Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 806: Chapter 806: The Childhood Sweetheart Gets Married (32)

The night was as cool as water.

In the old, dark alley where not a trace of light shone, a shadow moved slowly, a beam of light following its movements.

Mu Shen walked to the position he remembered from before and from there, started searching around.

Perhaps he shouldn’t have come...

He didn’t know what he was trying to prove.

And what if he did prove something?

Would he stop liking her?

He wouldn’t.

He liked her.

After a full circle, Mu Shen found nothing.

Maybe he was wrong.

Sometimes news can be considered censored, can’t it?

Mu Shen comforted himself with this thought, turned off his flashlight, and sat down on the steps.

The night breeze was gentle, and some plastic on the ground rustled in the wind.

”Chuzheng...”

Mu Shen took out his phone.

00:24

[Mu Shen: I miss you so much.]

Mu Shen stared at the chat interface, and a minute later, he withdrew the message.

-

01:45

Mu Shen walked through the alley, with his home just ahead.

There was a street lamp nearby, its light dim, and Mu Shen saw a figure half-hidden in the darkness.

Mu Shen’s breath hitched.

It seemed that upon seeing him, the person moved slightly.

Their body slowly emerged into the light.

Mu Shen strode forward: ”Chuzheng, why are you here?”

”Didn’t you send me a WeChat message?” Chuzheng sounded tired, her voice low.

But he had withdrawn that message.

Mu Shen had never dreamt that the message he withdrew would be seen, and that she would come looking for him.

Chuzheng eyed him suspiciously: ”What were you doing out so late?”

She had left the comfort of her bed in the middle of the night to find him, only to discover he wasn’t there.

”...I couldn’t sleep, so I went for a walk.” Mu Shen lied: ”I’m sorry, have you been waiting long? I didn’t know you saw that message and had come over...”

”Don’t wander around in the middle of the night.” If something goes wrong, I’ll have to save you, Chuzheng brushed off the dust she got from leaning against the wall: ”Now that I’ve seen you, I’m going back.”

”Chuzheng.” Mu Shen grabbed her wrist: ”I...”

”Hmm?”

Mu Shen hung his head, murmuring: ”Don’t go. It’s very late.”

”What about your grandma...?”

”She’s asleep.” Mu Shen said: ”Be careful when you come in, leave early in the morning, and you won’t get caught.”

She invited me with a Good Person Card.

I didn’t bring it up first!

Chuzheng had never been inside Mu Shen’s Home; the space wasn’t big, just two bedrooms. Mu Shen carefully pushed the door open and after Chuzheng entered, closed it and let out a sigh of relief.

Mu Shen’s room was very clean, everything arranged neatly.

Once inside the room, Mu Shen seemed restrained.

And somewhat nervous.

This room of his...

Mu Shen sneaked a glance at Chuzheng and saw that she was just calmly looking around the room, without showing any disdain or other emotion, and he breathed a little easier.

”This...”

Chuzheng suddenly pointed at a small toy on the bookshelf.

Mu Shen picked it up: ”You gave this to me, remember?”

Chuzheng’s brows furrowed slightly: ”Mu Shen.”

”This was my first toy...”

”Mu Shen.”

Mu Shen looked up.

Chuzheng’s face was as cold as frost.

”I don’t care what kind of childhood you had with her, but you need to remember one thing, starting today, the person you like is named Chuzheng, and that’s me.”

Chuzheng placed the toy back in its original position.

Chuzheng wasn’t jealous of the previous Yao Chuzheng, she didn’t even care.

Because this body of hers had a past just like the Good Person Card’s body had a past.

They had both spent a difficult childhood together.

It was normal and unavoidable to have feelings for that past.

But Mu Shen could only have her now.

Chuzheng pushed Mu Shen onto the desk, ”I don’t care what you felt about that person from the past, I just hope you remember that you’re mine, you need to try to fall for the present me and keep liking me, understand?”

”I... I like you.” Mu Shen didn’t understand why Chuzheng was suddenly so fierce; he stuttered in explanation, ”The current you... I don’t know what to say, but I didn’t like you when we were kids, and after you left, I rarely even thought of you.”

Mu Shen was very clear in his heart.

It wasn’t because of those childhood memories that he liked her.

The doll was something he had found not long ago while sorting through Grandma Mu’s things; he had just suddenly remembered it.

He thought that Chuzheng would remember liking it...

But it turned out she didn’t.

The person in Mu Shen’s eyes suddenly enlarged, and his lips were sealed.

Mu Shen was pressed onto the table, items on the table fell to the floor, crashing down and making a huge noise in the quiet night.

The sound made Mu Shen’s heart tremble along with it.

”Shenshen, what are you doing?”

Grandma Mu’s voice came from outside the door.

A rush of excitement and nervous worry surged up.

Mu Shen pushed Chuzheng, his expression anxious, fearing Grandma Mu would push the door open; his room door couldn’t be locked.

Chuzheng loosened her grip slightly.

Mu Shen quickly shouted towards the outside, ”Grandma, I’m fine, I bumped into something while getting up at night.”

”Be careful.”

Grandma Mu’s footsteps faded away.

Mu Shen sighed with relief, but the next second his mouth was covered by Chuzheng again.

Mu Shen dared not move, afraid that the items on the table would fall again and draw Grandma Mu back here.

-

Five minutes later.

The two separated; Chuzheng sat on the bed, and Mu Shen picked up the things from the floor to put away.

”You sleep on the bed,” Mu Shen said, not daring to look at Chuzheng as he hurriedly made the bed, ”I’ll sleep on the floor.”

Chuzheng: ”...”

I thought you were going to sleep with me.

No soft, fluffy hair to pet.

Unhappy.

Chuzheng watched emotionlessly as Mu Shen cleaned up the floor.

”Good night, Chuchu.”

”Good night.”

Chuzheng lay down on the bed.

Mu Shen turned off the light and slept on the floor.

His body was filled with her scent.

Mu Shen simply couldn’t fall asleep.

Chuzheng lay on her side, picking at the bedsheet with her fingertips.

”Mu Shen.”

”...Yeah.”

”Come up here.”

Mu Shen was shocked, ”Chu... Chuchu, we are still young.”

”What are you thinking?” Chuzheng said, ”I just want to hold you.” To stroke your hair! I can’t sleep without petting it.

”Just to hold me?”

”Yeah, I won’t do anything to you, come up.” Am I that kind of person?!

”...” Hesitant, Mu Shen slowly clambered up.

Mu Shen’s bed wasn’t very big, and it felt a bit crowded with both of them lying on it.

Chuzheng turned to her side and pulled Mu Shen into her arms, her palm instantly landing on his soft hair.

Mu Shen: ”...”

Did she actually like his hair, or did she like him?

”Chuchu.”

”Hmm.”

”I want to tell Grandma.”

”What?”

”About us dating,” Mu Shen said in a low voice.

Grandma Mu had recovered well from the surgery, but... her Alzheimer’s was getting worse, and Mu Shen didn’t know when she would forget even him.

”Wouldn’t your grandma object?”

”No, Grandma Mu is very nice... If you don’t agree, I won’t say anything.”

Chuzheng fell silent, ”It’s up to you.”

Mu Shen looked up, ”Then I... will find a chance to talk to Grandma, she will like you.”

Chuzheng kissed him, ”Sleep now.”
