Master Of None

Chapter 2945: 2945. Perfumes

”How are you two doing?” Walker and Alice were walking along after Gil and Alma had taken their own breaks and decided to head back to the work they needed to accomplish.

While Walker and Gil had shared their experiences about the changes they noticed in their bodies and what they had missed, they had a lot of similar feelings too. Mostly related to the fact that they would miss the soreness from certain training in their bodies.

This was tough for them since they could have been pushing their bodies to points that damaged them in small ways which could build up over time. However, it was also why they would find themselves being healed or using potions more often and needing more nutrition in the long run.

All things that could slow their growth when they became much stronger overall.

For the place that they were in now, they could be called very powerful. Even some of the strongest in the world as a whole. Yet, they were not truly powerful when compared to those outside of the world.

That was the key.

They understood that their growth was still foundational and that they needed to improve their bodies in a healthy way. From there, they would need to build their strength in small ways so that their leaps were equally solid without room to fall apart or leave holes in their overall strength. Hence their focus on resistance training at times.

It also was a way for them to show the natural progression to the people better.

The real focus on the changes though, was that they could understand the changes in their bodies better. They had understood the changes very well in terms of magic, mana, and their skills. But just the changes to organs or how their bodies worked as a whole? Not much at all.

Walker himself found changes to the ways that his body stored manas and how he pushed mana through organs like his heart. By understanding that pressure weighs on his heart differently because of space mana and related skills, he could better understand how to buff himself with life mana and spur his growth in a healthier and more substantial way.

Gil was able to realize the sight changes that were stressing his muscles when he would fire a bow. The pressure on his tendons that would need more mana and focus when healing and recovering so that he would not push beyond the limits of what could harm him. He had already noticed that he had some spots in his elbows that needed a rest and minor healing.

For an archer, any damage to their arms could throw off their aim slightly. For Gil, who could aim at something extremely far away, he understood that he could miss targets by a huge margin if he was injured in any way.

For dangerous situations like supporting a front line fighting, if they were off slightly, it could mean hitting an ally. That would be unacceptable.

This also brought a lot of focus for them toward the change in the world and how people adjusted to the higher mana. They would need to remember that they had to focus on their bodies too.

”Brother, we are doing well. We were walking to patrol the guard groups we split some of the young ones in to. They are all showing good signs of growth today!” The pride that Onyx had also reflected on how Midnight reacted, however, Midnight was looking at Walker curiously and sniffing the air around himself and Alice.

”Sister?” Onyx realized that the conversation was halted while Midnight acted oddly. But after a moment, he started to flick his tongue and also noticed an odd change. ”Brother, you smell sweeter. Like you have something different about you now?”

”Well, I was training with Gil without using mana and focusing on mana senses. We were focusing on our bodies and how we might have neglected the changes we went through as we have grown. We both noticed muscle soreness, some wear and tear on joints, and even changes in our organs that naturally heal when we bring more aman through out bodies, but still needs to be tracked so we can keep growing well enough.”

”But if you smell sweeter that might be me.” Alice pulled out a small vial of what looked like perfume.

’Dew drop perfume

This is a perfume made by a unique sub alchemist class that allows for the scents and not the mana based effects of herbs to be utilized. It can also contain fruits and other scents but this one is made with the oils from the morning dew flower flower, the...

It is sweeter in scent but will linger for up to three days. It is known for causing people to feel calm and relaxed. There is a version made with pheromones to assist in the attraction of mossy rabbits which gives it a more earthy scent...’

”I was going to ask how training could affect how I smell.” Walker laughed but realized that spending more time with Alice the past couple of days had left her perfume handing on him more strongly.

Before they could stop her, Midnight snatched the little bottle and spritzed herself too matching Alice. She also leaned on Alice showing that she clearly liked the smell a lot too.

”We can find some for you. We might be able to find a perfume that helps you in battle too. I heard that there is a battle perfumer class who makes perfumes that can cause anger, berserk states, and even poisonous effects like sleep and paralysis.” This perked up Midnight’s attention even more. She hadn’t realized that she would be able to get her own, she had rarely even considered getting perfume ever.

”I never really considered that to be a thing. I know battle alchemists will make smoke or mist like potions that explode and cause damage to an area poisoning people. But a perfume based class? That sounds very interesting.” Walker saw that Alice was excited to show Midnight and was already hand in hand with her dragging her away.

”Brother, should we follow them?” The skeptical look in Onyx’s eyes proved that he wasn’t sure about this change. But also wished he could see a little more information about it.

The shop that Ailce brought Midnight to with Onyx and Walker in tow was actually somewhat nearby. It was nice walking together and it gave Onyx the chance to point out a few of the small groups of dragon hatchlings and serpent hatchlings following stronger, more developed guard squads.

This was like a temporary walk about and learning for them. Something that was becoming more common.

Some of the groups that knew who Walker was knew that he had spent a lot of time learning as much as he could from as many people as he could. Nowadays, that was even bigger for people to do since they should learn how to follow the paths that make them the happiest. They might find their own path to pursue since they would not need to fear not getting a class or anything.

Therefore, temporary apprentices were becoming a quick and inspiring way to test the waters so to speak. A good way for the youngest who didn’t know what classes and jobs were out there to see if they could find their happiest place. Not to mention a way to get more experience as a younger person looking at the changing world.

The sudden mix of smells that Walker noticed was enough to signal that they were in front of the shop. However, he also noticed that there were wind rune formations set up to bring fresh air in and older air out more than a normal shop.

This was to ensure that there was a lot more business drawn in and fresh air so a customer could smell the scent that they were interacting with more easily. But more so, because the one making the perfumes needed to be able to breathe, and a massive cloud of scents might hinder that.

The moment they opened the door, Walker saw plenty of fresh herbs, flowers, and even some small monster materials. He was instantly enamoured with the vibrant atmosphere since he didn’t expect it to be so lively and bright.

The sound of someone carefully moving glass and working on their creations also made him wonder if this was a more peaceful alchemy lab. Less harsh scents and more powerful focus on scents.

Yet, he saw the shelves of perfumes divided between battle and pleasure. Perfumes for enhancing or harming and perfumes for parties and celebrations or gifts. It was a new aspect of alchemy that he felt he could look in to and learn better because it just might have some uses when Remey was making new potions for a fight too.
