a.m.

Lin Feng and his group were having breakfast in the hotel restaurant. There were quite a few people, a total of eighteen.

In addition to the ten members of the Avengers Alliance, there were Bu Zheng and Dong Xiuxian, as well as Yun Lin and Bai Ji, and three from Red Cloud University.

The group was seated around a round table, with fifty to sixty dishes on the table.

The breakfast was lavish, so much so that calling it a full Han-Manchu feast wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

Originally, the hotel’s breakfast was buffet style; you had to get whatever you wanted yourself, and there was no service. However, for the past couple of days, Lin Feng and his group have been receiving special treatment for all three meals.

Before Lin Feng and his group even arrived at the restaurant, the kitchen had already started setting up the specially prepared meals that covered the entire table.

Tomorrow, they would enter the Land of Chaos. While everything else remained the same, the food treatment was upgraded dramatically.

Although there were many people dining at the hotel, no one had any complaints about this.

It wasn’t just about the treatment; in the past couple of days, no matter where they went, even strangers became exceptionally warm and friendly, and people would occasionally come up to greet them and offer their encouragement.

”Brother Feng, with them acting like this, it actually feels a bit awkward for me.”

Little Sister Dong quietly said, sitting beside Lin Feng.

Not far away, an elderly grandmother had slightly reddened eyes as she watched them. When she caught Little Sister Dong’s gaze, she still tried to give a kindly smile.

Little Sister Dong returned a smile and quickly looked away.

”Just eat your food,” Lin Feng said.

This atmosphere was indeed a bit awkward, but he also knew it was with good intentions.

It felt as if they were about to go to war, and there was a good chance they might not come back.

It was still alright at the hotel, but if they went out, it would be even more so.

Because they would be entering the Land of Chaos tomorrow, along with the oppressive atmosphere, there was also a hint of sadness.

”Yo, the One-Armed Brother has arrived too.”

Suddenly, Yu Qiao made a teasing remark while eating a bun.

Lin Feng looked up to see more than twenty young men and women at the restaurant entrance. They were all familiar professional players, with Xie Yixiao, whose right hand was wrapped in gauze, walking ahead.

Although the Rookie Challenge had ended, due to the fusion of the Space Gate, Shangjing was under a red alert, the Guardian Divine Artifact had ceased transmission, and all major Space Gates were in lockdown. They were forced to stay in Shangjing.

The Glory Alliance was in turmoil, with competitions and events fully stopped; returning to the clubs held no meaning.

Coaches also informed them not to return for the time being, to stay in the hotel temporarily.

Although some wanted to go home, professional players were currently under heavy scrutiny and ridicule. With volunteers entering the Land of Chaos tomorrow, going out at this particular moment was clearly not a wise choice.

Hence, most professional players remained in the hotel, waiting for notification from the Alliance and their clubs.

The professional players obviously noticed Lin Feng’s group. Facing the crowd’s stares, some ignored them directly, while others glanced and quickly looked elsewhere.

The restaurant was filled with one to two hundred people having breakfast, and when the professional players appeared, many people’s eyes showed mockery, some shook their heads and sighed.

The once-glorious professional players now seemed like street rats, loathed by everyone.

”A bunch of losers.”

”Still call themselves All-Stars, what a joke!”

”They can only play matches in the ring, just a bunch of entertainers. When the crucial moment comes, they all turn into cowards.”

”Even college students dare to go to the battlefield, and those with greater strength choose to be turtles, it’s utterly shameful.”

”It’s normal to fear death, aren’t you afraid as well?”

”If I had their strength, I’d go even if afraid.”

People murmured, and some didn’t even lower their voices, seemingly wanting to be heard.

Hearing these discussions, the faces of the professional players changed again and again, their expressions uncertain.

Some turned red-faced, slightly bowing their heads in shame.

Some clenched their fists, showing signs of anger, while others remained expressionless with no reaction.

Two or three even scoffed, indifferent.

Although everyone reacted differently, no one dared to argue back directly or start a quarrel, as doing so would only harm themselves with news spreading.

Moreover, many important figures and strong individuals were present; it was easy to get into trouble if not careful.

”Had I known, I’d have eaten in the room.”

Someone murmured softly, but no matter how much they regretted it now, leaving would only be more embarrassing.

Those not entering the Land of Chaos received no special treatment, so seeing Lin Feng and others’ exquisite dishes and lavish breakfast, some professional players’ eyes showed anger and dissatisfaction.

Silently, professional players got their meals, no one spoke, and they ate quickly, seemingly wishing to finish sooner and return to their hotel rooms.

People’s gazes made them feel oppressed and furious.

While everyone was eating, Yun Tianqi and Ye Xing also arrived in the restaurant.

Compared to Xie Yixiao and his group, when Yun Tianqi appeared, people greeted him enthusiastically, even asking for autographs and photos.

The controversy surrounding professional players clearly had no effect on the two, and compared to before, their popularity was even higher.

”See, that’s a real All-Star, not just anyone can call themselves a star.”

Someone scoffed nearby.

Listening to the harsh chuckles and seeing the vast difference in treatment, Xie Yixiao and the others looked very upset.

After signing, Yun Tianqi glanced at the position of the professional players and walked directly towards Lin Feng and the others without any hesitation.

Watching this, Ye Xing, facing Xie Yixiao and his teammates’ gaze, looked at Yun Tianqi’s retreating figure and then walked over to Xie Yixiao.
