Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 969: Chapter 969: A Day as a Teacher (38)

As the New Year approached, every household was filled with joy.

But at that time, it wasn’t the case for the original host’s aunt’s family.

The daughter-in-law and son were quarreling fiercely, just because they promised to buy a house in the beginning, and now there’s no sign of it.

”Enough, you two!” Aunt Huang Min, the backbone of this family, slammed the table and stood up, causing both the daughter-in-law and son to stop: ”Fighting, fighting, do you still want to celebrate the New Year?”

Recently, Huang Min was not in a good state either, often encountering inexplicable incidents, as if she’d run into something supernatural.

Burning incense and praying to Buddha didn’t help, strange things kept happening around her occasionally.

”Celebrate what?” the daughter-in-law shouted angrily, ”Celebrate what? With your family, I’m not serving you anymore!”

The daughter-in-law picked up her bag and left.

The son wanted to chase after her but was stopped by Huang Min.

Huang Min’s anger flared up: ”Let her go, just let her go!”

”Mom!” The son’s face was grim as he began to complain about her: ”You promised to pay the down payment for me, and what happened?”

If it wasn’t for his mom’s broken promise, things wouldn’t have turned out this way.

Huang Min dared to say so because she took Chuzheng as a cash cow.

But now, Huang Min couldn’t get close to Chuzheng at all; whenever she got near, someone would come out to stop her.

No matter how fierce Huang Min was, she didn’t dare to act recklessly against the people in society.

She asked someone to teach that brat a lesson, but ended up with no news afterward.

Now, even her son was giving her a hard time.

”What, are you going to go against your mom for that woman?” Huang Min got angrier the more she thought about it.

”Mom. I didn’t mean it like that.”

”Then what do you mean? If I had money, wouldn’t I buy it for you?”

During the wedding, most of the family’s money was almost used up.

Lately, because of those inexplicable incidents, she used some as well, leaving her with even less money.

No money left for a down payment to buy a house.

”Ask Ruan Chuzheng!” the son blurted out.

Huang Min’s years of exploiting her niece had made her son habitual in seeking her out when in need of money.

”...”

Huang Min’s face turned uglier.

If she could find her, wouldn’t she?

Calculating for a moment, Huang Min decided to find Chuzheng. This time she dressed up and even put on a set of clothes she hadn’t worn before.

Thinking this time she was foolproof and wouldn’t be recognized.

Yet even before getting close to where Chuzheng lived, someone stopped her.

Huang Min ran out of options; she even thought about exposing her to the media, but after contacting them, nothing came of it.

Huang Min simply couldn’t understand how her niece suddenly gained such power.

That day, Huang Min went home late, the light in the hallway was out and wouldn’t turn on.

Thinking of the strange things she’d been encountering lately, Huang Min’s heart pounded as she quickly walked towards her home.

”Ah——”

A ghostly shadow flashed by in front of her.

Huang Min was so frightened she fell down on the ground.

Scared witless, Huang Min ended up hospitalized.

This time, it was over, as her son and daughter-in-law completely broke up and got divorced.

The son felt that his wife wanted to divorce him because of Huang Min and instead of understanding her illness, he kept causing trouble in front of her.

Huang Min almost fainted from anger several times.

Later on, Huang Min’s son got into gambling and ran away with a huge debt.

At her age, Huang Min was still coerced into repaying debts, and having already been frightened before, with these debt collectors haunting her daily, she ultimately died of a heart attack.

Chuzheng received a call from her uncle, informing her of Huang Min’s death.

This uncle had never been strong-willed in his entire life, and no matter how much Huang Min bullied the original host, he never spoke up for her.

Chuzheng didn’t attend the funeral, and just called back the people who used to be near Huang Min.

Without the original host, this family couldn’t survive at all.

-

The second half of senior year began.

Meng Yu went abroad, leaving a letter for Qiao Lian.

Chuzheng got the letter first; she always felt Meng Yu had ill intentions, wanting to open it to see what’s inside but in the end didn’t and gave it to Qiao Lian.

”From Meng Yu?”

”Could be a love letter,” Chuzheng said icily.

Qiao Lian’s mouth twitched: ”Teacher, are you jealous?”

”Why would I be jealous?”

”Because the teacher likes me.” Qiao Lian winked at Chuzheng, with a bit of playfulness.

The result was Chuzheng cornering him and kissing him for a long while in the stairwell, and if it hadn’t been for the approaching footsteps, Qiao Lian wasn’t sure if he could have escaped.

”I’ll... head back to the classroom now.” Qiao Lian took the letter and dashed back to the classroom with his head down.

The letter was just a farewell and apology.

Of course, Chuzheng didn’t see the contents.

It was Qiao Lian who told her.

Chuzheng was a bit skeptical, but she didn’t delve into it since Qiao Lian was hers and she feared nothing.

The semester of senior year became tense with exam preparations.

Qiao Lian’s additional classes were exhausting him.

Doing practice exams made him feel like vomiting blood.

Fortunately, Qiao Lian wasn’t dumb; he simply hadn’t taken his studies seriously before, and now under Chuzheng’s tutoring, his grades improved significantly.

”Teacher, you’re amazing, you know everything.”

All of Qiao Lian’s subjects were tutored by Chuzheng.

”Hmm.” Chuzheng nodded in agreement, I’m just that fabulous: ”Keep writing, don’t skip a single problem.”

Don’t think flattering me will get you out of writing a problem or two.

Not gonna happen!

Qiao Lian: ”...”

Qiao Lian resignedly continued working on his problems.

Halfway through, he suddenly put down his pen and extended his hand to Chuzheng: ”Teacher, it hurts.”

Chuzheng pinched his wrist and skillfully massaged it: ”Go for a recheck in a few days.”

Qiao Lian snuggled into Chuzheng’s embrace, and she let him lean in, even freeing a hand to hold him.

”Teacher, if I get into a university, what will you do?”

”Nothing.” Chuzheng gently rubbed his wrist.

”Will you... still stay at this school?” Qiao Lian looked at her: ”Then would it be a hassle for me to see you after that? I don’t want to part with you.”

Qiao Lian wrapped his arms around her neck, resting his face on her shoulder.

”It’s not like you won’t be able to see me,” Chuzheng said.

”But I won’t be able to see you like now, every day.” Qiao Lian’s voice was muffled; he just wanted to keep seeing her continuously.

”That’s better, you won’t have to worry about anyone finding out about our relationship.”

Qiao Lian: ”...”

He felt like something was off about what his teacher had said.

”Then maybe I won’t go to university.” Qiao Lian tilted his head back to look at Chuzheng.

”I have no problem supporting you,” Chuzheng said with ease.

”...” Qiao Lian’s expression turned odd, and after a moment, he slowly said: ”Maybe... I should go back and fight for some family inheritance?”

Qiao Lian heard Qiao Hong’s condition had inexplicably worsened.

Every day, watching the chaos among the Qiao Family members, having no regard for him, Qiao Hong was furious and helpless.

Of course, Qiao Lian wouldn’t go back; after all, the lawyer had already drafted an agreement.

Better continue with the practice problems.

Qiao Lian resignedly continued writing.

Chuzheng didn’t let go of him, holding him closely while watching him do his work.

Qiao Lian got used to being held by Chuzheng like that, although sometimes it was a bit distracting and he’d write wrong answers.
