Make the Immortal Sect Great Again

Kunyun had spent a great deal of time pondering his life tribulation, sifting through the many opponents tied to him by karma before finally locking his sights on Kunlun.

Kunlun was the only cultivator who shared karma with him and had yet to be killed by him. The rest had long since been ground to dust, denied even the chance at reincarnation. Under these circumstances, he naturally assumed Kunlun was the key to his life tribulation—his fated nemesis.

Even taking a step back, if it wasn’t Kunlun.

It should at least be another True Transmission at the Tribulation Transcending Third Layer, right? He could even accept it being a Qi Refining practitioner or a Corpse Dissolution Immortal.

But Wang Ping?

A spy from the Brahma Nation? A Tribulation Transcending Second Layer cultivator who had just mastered Divine Powers? An independent cultivator who, at the absolute best, had stumbled upon a few minor lucky encounters—this man was his life tribulation?

More importantly, why was Kunlun sacrificing himself to help the man?

Kunyun’s mind raced as he realized something was terribly wrong. ’I spoke with Great Cultivator Mingyou about this. According to his guidance, things shouldn’t have played out like this.’

Kunlun should have used this Brahma Nation spy as a great elixir, harnessing Uniting Earth to Behold Fire to elevate his own heavenly yang fire and break through to Qi Refining Entering the Dao.

Instead, Kunlun had willingly sacrificed himself, even offering up his destiny form to catalyze the spy’s Uniting Earth to Behold Fire. This flew completely in the face of his earlier deductions... and if that deduction was wrong, what about the others? His entire logical foundation regarding his life tribulation might be flawed! Was destiny truly so unpredictable?

”...”

High in the firmament, Kunyun did not disperse his destiny form, but maintained the appearance of the Jade Horned Dragon. He sprawled across the vast sky, casting his gaze down at Wang Ping.

Lightning seemed to spark and die within his golden draconic eyes, and his searing spiritual sense instantly locked onto Wang Ping. The mighty power of destiny operated alongside this gaze. If Wang Ping were merely at the Tribulation Transcending Second Layer, he would have been swallowed by destiny immediately, his fate forcibly directed toward death.

The Tribulation Transcending Third Layer marked the largest power gap among tribulation-crossing cultivators.

A Tribulation Transcending First Layer True Transmission like You Xuexin could actually hold her own against someone at the Second Layer for a short time by relying on the unique traits of her magical power and chaining together various spells.

There were even instances within Dao Proving Mountain of Tribulation Transcending First Layer cultivators defeating Divine Powers practitioners.

Yet, under the same circumstances, even the weakest Tribulation Transcending Third Layer cultivator facing a Tribulation Transcending Second Layer could obliterate them with a mere breath!

This was not a gap in raw power or profundity.

It was a fundamental difference in nature. One had already established its own shape and foundation within the torrent of destiny, while the other could only drift with the current.

This was exactly what Kunyun was doing now. Without using Divine Powers or profound arts, he merely manifested his destiny form, intending to draw upon destiny to strike Wang Ping dead directly.

However, Wang Ping remained unmoved.

Above his head, the Solar Radiance Crow—the destiny form transferred to him by Kunlun through the Heaven-Stealing Thief’s spell—spread its wings and shielded him beneath them.

Through it, Wang Ping secured a fleeting foothold of his own within the torrent of destiny.

”...Is that all?”

Kunyun’s tone was icy. So what if he was protected by the Solar Radiance Crow? It merely meant he wouldn’t be killed by a single glance. The gap between them still existed.

Regardless, he had already come this far.

’The path of cultivation is full of corpses, and there is never any turning back. I have cultivated to this day, crossing the Human Tribulation, crossing the heavenly tribulation, crossing the life tribulation... There is only moving forward without hesitation.’

’Even if it is wrong, then it is right!’

With no more superfluous words, Kunyun rolled up lightning and fire and let out a long roar. The billowing spiritual qi of heaven and earth was instantly and forcefully compressed, sucked into the lightning dragon’s mouth.

Then, he plummeted!

Lightning and fire filled the sky, as if dragging the entire firmament down in a resounding crash. It was not just him bombarding the earth, but the entire sky collapsing!

Down on the earth, everyone who saw this scene, whether cultivator or martial artist, revealed expressions of terror, forgetting even to flee.

After all, under an overturned nest, how can there be intact eggs?

The sky was collapsing; where could you possibly run to?

”Fuck me...”

On the other side, Wang Ping gritted his teeth and spat a curse. He did not believe for a second that Kunlun was just completing their transaction before death to aid his Uniting Earth to Behold Fire.

In his eyes, this was shifting the blame!

’Bafflingly, I’ve become Kunyun’s life tribulation!’

This was definitely the Heaven-Stealing Thief’s doing!

However, beneath the collapsing sky, in the span of a spark, Wang Ping had no chance to make any adjustments. Since he could resurrect anyway, he simply roused his full essence, qi, and spirit.

He raised his foot and stomped the ground.

”Kill!”

Rumble!

Wang Ping’s figure vanished instantly, and the Ten Thousand Gods Terrestrial Chart unfurled in the wind. The myriad gods within the chart arrayed themselves to construct a shell, and the true form of the Mind Monkey emerged once more.

Wang Ping unleashed this strike fully embracing the thought that even if he died, he had to take a bite out of Kunyun. Yet, the moment the move went out, he immediately sensed something was wrong—the might of his Divine Powers was increasing! Furthermore, it was rising madly at an unimaginable, meteoric speed!

’Uniting Earth to Behold Fire!’

Under the augmentation of the Solar Radiance Crow, this pinnacle yang-fire destiny form, the Wu Earth Divine Power—the Ten Thousand Gods Terrestrial Chart—now obtained a might it originally should not have possessed.

