Martial Dao: Peace by Force

Chapter 43: Chapter 41: Searching for ’Stealing Celestial Secret’, a Huge Subsidy

”Wan Ze is dating someone already?”

”But he’s only a freshman.”

”That girl looks so familiar... I think she goes to our school too...”

A young woman with the surname Fang sat in the coffee shop across from the library, chattering nonstop.

Liu Yu thought for a moment before saying, ”I remember her. Sun Fan. She’s a senior from the top class. She was the student representative at the opening ceremony.”

”Huh? The student representative? That means she’s either a genius or from a powerful family!” The young woman was stunned.

She couldn’t understand how Wan Ze had managed to land a big shot like Sun Fan.

”I can’t believe it... So he’s that kind of person!”

Liu Yu said thoughtfully, ”Maybe we’re mistaken...”

”How could we be mistaken! Look how gentle that senior is with him! Besides, would you go on a private date with a guy on the weekend?”

Liu Yu subconsciously wanted to argue, but the words wouldn’t come. She just felt that with Wan Ze’s calm expression, it didn’t look like he was the one pursuing Senior Sister Sun.

As the two were talking, a luxury sedan happened to drive by on the road just outside the door.

Inside the car.

Sun Fan took out a pen and started writing, her large, clear eyes fixed on Wan Ze. ”Anything else?”

The question made Wan Ze a little embarrassed. He mulled it over for a moment before saying, ”Preferably Daoist School classics...”

”You want to read Daoist School classics?” Sun Fan was a little surprised.

Wan Ze pondered for a moment, then asked, ”I read about something called Stealing Celestial Secret somewhere before, and it made me curious.”

”Stealing Celestial Secret? Never heard of it.” Sun Fan shook her head, thinking for a moment. ”That kind of esoteric phrasing does sound like something from the Daoist School. I’ll look for you.”

”Thanks.”

”Don’t be so formal with me. I’m treating you to a meal.”

Hearing this, Wan Ze chuckled lightly.

...

After dinner, the luxury sedan dropped Wan Ze off at the entrance to his residential complex.

”Are you still going to the dojo tonight?” Sun Fan asked, leaning on the car window.

”I am.” Wan Ze nodded.

Sun Fan immediately grinned. ”Then it’s a date! We’ll spar tonight. You’d better watch out, ’cause I’m really good now.”

Wan Ze couldn’t help but smile, and he waved goodbye.

He watched the car drive away before turning to go home.

Not long after he left, a tall girl in slippers emerged from a corner. It was the guitar girl from across the hall... She was holding a black trash bag, staring blankly at Wan Ze’s retreating figure.

Her expression was one of utter confusion.

’Seriously, what... what’s his deal?’

’Another! New car!!!!’

...

”Big brother!!!!”

Xiaoyu leaped directly into Wan Ze’s arms.

Wan Ze smiled and patted her little head, then looked up at Father Wan. ”Dad.”

”Last night... was everything okay?” Father Wan was a bit worried. Although he wasn’t a Martial Artist, his colleagues at work often chatted about bizarre and fantastical things, so he couldn’t help but worry.

”What could happen? It was just intensive training at the dojo last night. It was supposed to be a two-day session, but I did so well that my senior brother in the group let me go. I have to go back to the dojo this afternoon,” Wan Ze said, his explanation a half-truth.

”Okay... You, you shouldn’t overwork yourself.” Father Wan was about to express his concern that his son wasn’t eating well, but he swallowed the words when he saw Wan Ze’s bulging muscles. He coughed lightly. ”I get paid in a couple of days. Let’s go out for a family dinner.”

”By the way, Dad, are you interested in getting a new place?” Wan Ze suddenly asked.

Father Wan was taken aback. He glanced around their small, forty-something-square-meter apartment. It was indeed small for a family of four, and he had always wanted to move. But on their current salaries, moving was a huge problem.

Wan Ze put his sister down, took a check from his pocket, and handed it over. ”Take this money.”

’A check?’

’So... High Level?’

Father Wan took it subconsciously, thinking it was a prank. But when he saw the amount written on it, his eyes went wide as saucers, and he started to stammer. ”This! No! Xiaozhe... Is it April Fools’ Day today? Don’t play this kind of joke on your father! Your father will take it seriously!”

