Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 468: Chapter 340: Retirement

Since the Space Gate merged, the entire country has fallen into a state of turmoil.

In the past two days, the Glory Professional Alliance has also suspended most of its matches, and for the few that haven’t been paused, the viewership ratings are agonizingly low, setting a historic record.

The previously bustling Professional Alliance suddenly went quiet.

Professional players, once in the spotlight of fans, seemed to have lost their halo. No one discussed them, no one paid attention, and no engagements.

Walking on the street, the once-enthusiastic cheers of fans were nowhere to be seen.

Professional players at this time felt lost and panicked, as if they had become ordinary people.

Their career paths seemed to have ended prematurely.

Faced with the imminent invasion of the alien race, various industries were in an economic slump, but the entertainment industry was exceptionally booming, yet few had the mood to watch matches.

Compared to watching matches, people preferred to directly enjoy life.

As for those stars, it’s not like the fans hadn’t seen them before.

The lack of attention meant that professional players were soon to have no income.

This was a severe blow to many professional players.

They were used to being surrounded by fans, practicing daily, and occasionally playing matches to make money easily and quickly.

Asking them to enter other-dimensional space gates to hunt Demon Beasts and fight against alien races, some have already lost the motivation and courage for it.

At this moment, an important meeting was underway on the top floor of the Glory Mansion.

Representatives from the top ten clubs and the powerful S-level clubs in the alliance were all present.

The content of the meeting was nothing more than discussing how the alliance should develop in the future.

Outside the conference room, hundreds of professional players gathered, looking at the meeting room door, discussing in hushed tones.

In the days without matches, even practice seemed unnecessary, with many professional players feeling uneasy, as if life suddenly lost its purpose.

”Do you guys think the Glory Alliance will still exist?”

”It definitely will. If it doesn’t, then what will the audience watch! The purpose of the Glory Alliance, aside from the Glory Battle, is to attract people’s attention. Without matches to capture attention, people will find it easier to overthink.”

”With the alien invasion, are you still going to have matches? Can you really play them? Without being cursed to death by the audience and fans!”

”I think it’s kind of dangerous. Didn’t you see yesterday’s ratings? Pitiable! At this time, who still has the mood to watch matches? Without an audience, there are no sponsors for the matches, and we have no value.”

”There should be a reform. If there’s no reform, it’s a dead end.”

”As long as the Glory Battle exists, the alliance will exist. Rest assured.”

”It’s better to find other paths. After all, it’s not something you can rely on for a lifetime. It’s just a matter of time.”

Some people looked worried, while others were indifferent.

Compared to them, the high-level officials were surely more anxious.

For some, leaving the Glory Alliance might not be a bad thing.

In a relatively empty area, nine young men and women gathered together. From time to time, someone would glance at them, but no one dared to approach.

Because those nine represented the Top Ten Glory All-Stars, the most dazzling existence in the alliance.

Although they were all professional players, as members of the Top Ten All-Stars, their identities and statuses towered over other professional players. Approaching them rashly would be impolite.

Being rejected would be a self-inflicted humiliation.

”What are your thoughts?”

Yun Tianqi folded his arms, leaning against the wall, and asked.

Beside him, Ye Xing quietly watched the noisy crowd, speaking calmly:

”What thoughts can there be? Sooner or later, we’ll have to leave the Professional Alliance. We weren’t going to stay long anyway.”

On the side, Xie Yixiao, seeing Ye Xing and Yun Tianqi so close, like brothers, had an unpleasant look on his face. However, others thought it was just because his arm was injured, so they didn’t pay much attention.

”The alliance doesn’t really matter. As Ye Xing said, we weren’t going to stay for many years anyway. The main thing is the Glory Battle. You have to understand, our goals are all about the Glory Battle!”

A girl about 1.65 meters tall, wearing a purple princess dress, looked very quiet but had a curvy figure, spoke up.

Among the Top Ten Glory All-Stars, there were eight men and only two women. The one who spoke was Xia Ran, and she was one of them.

She was the captain of the Neon Team, not very old, having just turned 26 this year, but was already the league’s number one Mage.

Though she appeared gentle and quiet, like a lady, she was extremely fierce in battle, with a favorite move of throwing giant rocks.

A single Earth Magic spell from her was often accompanied by landslides, shaking the earth and mountains, causing a huge commotion.

Beneath Xia Ran’s gentle appearance was a violent heart.

”If the Space Gate merges successfully, even the Glory Battle will cease to exist, and even if it still does, I wouldn’t have a place there. We should consider where to go in the future.”

Towering at two meters tall, Zhang Yao, with a muscular build, spoke.

Also an All-Star, Zhang Yao, like Ye Xing, was a Berserker. With Ye Xing’s presence, even if the Glory Battle continued, he wouldn’t have the chance to be a main player.

Competition in the Glory Battle was intense. Even among All-Stars, only a few could be selected as main players.

This globally watched event was reserved for only a handful of people.

Ye Xing could feel Zhang Yao’s resentment but didn’t care.

The Glory Alliance was inherently fiercely competitive. This applied to main players, the positions of the Top Ten All-Stars, and the fight for the Glory Battle.

Thinking of this, Ye Xing’s lips curled into a slight smile, tinged with a hint of mockery.
