Make the Immortal Sect Great Again

At first, no one cared about the disaster.

It was just a missing singer or dancer, a canceled poetry recital, an interrupted banquet—until the disaster affected everyone.

”Is it just my imagination?”

”There seem to be fewer people. The seamstresses are gone, and right after Miss Feng said a few words to Xiao Rui, she hurried backstage too. Why is everyone leaving?”

”Only a few pure courtesans are left.”

”You’ve got to be kidding.”

The usually bustling Red Phoenix Tower had somehow grown noticeably quiet, prompting many patrons to frown.

Even Qingfeng, the top courtesan performing on stage, looked surprised.

Meanwhile, a few wealthy merchants and scholars who practiced martial arts acutely noticed that... the entire Red Phoenix Tower was trembling ever so slightly.

The source of the tremors... seemed to be a certain room?Yet when they strained their ears, they heard only a rising and falling chorus of soft, sultry moans, making it impossible to pinpoint the exact source.

What was going on?

...

Red Phoenix Tower, Secret Sound Pavilion.

Wang Ping sat lazily on a brocade couch. Clothes were scattered across the floor—some his, some belonging to others—tangled among a veritable sea of pale, naked flesh.

Even though the enemy had pressed him at every turn, he remained invincible.

Outside the door, Miss Feng furrowed her delicate brows.

”You still haven’t taken him down?”

The maid beside her looked nervous but couldn’t help licking her lips. ”They all went in, and not a single one has come back out. They were all taken down.”

”He’s even fiercer than Master Liu was back in the day.”

Miss Feng gulped. ”This is from just starting the Iron Ox Art? Even at absolute mastery, a man would only reach this level—if that. He might be even stronger!”

After all, even a master of the Iron Ox Art was still human; taking on ten at once was the absolute limit. Yet the occupant of this private room had been fighting a bloody battle for two full hours straight without a single break. This level of stamina completely defied Miss Feng’s comprehension.

The problem was, things couldn’t go on like this.

Just then, another maid ran in, her face etched with panic. ”Mama Feng, the guests outside have noticed something’s wrong. They’re starting to kick up a fuss.”

”Find a way to calm them down. If that doesn’t work, you’re up.”

”Huh? Me?” The maid pointed at herself blankly.

...

After a moment of silence, Miss Feng shook her head. She looked at the maid beside her, whose cheeks were already flushed, and snapped exasperatedly, ”Hurry up and inform Master Liu.”

”At this rate, he’ll keep going until tomorrow.”

”Today’s business is done for.”

The flushed maid suggested, ”Mama Feng, why don’t you use your silver tongue and try to persuade the young master to rest for a bit?”

”You don’t understand.”

Miss Feng shook her head. ”At this point, words are useless. If words worked... you wait here. I’m going in myself!”

After all, she was the veteran warhorse of the Red Phoenix Tower; her skills far surpassed those of the younger girls.

Taking a deep breath, Miss Feng swayed her waist like a willow in the wind. With the fearless resolve of a soldier marching to her death, she pushed open the door to the private room.

...

Red Phoenix Tower, first-floor main hall.

Dressed as an ordinary merchant to conceal his identity, Xie Shi frowned deeply. His gaze swept the room, no longer paying attention to Qingfeng on the stage.

‘Where did everyone go?’

The increasingly deserted atmosphere almost made him think the County Yamen had laid an inescapable net to catch him, but a closer look revealed this wasn’t the case.

Instead, it seemed more like an unexpected emergency.

He had also noticed the faint trembling of the Red Phoenix Tower. Unfortunately, since he was heavily injured, his hearing was far worse than before, making it nearly impossible to discern the source.

Just then, a sudden clamor broke out in the crowd.

”What? Impossible!”

Someone seemed to have finally coaxed the news out of the passing maids and servants. The moment the word spread, it triggered countless gasps of shock.

”You’re saying a fierce beast of a man came to the tower?”

”All the girls went to serve him?”

”And he’s been fighting for two whole hours without a single break? Even Miss Feng went in and is locked in a bitter struggle?”

”You’ve got to be kidding!”

Unexpectedly, once the news was confirmed, only a minority of the crowd felt angry. The prevailing attitude of the majority was actually curiosity.

Two hours! At this rate, was he going to achieve a hundred conquests in a single day? He definitely wasn’t an ordinary man; he had to have practiced martial arts.

