”Young Master Zhang? What are you doing here? Oh, thank goodness! With you here, we’ll definitely be safe today, right, Little Yan?”

Upon seeing the short, squat man with a slicked-back pompadour arrive, the heavily made-up Wang Qin forced an excited expression onto her face and hastily shot Chu Yan a meaningful look.

At this, Miss Chu Yan instinctively frowned. She couldn’t believe she’d run into this persistent, disgusting man here of all places. But when she saw the look in her best friend’s eyes and remembered their current predicament, she felt a wave of helplessness. Still, she managed to force a smile onto her pretty face. ”Young... Young Master Zhang, hello. What brings you here?”

”I just got back from abroad. What’s going on with you two? Lucky for you, I happened to glance over and thought I recognized you from behind, so I came to check. Hey!” he said, showing off before turning to the thugs. ”What are you guys doing? Don’t you know this is a public place? Scaring people like this?”

With a grandiose air, the man known as Young Master Zhang strode up to the tattooed man in the suit, casting a sidelong glance as he berated him.

”Hey, kid, you’ve got some nerve, don’t you? What do you think you’re doing? Can’t you tell who we are?” the tattooed man shot back, a strange glint in his eyes. Then, as if performing in a play, he bellowed his words.

Obviously, the short man in the suit was none other than Zhang Quan, the Young Master Zhang whom Miss Chu Yan and Wang Qin had been discussing. He was the very same person Chen Fei had taught a harsh lesson to before.

That incident had caused such a massive uproar that it had enraged his father. Zhang Quanchuan had nearly slapped his son’s face swollen and beaten his backside raw. To show the proper attitude to Secretary Dong, he had even banished Young Master Zhang Quan to some godforsaken place abroad to lay low. It was only recently, after things had finally blown over, that his father had allowed him to come crawling back.

Having been cooped up overseas for so long, Young Master Zhang was naturally on a short fuse. Then, by a stroke of luck, he encountered a peerless beauty like Miss Chu Yan and was instantly smitten. He launched a series of persistent and shameless advances, but unfortunately for him, none of them worked. Chu Yan simply couldn’t stand a scoundrel like him.

This, of course, infuriated Young Master Zhang Quan to no end. But then, he had a stroke of genius and devised a brilliant plan. That plan led to the scene playing out today. Damn it, with such perfect inside and outside coordination, this is seamless. I refuse to believe this little wench won’t take the bait!

”Who are you?”

At that thought, Zhang Quan arrogantly lifted his chin, adopting an incredibly pompous posture. He tilted his head back and looked down his nose at the tattooed man. ”Since you’ve asked so sincerely, this Young Master will do you the favor of telling you! Listen up! My surname is Zhang, my given name is Quan, and my father is Zhang Quanchuan! Now do you know who you’re dealing with?”

”Hmph! Daring to talk about status in front of me?” he added, his head held high with pride.

”Hiss… Isn’t that Secretary Zh—”

A series of sharp gasps filled the air. The tattooed, suit-clad man, Brother Dao, and his lackey stared at Zhang Quan with expressions of ’shock’. Brother Dao’s face took on a trembling look as he forced a fawning smile. ”So it’s Young Master Zhang! My deepest apologies. I’ve heard so much about you. I am—”

”Shut up! This Young Master has no interest in who you are,” Young Master Zhang cut him off imperiously, acting as if he and Chu Yan were the closest of friends. ”Just tell me what’s going on. Didn’t you know that Little Yan and Miss Wang are friends of mine? Are your eyes in your ass?”

Hearing him use the intimate name ’Little Yan’, Miss Chu Yan subconsciously frowned again. On any other day, she would have been repulsed by a playboy like Zhang Quan addressing her so familiarly, but now...

”Little Yan, this is amazing! We’re saved!” Wang Qin, dressed in a sexy camisole, whispered excitedly to her friend. ”He’s just as amazing as they say. The second he announced who he was, Brother Dao and his gang didn’t dare say another word. He’s so powerful... I’m so jealous. If only I had someone like that who liked me.”

Clearly, she was very good at reading a situation.

”What are you talking about? I have zero interest in him,” Chu Yan replied, still frowning.

Meanwhile, Brother Dao was already nodding and bowing before Young Master Zhang Quan. He bent at the waist and explained with a sycophantic grin, ”Young Master Zhang, please, let me explain. The thing is, this little wench lost a lot of money at our establishment. She owes us a huge debt and was trying to run off, so...” As he spoke, he pointed a finger at Wang Qin.

Understanding her cue, Wang Qin nodded slightly, put on a pitiful expression, and whispered tearfully in Chu Yan’s ear, ”Little Yan, I...”

”Don’t worry, it’ll be okay,” Chu Yan said, comforting her friend. Seeing her in such a pathetic state, her resolve softened.

