Shen Yuqing screamed as he was kicked flying.

”Young Master Shen!”

The group of young men paused for a second, then immediately rushed towards Jiang Chen.

”Mom, step aside!” Jiang Chen pushed Shen Xiaoqin to the side and charged directly at the oncoming group of young men.

Bang bang bang!

”Ah!”

”Ouch!”

A series of muffled sounds and cries of pain arose, and in the blink of an eye, all the young men who had charged at Jiang Chen were lying on the ground.

”What? He’s that fierce?!” Shen Mingtao and the others were stunned.

Shen Xiaoqin, who had been full of worry, breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this scene.

Clang! Clang!

The other young men who hadn’t managed to approach Jiang Chen were terrified by his ferocity.

In the countryside, it’s like this: whoever is tough and has the bigger fists is the boss!

So, these young men threw down their farm tools in fright and turned to run.

When Shen Yuqing climbed up from the ground, he saw people lying all around Jiang Chen, turned white, and thought of running away too.

Jiang Chen had been watching him closely, stepped forward, and kicked again.

”Bang!”

Shen Yuqing flew straight out like a shot goose, then thud, fell to the ground and ate a mouthful of mud.

But he didn’t dare linger. Enduring the pain, he quickly scrambled up and bolted.

”You stop right there!” Jiang Chen bellowed, ready to chase after Shen Yuqing.

”Xiaochen, don’t chase him!” Shen Xiaoqin hurriedly ran to Jiang Chen and stopped him.

”What’s the matter with you? Huh? Why did you start fighting with the villagers?”

”You just got back and you already start fighting...”

Shen Mingtao and the others were also scared witless, but relying on the fact that they were Jiang Chen’s elders, they wanted to step forward and lecture him.

Jiang Chen turned his head and stared coldly at Shen Mingtao and the others, like a tiger that had entered a rabbit’s den, his eyes emitting a chilling coldness.

”Hiss—”

Shen Mingtao and the others took a sharp breath, immediately halting in their tracks, closing their mouths, and shivering in their hearts.

Whether Jiang Chen was a waste was unclear, but his ability to fight was seriously fierce.

Too terrifying!

...

After Shen Mingtao and the others left, Jiang Chen helped Shen Xiaoqin clean up a bit.

Night fell, and mother and son chatted in a small thatched hut of less than twenty square meters.

”You’ve been living here these days?” Jiang Chen looked at the simple room with a deeply furrowed brow.

Shen Xiaoqin sighed softly, ”Xiaochen, don’t blame your uncles, I owe our hometown and my family too much. When your grandparents passed away, I didn’t manage to come back in time to see them off. I was too afraid to come back, fearing that the Ye Family would find me, I...whimper...”

As she spoke, Shen Xiaoqin started crying.

”Mom, rest assured, I will definitely sort things out for our hometown and relatives!” Jiang Chen wrapped his arms around Shen Xiaoqin, gently patting her back, his eyes showing a determined look.

All night, the mother and son talked until late before going to sleep. Returning to her hometown brought Shen Xiaoqin many deep feelings, and she recounted many past events to Jiang Chen, who listened attentively, understanding his mother’s youthful experiences.

The next day, Jiang Chen woke up early to help his mother prepare the meal, and the mother and son had breakfast together warmly.

”Attention, all villagers, please pay attention. Everyone, come to the ancestral temple at ten in the morning, where we will discuss the renovation of the ancestral temple and the reinstatement of the family register,” a voice came from afar as the loudspeaker from the village authority started to blare.

Jiang Chen was startled for a moment, then turned to look at Shen Xiaoqin.

Shen Xiaoqin smiled faintly, ”Let’s go. I’ve heard about this a few days ago. It’s quite a coincidence that I came back just in time to participate in the renovation of the ancestral temple and the reinstatement of the family register.”

Jiang Chen looked deeply at Shen Xiaoqin. Through last night’s conversation, he understood how deeply his mother felt about her hometown.

He decided that he must help his mother with this.

After breakfast, the two of them tidied up and, as it was almost ten, they set off towards the ancestral temple. Shen Xiaoqin talked to Jiang Chen about the details concerning the renovation of the ancestral temple and the amendment of the family register.

It wasn’t long before they arrived at the Shen Family’s village ancestral temple.

In front of the temple, a table was set up, ready for the reinstatement of the family register and to tally the amounts donated by everyone for the temple’s renovation.

At the table, Village Chief Shen Mingcheng glanced at Jiang Chen and Shen Xiaoqin amid the crowd, his eyes narrowing and a cold smirk appearing at the corner of his mouth.

His son had given him a good talk about this Jiang Chen last night.

Daring to hit my son, truly not putting me, the village chief, in his eyes.

Hmph, let’s see how you handle this!

Withdrawing his gaze and scanning around, Shen Mingcheng suddenly raised his voice, ”Regarding the renovation of our ancestral temple and the reinstatement of the family register, I have a proposal.”

”What proposal?”

”Village Chief, what proposal?”

The villagers looked at Shen Mingcheng with puzzled expressions.

”Her, Shen Xiaoqin!”

Shen Mingcheng suddenly pointed at Shen Xiaoqin, ”When she was young, she violated the rules and left the village covertly; she was disloyal to our village. And she never returned to see her parents even after they died, which is unfilial! I propose that we remove her name, Shen Xiaoqin, from the family register!”

The villagers were stunned upon hearing this, and they all looked towards Shen Xiaoqin.

Some nodded, thinking the Village Chief was right.

Others thought the Village Chief was exaggerating; after all, the family register represents blood ties, a big deal. How could one be removed so casually?

But those who knew the backstory understood that this was the Village Chief seeking revenge!

”Village Chief, no, you can’t do this...” Upon hearing this, Shen Xiaoqin’s face turned deathly pale, and she staggered, almost unable to stand.

Jiang Chen, standing behind her, supported Shen Xiaoqin. He glanced at Shen Yuqing, who stood beside Shen Mingcheng looking pleased with himself, and it was clear to him that this was retaliation against himself.

Instantly, a surge of rage flared up within him!

Being removed from the family register meant that this person was no longer part of the village, no longer bearing the Shen surname. For Shen Xiaoqin, who had deep affection and guilt for her hometown, this was as shocking as a bolt from the blue.

This was like a death sentence for his own mother!

Too cruel!

”Bastard!” Jiang Chen growled softly, his steps moving as he prepared to charge forward.

”Xiao Chen.”

Shen Xiaoqin tightly grasped Jiang Chen and then turned to cry out to Shen Mingcheng, ”Village Chief, you really can’t do this, I may not have done well, but I belong to this village, you can’t remove my name from the family register!”

”Hmph, do you think you’re part of the village just because you say so? Where have you been all these years?” Shen Mingcheng sneered disdainfully, looking at Shen Xiaoqin and said coldly, ”I am the Village Chief; what I say goes!”

”No!” Tears fell from Shen Xiaoqin’s eyes immediately.

Seeing Shen Xiaoqin in such sorrow, Shen Mingcheng and his son Shen Yuqing appeared even more smug.

Then, Shen Mingcheng lifted his head, his tone shifting, ”Of course, I’m not without mercy.”

Saying that, Shen Mingcheng glanced at Jiang Chen and continued arrogantly, ”If you don’t want to be removed from the family register, then you and your son must kneel in front of the ancestral temple for three days and three nights, and bow your heads to apologize to my son. Otherwise, don’t even think about staying in this village anymore.”