What specific martial art was it? Could they learn it?

Intense curiosity caused the crowd to grow even more restless. Hidden among them, having learned the whole story, Xie Shi wore a dark expression, barely able to keep his composure.

”Damn it...”

He had absolutely no interest in the brute who had practically swept through the entire Red Phoenix Tower. What he cared about was that, because of this mess, the tower clearly wasn’t going to conduct normal business.

Even Qingfeng, the top courtesan on stage, had quietly slipped backstage.

How was he supposed to study beautiful women to perfect his disguise now?

Since this concerned his very survival, Xie Shi’s resentment toward the mysterious brute practically pierced the heavens, yet he didn’t dare show the slightest hint of it.

...

Meanwhile, Wang Ping was feeling incredibly refreshed.

”One hundred and eight!”

On the bed, Wang Ping casually pushed aside Miss Feng, who was completely exhausted and rolling her eyes back. He then sat cross-legged, his hands forming seals in front of his chest.

Inhale! Exhale!

In an instant, Wang Ping felt a faint, ethereal flow of qi surge in through his nose and mouth, threading through his entire body and into his limbs and bones.

This sensation was completely different from normal breathing. This strand of qi seemed to possess some unimaginable, miraculous property. Wherever it passed, his skin, flesh, sinews, and bones underwent an earth-shattering transformation. The sound of his flowing blood grew increasingly loud, right up until this breath of qi fused into the deepest depths of his marrow.

‘This feeling... could this be spiritual energy?’

The next second, a sudden mutation occurred.

Wang Ping’s face actually split outward from the center of his brow, eyes, and nose. The single face horrifyingly presented two distinct appearances.

The half on the left had sharp eyebrows and starry eyes, exuding masculine majesty.

The half on the right had ruby lips and beautiful eyes, exuding a tenderness like water.

Moreover, bizarre flesh tumors swelled up on his chest, back, and under his armpits, resembling the newly developing limbs of an infant—incomparably eerie and grotesque.

Even though he had mentally prepared himself, Wang Ping still felt a chill run down his spine. He quickly calmed his chaotic thoughts, however.

‘Thank goodness for the Iron Ox Art...’

Relying on the relaxed state drilled into him through training, Wang Ping didn’t panic. Instead, he rapidly stabilized his state of mind and focused on mobilizing that strand of miraculous qi inside his body.

‘This is the final step of the Desire Realm Heavenly Birth Method—the body manifesting anomalies. This physical mutation is precisely proof of evolution and a qualitative leap.’

‘But this step also carries immense risks. After all, not all evolution is good; I must control the process with my own will.’

If the direction of his evolution went awry, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Right now, for instance, he was in a superimposed state between a Desire Realm Heavenly Maiden and a Desire Realm Deva. If things went wrong, he might directly transform into a woman.

And that would even be considered a good outcome.

Far worse would be becoming neither man nor woman, or having his physical body collapse outright.

Thinking of this, Wang Ping calmed his mind even further. Strictly following the tenets of the Desire Realm Heavenly Birth Method, he gradually adjusted his mutating body.

‘It’s a pity that the Other-Transformation Freedom Control Desire Realm Celestial Manual is incomplete.’

‘Otherwise, if I had practiced the complete cultivation method before evolving my body, not only would I not be negatively affected by this physical mutation, I would even be able to fully control it.’

‘But I don’t need to fear. The cooldown for Outer Heavenly Demon has already ended. Even if I fail, I can just start over. I have enough room for error.’

Time ticked by.

Finally, Wang Ping opened his eyes, his expression showing neither sorrow nor joy. His previously split facial features merged back together, and the extra limbs swiftly reverted to normal.

”Hard work pays off... it’s done!”

Almost simultaneously, the strand of miraculous qi he had inhaled seemed to exhaust its profound essence, turning into a breath of foul air that he expelled from his mouth.

The Desire Realm Celestial Body was achieved!

In that instant, Wang Ping felt as if his entire body had been submerged in a hot spring. His qi and blood steamed within him, leaving him incomparably comfortable. The world in his eyes underwent a drastic change as well.

This feeling was incredibly profound. Even though his eyes couldn’t reach the inside of his body, his consciousness clearly ‘saw’ every blood vessel, every muscle, and even his internal organs. He perceived their operations, mapping out the exceedingly complex network within him.

