Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1639: Chapter 1639: Visitors from Beyond the Sky (26)

The foggy ground had a visibility of only a meter, making it impossible for them to see the vehicles ahead; if not for the location tracking, they wouldn’t have realized there was a car up ahead.

Lou Xing was already sitting in the passenger seat, intently watching the surroundings.

This car had been modified to travel on the surface and was equipped with an oxygen system.

If you want to go out, you must wear the specially designed clothing, or you’re dead.

”Do you know the way?” Chuzheng asked Lou Xing.

”Head north.” Lou Xing’s tone was firm: ”Speed up; we should be able to catch up with Boss Jia’s group.”

In such thick fog, even if Boss Jia and his team had a map, it wouldn’t be of much use.

So if their route hasn’t deviated, we should be able to catch up.

Chuzheng: ”What if we don’t catch up?”

Lou Xing was stumped by this question.

If we can’t catch up, there’s nothing we can do. Right now, we can only hope we catch up; otherwise, we’d have to find the ship’s location ourselves.

Lou Xing didn’t answer Chuzheng’s question, instead directing the car to continue adjusting its direction.

Actually, the probability of catching up was relatively high; the tire tracks on the ground were clear, following these tracks should not go wrong.

However, after driving for some time, they found the tire tracks split apart.

Everyone waited for Lou Xing to give the order on which way to go, as he frowned at the boundless white fog ahead.

”There seems to be something up ahead...”

A fuzzy voice came over the intercom, the static noise suddenly intensified, crackling constantly.

”What is that?”

”Can’t see clearly.”

”They’re moving!”

”Don’t go over there!!”

Several voices sounded almost simultaneously.

”Ah——”

A scream spread through the intercom.

”What on earth...”

”Don’t open the car door!!”

”It’s prying open my car door!”

The voices over the intercom made the listener’s scalp tingle.

Through the intercom, one could even hear the sharp, ear-piercing sound of something resembling nails scraping hard over glass.

The other cars were all shrouded in fog, Lou Xing couldn’t see the situation with those cars at all.

Lou Xing clutched the intercom: ”Don’t panic, stay in the car, lock the doors.”

Just as Lou Xing finished saying this, there was a ’bang’ of a car door closing from behind.

He turned his head to look, but there was no sign of Chuzheng.

From the car window, it was vaguely visible that she was standing outside, but the dense fog soon swallowed her up.

Lou Xing’s heart pounded twice, an inexplicable tension surged up from the bottom of his heart.

Lou Xing nearly opened the car door to get out, but was only reminded by the person next to him, snapping him back to his senses.

-

Half an hour later.

Chuzheng reappeared outside the car, she knocked on the car door, and before the driver could open it, Lou Xing beat him to it and opened the door.

Once inside, Chuzheng received a scolding, but after the air in the car had been circulated, the partition in front fell down.

Lou Xing spoke anxiously: ”Are you alright?”

”I’m fine.” In Chuzheng’s brows and eyes, one could vaguely see a touch of flamboyant confidence: ”Just a small problem.”

Lou Xing: ”...”

No matter what species of alien, they are immune to this fog. Isn’t that aggravating?

”This thing...”

Chuzheng raised her hand, and only then did Lou Xing notice that she was holding something.

About the size of a basketball, it looked somewhat like a toad, but its limbs were very uncoordinated, as if pieced together by someone.

It was currently hanging limply from the leg Chuzheng held... dead?

”What... what is this?!”

The driver was so frightened that his voice changed, his eyes full of disgust.

Maybe not scared, just grossed out.

”Alien species.” Chuzheng handed it forward: ”It has decent combat efficiency.”

Driver: ”...”

Take it away!!

Lou Xing was much calmer: ”So it was these things just now?”

”Yes.”

Lou Xing: ”...”

Now there was no more noise, not sure if Chuzheng had dealt with them all.

Boss Jia’s cars had separated here, probably encountering these things, forcing them to part.

Now that Chuzheng went down, she directly took care of them all...

Lou Xing felt a bit complicated, not knowing what to say.

”Can you... throw it out?” Many alien creatures carry viruses themselves.

Chuzheng glanced at Lou Xing and threw the thing out.

-

After some consideration, Lou Xing chose a direction to pursue.

Whether it was his good luck or Boss Jia’s bad luck, it wasn’t long before they encountered Boss Jia and his group.

Boss Jia’s car was stuck in a patch of quicksand, with toxic gases outside, they didn’t dare get out of the car.

The car had already sunk halfway, and the rate of sinking was very fast.

Lou Xing put on a protective suit to go out, standing in a safe place to check.

”Can you get them out?”

”It’s a bit challenging...”

Without considering the fog and oxygen levels, it would be much easier.

Now, with the description of each direction layered together, it’s not so easy to rescue people.

But even with low odds, Lou Xing still ordered preparations to rescue.

Upon seeing someone coming to save them, Boss Jia didn’t care who it was, survival was the priority.

The first to be sent out was Mrs. Jia, who was either overly startled or something, as she was shaking all over.

”The car is sinking faster.”

After Mrs. Jia was sent out, it wasn’t clear if the previous rescue caused the body to sink faster, Boss Jia and another person were struggling to climb onto the roof.

Just as Lou Xing meant to instruct the rescue, Chuzheng suddenly appeared beside him.

Compared to everyone else’s heavy gear, Chuzheng seemed strikingly conspicuous.

Chuzheng spoke ahead of Lou Xing: ”Boss Jia, do you have that map?”

Standing on the car roof, Boss Jia replied in a confused tone: ”What map?”

The heavy equipment made his voice sound muffled.

”You know what I’m talking about.” Chuzheng stopped Lou Xing who wanted to speak: ”Your wife is right here now, and you’re about to be swallowed by quicksand, Boss Jia. Exchanging the map for three lives is a good deal, think it over.”

Boss Jia’s face turned as black as a pot’s bottom.

Did he have a choice in this matter?

She was clearly threatening him!

He had sent Mrs. Jia over first, fearing something unforeseen.

Now it’s fine, the other party used Mrs. Jia to coerce him.

Boss Jia thought it over several times, clenching his teeth: ”How can I be sure that after you get it, my wife’s safety is guaranteed?”

What if they get the goods and just eliminate the witnesses?

”Believe it or not.” Chuzheng didn’t care: ”After all, it’s not me who’s dying.”

”...”

”This map is one of a kind; if it’s gone, you’ll never find that ship again.” Boss Jia: ”I know you have to find that ship too. If you don’t save me now, the dead won’t just be my wife and me, but the people of the Underground City.”

Chuzheng continued unhurriedly: ”Rest assured, when you’re dead, I’ll dig you out.” The map will still be mine, won’t it?

Boss Jia: ”...”

Did she think quicksand was that easy? That it could be dug at will?

*

Master Zheng: It really is, I can dig however I want.
