Invincible Soul Emperor

Captain Wang took the lead, rushing before Wang Teng and kneeling on the ground. He said respectfully, ”This one is Wang San, captain of the Wang Family’s guards in Zhongtian Town. Greetings, Young Master Wang!”

Wang Teng waved his hand and replied, ”This place is quite tranquil. You’ve gone to great trouble, Captain Wang.”

Wang San stood up and said with a fawning smile, ”Thank you for the compliment, Young Master Wang. When I heard you were arriving in Zhongtian Town today, I took the liberty of booking the entire Ruiyun Residence, as I was told you prefer peace and quiet.”

Wang Teng nodded and strolled around the grand hall of Ruiyun Residence, assessing his surroundings. ”There’s no need for such extravagance,” he said. ”If others find out, I’m afraid it will generate idle gossip about my uncle’s reputation, which wouldn’t be good.”

At this, the owner of Ruiyun Residence quickly interjected, ”Rest assured, Young Master Wang. Everyone in Zhongtian Town knows Headmaster Wang is exceptionally approachable and always looks out for us merchants. When they learn Young Master Wang is staying here, the other inns will be green with envy.”

Wang Teng offered a slight smile. He had heard his share of flattery, but this owner’s compliment was refreshingly refined, and he found it quite pleasing.

After inspecting the premises, Wang Teng nodded and said, ”Not bad. This place is indeed very nice. I’ll stay here. Captain Wang, are you sure the area has been cleared? I don’t like to be disturbed.”

A troubled expression appeared on Wang San’s face as he spoke. ”To be honest, Young Master, the area is almost entirely cleared, but there is one person who refuses to leave. I also perceived that he has an extraordinary air about him, so I didn’t use force. However, I have already warned the lad not to wander around. What are your instructions, Young Master…?”

Wang Teng frowned and replied, ”Go and confront him again. I’ll observe for a bit before making a decision.”

Wang San nodded. With a direct order from Wang Teng, he no longer needed to worry about the consequences. With that thought, he went back upstairs and knocked on Ye Qingchen’s door.

Meanwhile, Wang Teng and his entourage of more than a dozen guards sat down in the hall to await the outcome.

Having fallen back asleep, Ye Qingchen was continuing his sweet dream of reuniting with Qin Yue and Xiao Xiao. He was delighting in the moment when he was once again rudely awakened. His patience had reached its absolute limit. Despite noticing Wang San’s markedly different demeanor this time, he still didn’t give him a pleasant look. ”You have repeatedly disturbed my peace,” he said coldly. ”Do you truly believe I have no temper?”

Wang San was startled. He hadn’t expected Ye Qingchen to be the one to flare up first, and for a moment, he was tempted to back down.

But remembering that Wang Teng and over a dozen high-level Martial King Realm experts were just downstairs, he mustered his courage and said, ”Lad, I don’t care who you are. I’ve already booked this entire Ruiyun Residence. I won’t make things difficult. Leave now, and I’ll pretend this never happened!”

Hearing that this fellow was still stubbornly trying to drive him away, Ye Qingchen grew even angrier. It seems they really take me for an easy target if I don’t show my strength! In that case, don’t blame me for making an example out of you!

With that thought, Ye Qingchen hesitated no longer. Using his hand as a sword, he unleashed the Wind Blade Sword Technique, striking out at Wang San.

Wang San never expected Ye Qingchen to actually attack first, so he was completely unprepared. But even if he had been prepared, the result would have been no different.

The Wind Blade Sword Technique struck Wang San with immense force. His body was sent flying backward, and he crashed heavily onto the first-floor hall. He struggled to get up, but the movement aggravated his injuries, causing him to spit out a large mouthful of blood.

Wang Teng frowned upon seeing the severely injured Wang San. He hadn’t expected the person upstairs to show him so little respect by daring to attack his subordinate.

But with his sharp eyes, Wang Teng could also tell that the technique Ye Qingchen had used to defeat Wang San was anything but simple.

A Wind Attribute? An Earth Rank Martial Technique! Wang Teng muttered to himself, searching his mind for any hidden family that specialized in such an attribute. Just then, Ye Qingchen stepped out of his room.

Since the other party insisted on causing trouble, Ye Qingchen was no longer prepared to passively endure it in his room. He decided to meet this so-called Young Master Wang in person.

Ye Qingchen and Wang Teng’s eyes met, and a look of surprise flashed across both their faces.

A second-level Martial King? To defeat a fifth-level Martial King like Wang San in a single strike, and it was obvious he wasn’t even using his full power. With such combat prowess, coupled with that mysterious Wind Attribute, this person must have an extraordinary background. Wang Teng thought, already formulating a strategy.

Ye Qingchen’s surprise, on the other hand, stemmed from the dozen or so high-level Martial King Realm experts standing behind Wang Teng.

Martial King Realm experts are famously proud. In the Northern Region, a Martial King is at the very least the master of a city. Yet here they are, willingly following this young man. His identity must be truly extraordinary.

However, this was not enough to frighten Ye Qingchen.

Even if he was no match for them, he was confident that if he went all out, he could inflict heavy damage before escaping with his Mystifying Steps.

But just as Ye Qingchen was about to speak, Wang Teng spoke first, chastising Wang San.

”You imbecile! I told you to invite this gentleman for a chat. How did you manage to anger him? Apologize at once!”

Wang San had just wiped the blood from his lips. Upon hearing Wang Teng’s words, he was so enraged that he coughed up another mouthful of blood.

You’re the one who told me to go deal with him! Now I’m beaten like this, and not only do I get no credit, I also have to apologize to him? I can’t believe I’m being made the scapegoat for this…

Of course, Wang San only dared to grumble these thoughts to himself. He would never disobey an order from Wang Teng. He struggled to his feet, cupped his fists at Ye Qingchen, and said, ”I was presumptuous just now. Please forgive my transgression, Young Master.”

Ye Qingchen was also slightly taken aback. But, as the saying goes, you don’t hit a smiling face. With the other party being so polite, his anger subsided by half. He waved his hand and said, ”There’s no need. Just don’t bother me again.”

After speaking, Ye Qingchen turned to re-enter his room but was stopped by Wang Teng.

Ye Qingchen paused, looking at Wang Teng with a puzzled expression. He saw Wang Teng cup his fists toward him from across the hall and say in a refined manner, ”I am Wang Teng. Might I have the honor of knowing your name, sir? Our meeting is fate. Perhaps you would join me for a drink and we could become friends?”

Ye Qingchen frowned but answered nonetheless, ”My name is Ye Qingchen. As for the drink, perhaps another time. Once we are at the Central Celestial Academy, there will be plenty of opportunities.”

With that, Ye Qingchen entered his room without a backward glance.

Although Wang Teng acted politely, Ye Qingchen had a natural aversion to wealthy young masters who would casually book out entire establishments. Besides, making new friends was the furthest thing from his mind right now.

”No matter. We shall meet another day, then,” Wang Teng said, still smiling as he watched Ye Qingchen enter the room.

The instant Ye Qingchen’s door closed, the smile vanished from Wang Teng’s face, replaced by a cold expression. He ordered his subordinates in a frosty voice, ”Find out everything you can about this Ye Qingchen!”