”Dad, what does ’your father’ mean?” Xiaoyu asked innocently, tilting her head up.

Father Wan had no time for her. He clutched the check tightly, his eyes fixed on Wan Ze, terrified of hearing the words ”April Fools’!”

”It’s real. I’m not kidding,” Wan Ze said with a casual smile. He felt a little thirsty and turned to get a glass of water, but Father Wan grabbed him, his voice trembling. ”So much money... Where, where did you get it?”

”A boss gave it to me. My senior brother and I helped him out with something big. My master handled it... Don’t worry, Dad. The money is clean. Spend it freely,” Wan Ze said with a smile.

He knew what a shock this amount of money would be to his family.

But he had to give it to them.

For one, this huge sum was enough to improve their family’s situation.

For another, his martial arts training required him to eat a lot of meat... His family had always bought it for him so he could focus on his Cultivation.

Father Wan was more pensive. He hesitated. ”Since your dojo was involved, and especially your master... shouldn’t you give this money to him as a sign of respect?”

Wan Ze smiled. ”I’ve already thought about all that. This is what Master wanted, too. By the way, in a little while, I’ll have to hold a formal disciple ceremony. You and Mom should be there.”

”Of course we’ll be there!” Father Wan said. He looked at the check again, worried it might be fake, and also worried it might be real.

Wan Ze understood this mentality.

It was the fear born from a life of poverty.

He didn’t concern himself with what his father was thinking.

’If he could earn 100,000 once, then as long as he continued to train hard in his Cultivation, he could earn another 100,000!’

This was the source of his confidence.

His little sister, Xiaoyu, didn’t understand what her brother and father were talking about at all. Seeing her father’s grave expression, as if facing a great enemy, she thought her brother had done something wrong. She subconsciously tugged on the corner of Wan Ze’s shirt, looking up at him with worry in her eyes.

Wan Ze smiled at her, patted her head, and then left.

「Afternoon.」

Father Wan secretly went to the bank by himself. Before going in, he took several deep breaths, afraid he’d be thrown out by the security guards.

In fact, his deep breaths at the bank’s entrance had already attracted the attention of a security guard. Just as the guard was approaching with his baton, Father Wan went inside to the counter.

A moment later, the bank manager personally escorted Father Wan out with the utmost courtesy. ”Mr. Wan, please take care.”

The security guard watched, dumbfounded, and couldn’t help but ask, ”Song Xing, who was that man?”

The manager’s expression was unreadable. He immediately scolded, ”What do you mean, ’that man’? Show some respect when you speak! That’s a major client of our bank! From now on, whenever you see Mr. Wan, I want you all to greet him with a smile! And notify me immediately!”

Everyone was stunned and confused.

Meanwhile, Father Wan returned home as if in a dream. He didn’t even hear what his wife was saying until a sharp pinch on his side made him cry out in pain.

”What’s with you? I called you, why didn’t you answer!” Mrs. Wan said, her eyebrows raised.

”Honey, we’re rich!” Father Wan exclaimed joyfully.

”Hah.” Mrs. Wan didn’t believe him at all. It was only when the passbook showing a deposit of 100,000 yuan appeared that she was completely floored. ”Did you find yourself a sugar mama?”

Father Wan coughed lightly and explained what had happened.

Mrs. Wan was stunned.

She never imagined the money had been earned by their son, Wan Ze. She instinctively started to get up, but then sat back down and looked at Father Wan. ”What else did our son say?”

”He told us to buy a house, move to a better place, and set up a freezer for him to store meat,” Father Wan relayed.

Mrs. Wan was silent for a long time before she said, ”The boy’s grown up. From now on, you’re not allowed to ask him a million questions. Also, wipe that grin off your face. Don’t flaunt your wealth, understand?”

Father Wan nodded repeatedly.

...

「Later that afternoon.」

BANG!

The punching bag flew high into the air.

As it swung back, a hand instantly pressed it firmly in place, stopping it dead.

Wan Ze then let go.

He continued his Cultivation of the Dragon Eagle Secret Martial Arts.

But what no one expected was that at this very moment, Lei Ming and the others had run into big trouble!
