Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 81: Ten Thousand Per Session, Interested?

Time passed quickly.

In the blink of an eye, it was evening, and I had to end my flight practice.

After all, the training area had limited open hours, so I could only come back tomorrow if I wanted to practice more.

Senior Tu Qingxue had told me I could come practice whenever there was time, as long as the place was open, and she was usually here.

I nodded in acknowledgment, but I also knew I needed to discuss this with the seniors at the bakery club.

I couldn’t just skip my part-time job after only a few days to focus on getting my license, could I?

Not showing up without prior notice would be too irresponsible.

Besides, both sides had flexible schedules, so it was better to plan my time carefully.

This afternoon, I had been practicing fixed-point hovering the entire time.

It wasn’t even low-altitude flight practice but a prerequisite for flying.

I had to admit, spending the whole afternoon practicing was mentally exhausting, and it consumed a fair amount of magic power too.

Although the Magic Power Source could replenish magic continuously, the consumption of alchemical products wasn’t as negligible as something like the Cleaning Spell.

Half a day of practice already felt like a lot, but it worked out perfectly: practice for half a day, work at the bakery for half a day.

Ideal!

It also gave me a convenient excuse to avoid practicing all day.

After thinking this through, I returned to my villa and stayed there until the next day when I went to the bakery.

“Senior Tang Yihan Senior Ying Shiqian You’re at the shop this early?”

I greeted them warmly.

Though there were some customers in the morning, Senior Ying Shiqian could probably handle them alone.

Could it be that Senior Tang Yihan wasn’t working on her new dark cuisine today?

“Hm, Little Han, you’re here early too. Where did you go to have fun yesterday with all that free time?”

Tang Yihan asked while busy packing a cake into a box.

“Yesterday… hehe, I wouldn’t say I was having fun. Did I mention I was planning to get a Flying License? I went to try it out yesterday,” I explained, following her lead.

I had been wondering how to bring up the fact that I couldn’t work full-time for a while.

“You actually went for it?”

Ying Shiqian joined the conversation, coming closer.

“I heard Tang Yihan mention it, but I thought you were just saying it casually.”

“Hm, the tuition for the Flying License isn’t cheap. Do you need our help?”

Tang Yihan quickly thought of something and asked.

“No need for now. Big Sister Bai helped me take care of everything. Thanks for your concern, Senior.”

“Then you’ve got a pretty great sister. She even came to us before, asking us to look out for you.”

“Yeah, Big Sister Bai is the best person to me. I’m going to change now and help out soon”

I said simply before heading to the back to clock in and change into my uniform in one smooth motion.

Today was another busy day.

“Oh, by the way, Senior, didn’t I just mention I’m going for the license? So, in the afternoons, I might…”

I leaned toward Senior Tang Yihan and brought up the matter quietly.

“I get it. Go do what you need to. This job was never mandatory,” Tang Yihan replied without any issue, quickly agreeing to my request.

“Awesome! I’ll get the license as soon as possible and come back to help!”

Hearing her official response, I finally felt at ease.

I promised to hurry, though honestly, whether I was at the bakery or not didn’t seem to make much difference.

Still, I had received a lot of kindness here, and that was something worth remembering.

After a busy period, the number of customers dwindled, with only occasional online orders coming in.

At this point, I was pretty bored.

The book I borrowed from the library had been passed on to Tan Han, so I couldn’t even read.

I just focused on cleaning up the front.

Even if there weren’t many customers, appearances still mattered, right?

While I was cleaning, someone unexpected walked into the bakery.

“Tan Han? I didn’t expect you to come here,” I said, slightly surprised.

“Why not? I’m also a member of the Bakery Club. Is it strange for me to show up?”

Tan Han’s usual cool demeanor softened with a rare hint of warmth.

“Are you always here?”

“Yeah, I’m a member of the Bakery Club, but before that, I was already a part-time worker here, the paid kind,” I nodded, explaining to Tan Han.

“Paid… Are you short on money?”

“Short? Very short.”

I nodded again.

Looking at Tan Han, she didn’t seem like someone who lacked money.

She might even be some kind of rich young lady.

“Then I have a high-paying part-time job for you. Want to hear about it?”

“Huh?”

I snapped my head up, interrupting the Cleaning Spell I was casting.

Did I just hear the words high-paying part-time job?

“What? Want to hear the details?”

Tan Han continued under my surprised gaze.

“I want to hire you as my meditation teacher.”

“Huh? But… you and I are both freshmen. Wouldn’t it be better to hire a senior or even a teacher with that kind of money?”

After a moment of hesitation, I decided not to take advantage of this.

Truthfully, I didn’t even know how to teach.

My method probably couldn’t be replicated, could it?

Better to find an excuse to turn it down, even if it meant missing out on some money…

“Meditation is a very… mysterious state. It’s almost like an instinct. Seniors who’ve been through it can’t necessarily explain the process of going from nothing to something to someone who’s never meditated. You’re the only person I’ve met who recently succeeded at Meditation. Your thoughts and experiences could be a huge inspiration to me.”

Tan Han spoke at length, as if trying to persuade me, almost making me believe I was some kind of prodigy.

“But… this…”

“It’s fine. Even if what you say doesn’t help me at all, I’ll still pay you. How about that?”

“This…”

Hearing this, I couldn’t deny I was tempted.

This was practically free money.

She might be even richer than Store Manager Xia Li.

“I don’t have much concept of money. How about ten thousand for one session?”

“Ten thousand?”

My eyes widened.

That was more than I could earn working full days for who-knows-how-long.

“What? Too little?”

Tan Han noticed my expression, and her tone carried a hint of uncertainty.

“Indeed, considering this is your insight, and you succeeded at Meditation on your first try, such insight is worth more than ten thousand…”

“No! No! Ten thousand is enough! Absolutely enough!”

I quickly interrupted her.

Judging by her tone, she was about to raise the price, and I wouldn’t feel right taking more!

“So, you’re agreeing?”

Tan Han looked satisfied with my reaction, a slight smile tugging at her lips, as if she had me figured out.

Such a naive girl was rarely feeling uneasy about just ten thousand?

Tan Han suppressed her barely noticeable smile and spoke with a look of delight.

“Then don’t go back on your word.”

“I… this… well… fine…”

After Tan Han said that, I couldn’t bring myself to refuse anymore.

Ugh why did I have to be tempted by that ten thousand?