”Oh, is that so? Miss Wang, is that true?” Young Master Zhang Quan raised his voice, turning to look at the two women as if seeking confirmation. He frowned slightly. ”Gambling is no good. Look, now you have people like this coming after you. If your boss found out, think of the terrible impression it would make.”

As he spoke, a shrewd glint flashed in his ugly eyes before he put his mask of a righteous gentleman back on. His gaze shifted to Miss Chu Yan. ”But,” he said with an air of concern, ”since you and Little Yan are such good friends, Little Yan’s business is my business. Don’t worry, we can sort this out.”

”Really? That’s wonderful! Young Master Zhang, thank you so much! I... I... Little Yan, look...” Wang Qin’s face lit up. Following a subtle look from Young Master Zhang, she turned to her friend, tugging on Chu Yan’s sleeve as she spoke in a tearful, pitiable voice.

”I... I... alright.”

Witnessing this charade and hearing Zhang Quan’s disgusting words, Miss Chu was utterly repulsed. But when she heard her friend’s trembling voice and saw the fresh tear stains on her pretty face, her heart couldn’t help but soften. She forced herself to look at Zhang Quan’s face, which she found hideous, and squeezed out a smile. ”Young Master Zhang, you see... could you possibly lend us some money?”

”Money? Little Yan, don’t be a stranger. If there’s one thing I, Zhang Quan, don’t lack, it’s money! Name your price,” he declared, shooting a ’well done’ look at Wang Qin. He puffed out his chest, striking a boastful pose.

”The amount... it’s quite large. We need to borrow... 600,000,” Miss Chu stammered, feeling sick to her stomach. She knew perfectly well that someone like Young Master Zhang, who was born with a golden key, wasn’t short on cash. But now she had to leverage her connection to him to borrow such a huge sum. What if he used it to blackmail her later...

Sure enough, the moment Chu Yan said 600,000, a look of cunning triumph flashed in Young Master Zhang’s eyes. He then feigned difficulty. ”600,000, you say? To come up with that much all at once might be a little...”

”Young Master Zhang, we know it’s a lot, but with your status and your family’s wealth, it’s surely no problem at all. Right, Little Yan?” Wang Qin chimed in, secretly signaling to her friend, terrified that her only lifeline might disappear.

Seeing this, Chu Yan felt helpless but saw no other way out. She managed a strained smile. ”Young Master Zhang, as you can see, we’re really out of options. Could you... please help us?” She was careful to add, ”Don’t worry, Aqin will definitely pay you back in the future. Right, Aqin?”

”Of course, of course!” Wang Qin nodded vigorously.

”Since you’ve asked me personally, Little Yan, then I, Zhang Quan, certainly can’t refuse. Like I said, your business is my business,” Zhang Quan said with a decisive tone. ”However, I’m afraid I can’t get my hands on 600,000 right this second. How about you give me a day?” He then glanced at the tattooed man.

”Of course, no problem at all! Absolutely no problem!” Brother Dao immediately began bootlicking, nodding and bowing. ”With a personal guarantee from Young Master Zhang, forget one day, three or five days would be completely fine!”

”That’s more like it,” Young Master Zhang nodded as if it were his due. A wicked grin spread across his fat, ugly face. ”It’s only 600,000, after all. With a little time, I can pull it together easily. So how about this, Little Yan? Why don’t you come to my villa in Sea River tonight to pick up the money?” he asked, his eyes burning as he stared at her.

The fox had finally shown its tail.

”Zhang Quan, what do you mean by that?” Miss Chu’s expression changed dramatically, a flush of anger rising on her beautiful face.

Go to his villa? If I really go, isn’t it obvious what would happen? What does this man take me for? He’s absolute scum! A pervert!

”What, you bitch, not willing?” Hearing her, Young Master Zhang’s face fell. ”Do you really think you’re something special?” he snarled viciously. ”Can’t even be bought for 600,000? Are you plated in gold? You ungrateful slut!”

Clearly, he had never imagined that this little bitch would dare to refuse him, even at this stage. Does she think 600,000 is just paper? Is she made of solid gold? Damn it, what an ungrateful whore!

”You... you... you...” Miss Chu trembled with rage, her bright face turning crimson. She couldn’t believe he would say such filthy things to her in public.

But in the next moment, a familiar voice suddenly sounded beside her. ”Say, it looks like you might need my help right now, doesn’t it?”

”You big jerk! It’s you?”

Seeing the familiar figure who had suddenly appeared before her, Miss Chu froze in stunned silence.

”It’s—it’s you!?” Of course, someone else was stunned too. When Young Master Zhang saw Chen Fei’s unforgettable young face, he first froze, then his expression shifted instantly to one of utter shock. His short, squat body began to tremble uncontrollably.

Holy shit! Why is he here?!
