Longevity through Upgrading Buildings

Chapter 716: Chapter 308: All Good Things Must Come to an End

When Ji Yuan took it over, Master Xuan Shui watched him with a complex gaze, then softly said:

”Nephew, the list was personally finalized by the ancestor and me.”

Ji Yuan held the Jade Scroll, seemingly able to guess what the Sect Leader wanted to ask.

”Thank you, Uncle Master and Ancestor, for your hard work.”

”But you’re not on the list.”

When Master Xuan Shui said this, the gaze of Master Geng carried a hint of bitterness, ”When I got the list, I immediately asked Senior Sister Wang You.”

... What did she say?

Ji Yuan didn’t ask, because Master Xuan Shui quickly sighed and then said: ”It seems we have always misunderstood you, nephew, never thought... never thought, after all, it’s us old ones who are regressing with age.”

While speaking, Master Xuan Shui stepped forward to pat Ji Yuan on the shoulder, then turned to sit aside.

”I remember when I first entered the sect, my master told me, he said that cultivators vying in the world, are actually competing for that one breath. Once it dissipates, cultivation pretty much reaches its end. He said at that time, his breath had dispersed and his cultivation reached its end.”

”But I haven’t, he said I was the future of the sect. But now it seems, my breath has also dispersed, this sect must still rely on you young ones.”

Ji Yuan remained silent.

He was merely curious about what Hua Yaoyue had said to Master Xuan Shui, to make him have such sentiments.

Yet, having said this, Master Xuan Shui didn’t speak further, seeming to wait for his response.

Ji Yuan helplessly said: ”The world is about to collapse, sometimes someone must stand up, and there are things someone must do.”

Hearing this made Master Xuan Shui look at him in astonishment, until finally standing up directly.

Only to see him remove a Jade Ring from his left thumb and present it to Ji Yuan with both hands.

”Uncle Master, what is this...”

Seeing this, Ji Yuan also hurriedly stood up.

Master Xuan Shui didn’t answer immediately but instead looked at Ji Yuan seriously for a long time before solemnly stating: ”Fifth generation Sect Leader of Water Dragon Sect, Feng Xiao, calling upon sixth generation disciple Ji Yuan, are you present?”

”Disciple is present.”

The occasion was so formal that Ji Yuan couldn’t help but cupped his hands and saluted Master Xuan Shui.

”Receive your command!”

Master Xuan Shui solemnly declared, then without further ado, he handed the Jade Ring into Ji Yuan’s hands.

”Hmm?”

Ji Yuan picked up the Jade Ring to examine it.

The ring appeared pale green, smooth in texture, feeling extremely comfortable in hand, with a True Dragon carved all over it. Though called a Jade Ring, it seemed more like wearing a True Dragon on the hand.

”This is the Sect Leader’s Mark of Water Dragon Sect. Henceforth, Ji Yuan, you are the sixth generation Sect Leader of our Water Dragon Sect.”

Master Xuan Shui said with a smile while stroking his beard, the whole person seemed much more relaxed, even his formerly hunched posture was straightened.

”This Sect Leader’s Mark is not much use to Golden Core cultivators, merely a symbol of identity. Bearing this mark signifies one is the Sect Leader of Water Dragon Sect.”

”However, for a Foundation Establishment cultivator like you, nephew, it is somewhat useful, because it contains a protective array within. Activated, it can transform into a Water Dragon to guard oneself, capable of protecting a mid-Golden Core cultivator for the time of one incense stick. Afterward, it can slowly recover by absorbing the essence of sun and moon, roughly usable once every three years.”

Originally thinking he had taken a burden, Ji Yuan suddenly became interested upon hearing this.

Nonetheless, while speaking, he still spread his hands.

”Isn’t this... Uncle Master, isn’t this a burden?”

”Don’t worry, I have arranged everything else. You just need to hold the title, nephew. If the situation on Cangluo Continent changes, and you feel the timing is right, then stand up in the name of Water Dragon Sect, proclaim our sect has never withdrawn, that’s all. The rest you don’t have to worry about.”

Master Xuan Shui waved his hand, speaking with a grin.

”Also, our sect’s legacy has moved to the Desolate Ancient Continent. Even if you wish to do something, you will be isolated and without support. Living well is the best plan for you.”

”Then about this Sect Leader’s Mark...”

Ji Yuan picked it up to examine.

”Oh, this.”

Master Xuan Shui spoke while pulling out another Sect Leader’s Mark from his Storage Bag, wearing it on his left thumb, saying: ”However, the fourth Sect Leader accidentally lost this Mark, later he forged several at once, so there’s some spare.”

Ji Yuan: ”...”

”But rest assured, nephew. I will report your appointment as the sixth generation Sect Leader to the ancestor, and give you a separate plaque in the Ancestral Hall. Even if I pass it on, it will be to the seventh generation Sect Leader. Just please don’t pass the title down any further.”

”Alright then.”

Ji Yuan looked at this Sect Leader’s Mark, not much use.

Consider it as gaining another Magical Treasure, a Defensive Treasure able to be reused.

”We will depart in three days. During these days, if there are any questions, you can ask me anytime.”

After Master Xuan Shui finished speaking and nodded slightly, his form transformed into Escape Light, leaving Wuyou Island.

Ji Yuan channeled Spiritual Qi into the Sect Leader’s Mark and with a bit of refining, wore it on the left thumb. Upon his mind’s activation, the mark transformed into a water-blue five-clawed True Dragon firmly protecting him.

This feeling reminded Ji Yuan of the Water Dragon Technique, its second layer ”Sea Dragon Armor” has the exact same effect.
