Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1041: Chapter 1041: Sending the Rest of My Life from Afar (35)

Old Madam Yu took a deep breath: ”It was Yu Jin who killed my son!”

Chuzheng looked at her coldly: ”Oh, then why haven’t you taken revenge on him all these years?”

”...” Old Madam Yu’s eyes clearly flickered with panic: ”Revenge leads to endless cycles of retribution...”

”But that was your son, your only son.”

”...”

Old Madam Yu wanted to say something, but she opened her lips and couldn’t utter a single syllable.

The hand gripping the back of the chair tightened continuously; veins emerged prominently on her hand, her fingertips turning pale green.

-

Old Madam Yu and Chuzheng were at a standoff for a while, and Chuzheng started to feel somewhat impatient.

Though she said she had all the time, she didn’t want to sit there idly.

So she began to issue some ’not so friendly’ threats.

”I’ll talk, I’ll talk...” Old Madam Yu trembled with pain, fear evident in her eyes.

She didn’t want to die...

Chuzheng released her: ”Should’ve started like this sooner.”

Old Madam Yu looked at her in fright, a surge of emotions only she could understand swelling within her.

The death of the Yu Family’s Eldest Young Master had nothing to do with Yu Jin, it was simply Yu Jin’s bad luck to be at the scene.

Back then, to marry Old Master Yu, Old Madam Yu fought off so many other women and was tricked into losing her fertility.

But to establish her position in the Yu Family, she needed children.

Old Madam Yu came up with a plan.

She bribed people around her, faked a pregnancy.

She also bought off a doctor, and during ’delivery,’ a pre-prepared pregnant woman gave birth to a child.

”Old Master Yu believed it?”

”Ha.” Old Madam Yu sneered: ”He was busy dealing with his affairs outside, how could he care about me.”

After the child was born, Old Master Yu did not suspect a thing.

For appearances’ sake, Old Madam Yu even chose a mother who looked similar to herself, so as the child grew, although he didn’t resemble his father much, he did look like her.

And this child turned out to be outstanding, smart, and favored by Old Master Yu, thus elevating Old Madam Yu’s status as well.

However...

Old Master Yu somehow heard rumors that the child wasn’t his biological son.

Old Madam Yu knew Old Master Yu’s temperament well; if he found out the child wasn’t his blood, not only the child, but she herself wouldn’t have a good end.

Initially, she did nothing, harboring a sliver of hope that since Old Master Yu liked the child, he might dismiss his doubts soon.

But Old Master Yu did not relent and even started an investigation.

Old Madam Yu panicked.

The child wasn’t her biological son; though she had some fondness after raising him for years, she cared more about herself.

So she orchestrated that ’accident.’

She arranged for someone to pass a message to Zhou Hai, who then plied the Yu Family’s Eldest Young Master with booze.

She called him, saying she had something to discuss, and had him come that way.

She poured water on the ground and electrified the area, so when the Yu Family’s Eldest Young Master passed by, he’d be jolted and stumble into the artificial lake.

The railings on both sides were loose, and no matter which way he went, he would fall.

After the Yu Family’s Eldest Young Master died, Old Master Yu stopped the investigation, and she remained the mistress of the Yu Family.

Because she was ruthless.

Old Master Yu let her off the hook.

In this situation, Yu Jin was truly unlucky, wrongly present at the scene and fingered by others.

Chuzheng’s tone turned slightly cold: ”So he became the scapegoat?”

Old Madam Yu’s lips curled into a sinister arc: ”Do you really think I was the only one behind this?”

”What do you mean?”

”That old bastard knew everything, he knew Yu Jin wasn’t the culprit, but he still made Yu Jin take the fall because this matter couldn’t escalate, nor could it lead back to me. No one could find out that the Yu Family’s Eldest Young Master was a bastard and that I, the mistress of the Yu Family, had killed my son.”

The year the Yu Family’s Eldest Young Master was fished out, it was directly ruled as drunken drowning.

If Old Master Yu truly cared for that son, a post-mortem would have uncovered much more.

But he did not.

He tacitly accepted that Yu Family’s Eldest Young Master died from drunken drowning.

Old Madam Yu sighed: ”He cared about his reputation; how could he face anyone if this got out?”

”Otherwise, do you think I had so much power, to handle Zhou Hai?”

Zhou Hai’s rise was so fast that even with my capabilities, I couldn’t have influenced it that deeply.

”What about Yu Jin’s mother?”

”I don’t know. By the time I heard the news, she was already dead.” Old Madam Yu glanced at Chuzheng: ”But I heard the last person she saw before she died was that old bastard.”

-

Hua Can walked out with Chuzheng, looking heavy-hearted.

Old Madam Yu sat at the main seat, her face pale as a ghost, like she had lost her soul.

”Miss Song, isn’t the inside of these wealthy families just too filthy?” Hua Can couldn’t help but comment.

”The Yu Family’s Eldest Young Master wasn’t her biological son.” To kill a son that wasn’t hers to save her own life and status, was worth it to Old Madam Yu.

After struggling against so many women to climb to the position of the Yu Family mistress, how could she let that all go to waste?

Even though Old Master Yu no longer trusted her later on, she still held her position as the mistress of the Yu Family firmly.

Hua Can muttered: ”Even if not biological, after raising him for so long? You’d have feelings even for a dog...”

Chuzheng said nothing.

In such a prominent family, how much affection could there be?

Old Master Yu treated all his sons as tools, ready to discard them when necessary.

Power was above all else.

Chuzheng and Hua Can walked out of the Yu Residence, only to find several cars parked outside.

Yu Jin and Yu Wei were both there.

Yu Jin leaned lazily against the car door, looking completely relaxed: ”Second Brother, did you find Old Master?”

Yu Wei stood on the steps, back towards Chuzheng, his expression hidden.

”What are you talking about, Fifth Brother? I’m just here to see the Old Madam.”

Yu Jin chuckled, his gaze shifting to Chuzheng, and he immediately stood up straight: ”Baby.”

Chuzheng led Hua Can out of the Yu Residence’s gates: ”Why are you here?”

”Came to pick you up.”

”Let’s go home.”

Yu Jin asked nothing, opening the car door for Chuzheng.

Once in, Yu Jin looked at Yu Wei: ”Second Brother, keep searching, maybe Old Master is right here.”

Yu Wei was indeed here to find Old Master.

Since Yu Jin took charge, no one had seen Old Master anymore.

He had searched every place he could think of.

The old estate had always housed the Old Madam, with servants attending, but no one had seen Old Master.

Unable to let it rest, he personally came over, but still found nothing.

”Ah—”

A sudden scream came from within the Yu Residence.

Yu Wei was startled and quickly ran back inside.

Inside the room, Old Madam Yu had changed into her splendid and luxurious clothing, adorned with jewels.

She sat at the main seat, her wrist placed on the table, blood trickling down the table and slowly flowing downward.

The sight of the red blood made Yu Wei’s heart race: ”Old Madam? Quick, call an ambulance!”
