Make the Immortal Sect Great Again

True Transmission Kunyun!

In an instant, Wang Ping’s heart jolted and his pupils shrank. He had never expected to suddenly encounter the very target his plan required him to eliminate.

Was he looking for me?

No, impossible. With the Fate-Fixing Bead in hand, all karmic fluctuations and the flow of destiny were concealed. He could not have been exposed.

Even if a Qi Refining practitioner were standing here, let alone someone at the Tribulation Transcending Third Layer, Wang Ping believed his flaws in karma and destiny would not be caught so easily. If he could be seen through that casually, the Brahma Nation wouldn’t bother sending Brahma Cultivators to infiltrate the Immortal Gate; they might as well just surrender.

Then... what was going on?

In a flash, his conversation with Daoist Xuanhe darted through his mind, and an answer surfaced: A life tribulation! Could this be the influence of a life tribulation?

Had his plan become Kunyun’s life tribulation?

Did Kunyun sense the emergence of this tribulation, prompting him to leave his seclusion to trace the karma, only to discover Xiaoxiang’s death and rush over?

That is highly likely! At this thought, Wang Ping could not tell if he was pleased or worried. He was pleased that his plan could manifest as Kunyun’s life tribulation, proving it had an extremely high chance of success.

On the other hand, Kunyun was no easy target.

A true transmission disciple at the Tribulation Transcending Third Layer had inevitably fought through countless struggles within the Immortal Gate. He was a genuine elite, a seed for the future Qi Refining realm.

If the plan fails and lets him overcome his life tribulation, or even break through to become a Qi Refining practitioner, the consequences will be disastrous. A newly advanced Qi Refining practitioner would thoroughly investigate the situation in Great Shun. I’d have to hide my name and start over from scratch, and the day I become an Immortal Gate True Transmission disciple would be pushed back indefinitely...

Opportunity and risk walked hand in hand.

Wang Ping immediately looked toward Daoist Xuanhe, his gaze complicated. This was clearly an unexpected emergency.

It was also a choice.

Everything depended on whether Daoist Xuanhe, facing the immense pressure of a sudden visit from True Transmission Kunyun, would choose to seize the opportunity or evade the risk.

Will he get scared? Suddenly confronted by Kunyun at his door, if he panics and chooses to turn on me, I’ll have to commit suicide and flee immediately.

Wang Ping calculated the odds while making his preparations.

Rustle...

A breeze swept past. Kunyun paced forward, his Daoist robes fluttering. The earth beneath his feet spontaneously shrank the distance for him, and in the blink of an eye, he stood right in front of Wang Ping.

”Xuanhe, do you have anything to say to me?”

Kunyun’s voice was perfectly calm, like a deep pool with an unseen bottom. It carried no emotion; it sounded like an interrogation, yet also like idle chatter.

Hearing this, before Daoist Xuanhe could even speak, Daoist Yuhong and Yun Xuantong turned pale, their scalps tingling.

We’re doomed!

This shouldn’t be happening. Xiaoxiang was just an outer sect disciple. How could he alarm the pavilion master of the Heaven and Earth Pavilion, the fifth-ranked true transmission disciple? He’s definitely going to investigate us thoroughly now!

A man’s reputation cast a shadow as surely as a towering tree.

The Immortal Gate had hundreds of millions of independent cultivators, nearly ten thousand outer sect disciples, almost a thousand inner sect disciples, and nearly a hundred true transmission disciples. Naturally, those who ranked at the top were feared by countless people.

And Kunyun ranked fifth.

Even excluding the Three Great Academies, ranking fifth among the true transmission disciples of the Eight Immortal Peaks made him a massive figure to them.

Legend had it that during the last Immortal-Brahma Sword Battle, a true transmission disciple of the Brahma Nation had died by his hands.

How could inner sect disciples like them, lacking sufficient backing, not be terrified upon meeting such a prominent figure they would not normally even catch a glimpse of?

Especially right after they had just made a slight mistake.

”Greetings, Senior Brother Kunyun.”

Enduring Kunyun’s gaze, Daoist Xuanhe stayed silent for a moment before finally stepping forward and cupping his hands. ”Answering Senior Brother, I do indeed have something to say.”

”Speak.”

Kunyun’s tone remained as placid as an ancient well. ”You have at least three things to say.”

Daoist Xuanhe’s expression was equally calm as he said in a low voice, ”It has been verified that the inner sect disciple Red Brows is actually a bandit cultivator, and he holds close ties with the cultivators of the Brahma Nation.”

”This time, they joined forces to kill Xiaoxiang, Changyangzi, and Fengyuanzi.”

Yun Xuantong and Yuhong abruptly lifted their heads. This was exactly the ’truth’ the three of them had just discussed and tacitly agreed to report to the Immortal Gate.

However, Kunyun shook his head.

”Wrong. Not that one.”

Without a change in expression, Daoist Xuanhe pulled Wang Ping over and continued, ”This is the personal disciple I cultivated inside the Eight Trigrams Furnace.”

”He obtained a few serendipitous encounters and possesses a true spiritual root. Having cleared the six hundred and sixty-sixth layer of the Dao Proving Mountain, I plan to support him in becoming a new generation’s true transmission disciple.”

Wang Ping saw Kunyun finally seem to show some interest, lowering his eyes to look at him... In an instant, Wang Ping felt as if an invisible, massive mountain had crashed down on him, cutting open his physical body and sea of consciousness, recklessly inspecting him!

Wang Ping did not resist.

Although his abilities were slightly high, everything had a traceable origin. There was nothing he couldn’t show to others. If asked, he would simply claim his talent was exceptional.