‘Is this... spiritual perception?’

Comprehension dawned in Wang Ping’s heart. This was the consciousness of immortal cultivators who had transcended their physical restraints. Now, having used a secret art to reconstruct himself, he too possessed this miraculous ability!

The next second, Wang Ping shifted his gaze.

His spiritual perception switched from internal vision to observing his surroundings. Looking out, he felt as if he could see the color of the wind, hear the voices of the flora, and smell the scent of emotions.

Clang!

His long saber left its sheath. The suffocatingly hot air in the room, built up from hours of intense battle, was swept away instantly as a howling, frigid wind blasted in all directions.

Yama’s Three Demon Sabers!

Instantly, the overwhelmingly intense saber intent of greed reappeared in his mind, yet it couldn’t shake his spiritual perception in the slightest. Wang Ping suppressed it with effortless ease.

The first saber, initial mastery!

Immediately after, the intent of greed retreated, replaced by unsuppressible anger. The saber intent of wrath surfaced, roasting his soul like a blazing furnace.

Yet it was still useless!

An immortal cultivator’s spiritual perception held a tangible, overwhelming dimensional advantage over martial artists. True gold fears no fire; Wang Ping’s mind remained completely unaffected by the flames of wrath.

The second saber, minor mastery!

Soon, the wrath faded, replaced by ignorant folly, a darkened mind, blind delusion, and the barrier of obsession, which covered his soul like a shadow.

But right at that moment, Wang Ping jerked his head up.

”Break!”

With a shout like a sudden thunderclap, the saber flashed, instantly cleaving through all blind obsession. His boiling qi and blood vaporized his sweat, causing it to billow upward like steam!

The third saber, major mastery!

The next second, all the phenomena subsided, and the steamy vapor dispersed. Wang Ping slowly stepped down from the bed, gripping the long saber in his hand with casual ease.

Zing—!

In a flash, the blade trembled violently. Along with it, the major sinews all over his body bulged and wound tightly together, emitting a clear, ringing sound like the roar of a dragon.

Sinews like a dragon!

At this moment, Wang Ping clearly felt the power overflowing within his limbs and bones. He was like a powder keg, ready to detonate at any time.

‘Has my... saber art reached absolute mastery?’

Wang Ping found it somewhat unbelievable.

The boiling qi and blood, the taut sinews, the surging power—all these sensations stacked together, bringing him a thrill that far surpassed anything else.

‘The difficulty of Yama’s Three Demon Sabers doesn’t lie in its forms, but in its saber intent. It’s normally much harder than ordinary martial arts. However, my spiritual perception worked wonders. The saber intent could no longer shake my mind, and as a result, I mastered it in one go, effortlessly pushing it to absolute mastery!’

This transformation of his life’s very essence made it impossible to extricate himself from the high!

”How strong am I now?”

Wang Ping slowly clenched and unclenched his hand, pondering in his heart. ”The Four Tiers of Dragon Tendon: Viper Dragon, Flood Dragon, Horned Dragon, True Dragon. Which tier am I at right now?”

Could he shatter a rockery with a single slash, just like Shouchong had done before?

He really wanted to find someone to cut down and test it out!

At that thought, Wang Ping suddenly sensed something and looked toward the outside of the room.

”...Hm?”

Just now, his spiritual perception had fed back an overwhelmingly intense emotion filled with anger and frustration, and its spearhead was pointed straight at him.

Who was it?

”Given that I turned the Red Phoenix Tower upside down, it’s normal for people to be angry at me. But for the anger to be this strong, accompanied by such deep resentment... that isn’t right.”

Thinking this, Wang Ping immediately circulated his spiritual perception. Following the trail of emotion, he ‘looked’ all the way into the Red Phoenix Tower’s main hall, ultimately locking onto a single person.

‘Well now, he’s even in disguise?’

Upon scanning him with his spiritual perception, Wang Ping instantly saw the oddity of this person. His skin, flesh, and bones were twisted and shifted; he clearly wasn’t in his original form, but rather wearing a heavy disguise.

However, when his spiritual perception pierced through to see the man’s true face, Wang Ping’s expression froze.

”Xie Shi... Senior Brother Xie?”

Rumble!

That night, the moon was hidden, the winds blew high, and a torrential rain poured down.