A second later, the Mind Monkey and the lightning dragon slammed into each other.

Immediately, heaven and earth lost their voices, and all things lost their color. Everyone on the ground saw only a momentary burst of incandescent light, followed by a single ripple.

As if tossing a stone into a lake, a ripple that could still be seen clearly despite the distance between heaven and earth spread outward with the two of them at its center. Wherever it passed, the skies were swept clean of dust for ten thousand li. It was as if heaven and earth had collided at this moment, visible no matter where one was.

Closely followed by a second strike.

A third.

A fourth.

Before the ripple from the previous collision had even faded, a new ripple exploded. The process of their collision had completely surpassed the scope of what spiritual sense could capture.

All that met the eye were the results of the collisions.

Kunyun did not say a word. The destiny form, the Jade Horned Dragon, shook its head and inhaled and exhaled spiritual qi. Every claw strike and every tail whip was enough to sink a continent.

Wang Ping, however, fought more bravely as the battle went on. The Mind Monkey pulled out a Sea-Stabilizing Divine Treasure Iron from its ear and danced it through the sky, every strike similarly bearing heaven-toppling mighty power.

Needle point against wheat awn.

A direct clash of hard against hard!

The battle between the two sides intensified. In the beginning, Wang Ping was undoubtedly the one being suppressed. With every collision, the Mind Monkey was blasted back a thousand li.

Yet, no matter how many times Kunyun bombarded him, with the augmentation of the Solar Radiance Crow and the support of the many City God Temples in the Great Shun Capital, the shattered Divine Powers would immediately restructure. The Mind Monkey, having half its body smashed in one instant, could charge back into the fray full of vigor the next.

Because of this, the battlefield of the two sides constantly shifted.

”It’s slowing down!”

In Shuzhong, Chenlong, who had been constantly paying attention to this battle, suddenly narrowed his gaze and revealed a look of pleasant surprise. ”His speed of retreat has slowed, and he isn’t retreating as far either!”

On the other side, Xuanhe also subconsciously stood up.

In fact, everyone secretly observing this battle discovered the truth—the Mind Monkey formed by Wang Ping was becoming more and more stable.

At first, he would be blasted back over a thousand li with a single collision. That gradually became seven or eight hundred li, then three to five hundred, then one or two hundred. Until their most recent collision—

BOOM!

Only at this moment did the sound erupting from their very first collision finally arrive, entering the ears of the crowd on the ground like heavenly thunder rolling through the sky.

Yet high in the firmament, during their most recent collision, neither of them retreated. The Mind Monkey and the lightning dragon crossed paths, clashing several more times in a split second. Rings of ripples surged through the vast sky. They seemed to be nothing but small rings, but if they fell to the earth, they would be a tsunami-like natural disaster.

”Such might...”

Chenlong’s mind was violently shaken as he watched. He couldn’t help but whisper, ”First Seat, although I am invincible... is this really something that brat Wang Ping could do?”

He was not surprised that Kunyun could do it; the People of Heaven were indeed terrifying.

But Wang Ping?

Chenlong could not be clearer on his strength. Even if he had surpassed him now, he shouldn’t have reached this degree. His progress was too exaggerated.

Traversing the universe at will, galloping freely across heaven and earth!

Even in Chenlong’s eyes, this could absolutely no longer be called human.

To put it in an exaggerated way, this was an Earthly Immortal. Never mind the Great Grandmaster Rank; for the first time, Chenlong even felt doubt toward the First Seat he revered so deeply.

”First Seat... could you do something like this?”

By the time he snapped out of his daze, Chenlong had already asked the question.

And answering him was a light chuckle. ”Do not underestimate yourself too much, Chenlong... I have said before, the Martial Dao has a bit more of a future than you imagine.”

”However...”

The next second, the wind picked up. The ethereal woman in white raised her head to look at the sky and said softly, ”This battle... is a great loss. Even winning may not be a good thing.”

Even winning wasn’t a good thing?

Right at this moment, Xuanhe, who was also watching the battle beside him, suddenly let out a cry of alarm. Chenlong finally snapped back to reality and hurriedly pushed his vision to the limit, looking up at the sky again.

Immediately after, he sucked in a breath of cold air.

”Hiss...”

This time, the collision between the lightning dragon and the Mind Monkey lost its balance once again. One side was sent crashing backward. Although it was slight, they had indeed retreated over ten li!

”It’s Kunyun?!”

Xuanhe widened his eyes, almost in disbelief, and looked carefully with his spiritual sense once more.

He even went as far as to actively move closer to the battlefield, enduring the pain of his spiritual sense being torn apart by the shockwaves, just to confirm again—there was no mistake, it was really Kunyun who had retreated!

”Roar!”

Almost simultaneously, a dragon’s roar filled with shock and rage rang out high in the vast sky. As if unable to believe it, he instantly burst forth with lightning and charged back.

The second collision!

This time, both sides returned to an even state. However, the collisions would not stop. After several more exchanges, the scales lost their balance once again, and a figure was blasted back.

It was still Kunyun!

However, this time, Kunyun was powerless to pull the situation back. He could only watch helplessly as the distance he was blasted back grew larger and larger, expanding from a dozen li to a hundred li.

Yet, he had not grown weaker.

Such a short period of collision was not enough to consume much of his magical power—it was not that he had grown weaker, but that Wang Ping on the opposite side was continuously growing stronger!

”How is this possible?!”

Kunyun’s eyes nearly split in rage.

But the Mind Monkey before him seemed as if it would never tire. It swung the Divine Treasure Iron, each staff strike surpassing the last. The might of every blow was stronger than the previous one, finally shaking the Jade Horned Dragon. In a daze, Kunyun seemed to see his own teetering figure atop the torrent of destiny!