Still, he raised his guard.

He did carry a few things he couldn’t afford to reveal—such as the two Brahma Cultivators he had brought with him, his spoils from this battle, and his unique destiny.

Fortunately, Kunyun’s gaze found nothing.

Wang Ping had hidden both the spoils and the Brahma Cultivators inside the Purple-Gold Bowl. As for his Destiny Pattern and providence, the Fate-Fixing Bead helped conceal them.

As magical treasures dedicated for the Brahma Nation’s spies, both the Purple-Gold Bowl and the Fate-Fixing Bead were extremely reliable when it came to hiding traces.

In the next second, however, Wang Ping realized that Kunyun’s gaze was shifting upward, surging into his sea of consciousness, attempting to thrust directly inside for a thorough investigation.

Wang Ping immediately rolled his eyes back.

With a thud, he collapsed onto the ground.

Almost at the same time, the Life-Stealing Thief and the Time-Stealing Thief, both located in the deepest depths of his sea of consciousness, exerted their power and shattered Kunyun’s probing gaze.

”...”

Daoist Xuanhe was not the least bit surprised, nor was he worried that Kunyun’s soul-searching would succeed—this was exactly why so many people became bandit cultivators.

The talismans of the Five Thieves Heaven-Stealing Series could block soul-searching.

As a disciple of the Immortal Gate, who didn’t have a few secrets? If they could be casually soul-searched by anyone at a higher realm, how could they possibly survive?

Therefore, any cultivator with secrets, even those unwilling to become a bandit cultivator, would secretly acquire a talisman from the Five Thieves Heaven-Stealing Series to guard their sea of consciousness.

Kunyun wasn’t surprised by this either. He could only sigh inwardly that the current atmosphere of the Immortal Gate had been corrupted by the Heaven-Stealing Thief. People only cared about guarding their own little secrets; public morals were degenerating, and the beautiful era where everyone met honestly and held no secrets under a soul-search was gone forever.

The main problem was that this sort of thing was difficult to investigate and hard to catch.

If you caught one person and they reported someone else, would you keep catching them? Going round and round, the trail might eventually lead to some highly respected elder.

Therefore, in the Immortal Gate, the Five Thieves Heaven-Stealing Series had long become a method used by everyone. The so-called taboo only served to fool naive, inexperienced disciples.

Kunyun simply withdrew his gaze and looked at Xuanhe again.

”Wrong. Not that one either.”

Whether it was Daoist Xuanhe or Wang Ping, who was feigning unconsciousness, their hearts leaped into their throats. The atmosphere grew heavy.

After a brief silence, Daoist Xuanhe finally spoke.

”My apologies, Senior Brother, but I truly don’t know anything else.”

Good job!

Daoist Yuhong and Yun Xuantong were cheering for Daoist Xuanhe in their heads, even feeling a surge of admiration. When push came to shove, Xuanhe really stood his ground!

Hold the line!

As long as there was no evidence, even a true transmission disciple had no justification to slaughter inner sect disciples here on Bliss Immortal Peak. At the very least, he shouldn’t strike them down in public.

Despite this reasoning, very few people actually dared to publicly contradict a true transmission disciple. Yuhong and Yun Xuantong’s cultivation was no worse than Xuanhe’s, yet facing Kunyun, they didn’t even dare to speak loudly. They could only remark that he truly lived up to being someone straight out of the Eight Trigrams Furnace. Harsh lands indeed bred unruly folk.

Kunyun frowned.

”Truly nothing else?”

In an instant, the heavens tilted and the earth shook!

In the sky above, dark clouds split apart as if the heavens were tearing open; the earth beneath their feet collapsed and stones shattered as if the ground were caving in... Everything mutated entirely because of one person’s divine sense.

Being right next to him, Wang Ping felt it even more profoundly.

In his perception, Kunyun had transformed into a black hole, brazenly swallowing everything in his surroundings without displaying the slightest trace of magical power.

No, the anomalies are just the result!

Wang Ping stopped playing dead. He opened his eyes on the spot, his face filled with shock—and simultaneously did his utmost to sense Kunyun’s current state.

It’s his destiny!

Wang Ping calculated in his mind, growing increasingly horrified.

He isn’t using magical power! He merely displayed his own destiny, and by using its power, forcibly influenced the myriad things of heaven and earth!

If a person’s destiny was the absolute limit of the impact they could have on the world when going all out, then what Kunyun was doing right now was discarding the process of influencing the world and arriving directly at the resulting impact purely from the level of destiny.

Perhaps this could be called ’Severing the Cause to Reap the Effect’!

This is the Tribulation Transcending Third Layer?!

Wang Ping’s eyes went wide, yet the anomalies of heaven and earth continued unabated. His Divine Intent kept sending warnings, foretelling that an extremely intense crisis was imminent.

Everything was futile.

With this ability, if Kunyun wants to kill someone, he doesn’t need to physically act at all. With just a single thought, his destiny will devour me!

Rumble!

A loud boom echoed. All the anomalies suddenly vanished without a trace, leaving Kunyun standing exactly where he was, his expression as calm and breezy as ever.

”...Never mind.”

He said softly, ”Since you don’t want to speak, then say no more... By the way, didn’t you want to resign as a Furnace-Tending Disciple? I permit it.”

”Get some good rest.”

Kunyun’s figure suddenly shattered like a phantom bubble.

Wang Ping looked up at the sky, only to see a streak of light flying rapidly toward them, within which a charming and graceful silhouette was clearly reflected.

Daoist Nun You had arrived.
