Chapter 150: Chapter 150: The Giant Ape Leader

”Ye Qingchen!”

”Junior Brother Qingchen!”

Hong Yan and Zhao Jiehui were overjoyed to see Ye Qingchen arrive. Reinforcements had finally come! Moreover, Ye Qingchen’s combat prowess was far beyond anything they could have imagined. The powerful giant apes that had surrounded them were like paper tigers before him, unable to withstand a single blow.

What left Zhao Jiehui utterly dumbstruck was that Ye Qingchen, with just himself and his sword, fought the giant apes rushing from behind with complete ease. Every time he swung his sword, he claimed the life of another giant ape.

”That sword technique... it’s incredible!” Zhao Jiehui exclaimed with genuine admiration, watching Ye Qingchen slaughter the giant apes.

With his discerning eye, Zhao Jiehui could tell that the sword technique Ye Qingchen was using was an extremely formidable Martial Technique, though he couldn’t be certain of its grade. While the swordplay was dazzling, what astonished him most was Ye Qingchen’s strength. From the fluctuations of Ye Qingchen’s Spiritual Energy, Zhao Jiehui could clearly sense that he had actually reached the Seventh Layer of the Martial Master Realm.

To think that not long ago, Ye Qingchen had only been at the Second Layer of the Martial Master Realm. Now, in such a short time, he had surpassed him and become far more powerful in combat.

This junior brother of mine is even more incredible than I imagined!

That was the only thought in Zhao Jiehui’s mind.

After her narrow escape from death, Hong Yan watched Ye Qingchen cut a swath through their enemies, her eyes shining with the adoration of a star-struck fan. ”Junior Brother Qingchen,” she gushed, ”you’re just so dashing!”

Hong Yan’s words left Zhao Jiehui speechless, though deep down, he agreed. Ye Qingchen, alone with his sword, could take a giant ape’s life with every strike. Combined with his exceptionally handsome features, he looked like a Sword Immortal who had descended to the mortal world.

In just a few moments, the giant apes that had driven Zhao Jiehui and Hong Yan to despair were utterly slaughtered by Ye Qingchen alone.

Ye Qingchen sheathed his Qingfeng Sword. He was now at the Seventh Layer of the Martial Master Realm. Paired with the enhancement from his superior-grade spiritual weapon, the Qingfeng Sword, he could effortlessly use the high-grade Xuan-rank technique, Sword Dusting the Wind. Against these giant apes, whose strength was only between the Third and Fifth Layer of the Martial Master Realm, victory was a foregone conclusion.

He walked over to Zhao Jiehui and Hong Yan, took two Spirit Pills from his storage ring, and handed them over. Both knew of Ye Qingchen’s skill in Alchemy, so they swallowed the Spirit Pills without hesitation. In just a short time, their injuries were mostly healed.

”Junior Brother Qingchen, there’s an old saying about seeing someone in a new light after just three days apart. Your rate of progress truly puts me to shame!” Zhao Jiehui said with a sigh, patting Ye Qingchen on the shoulder.

Ye Qingchen smiled faintly. Even though his own strength was now far greater than Zhao Jiehui’s, in his heart, Zhao Jiehui would always be the senior brother who stood in front to protect him.

Hong Yan’s injuries had been lighter, and she had mostly recovered. The battle had left her clothes tattered, revealing tantalizing glimpses of her skin. Ye Qingchen took a robe from his storage ring and draped it over her, covering her alluring body that could make a man’s blood boil.

Seeing how thoughtful he was, Hong Yan couldn’t help but giggle. ”Junior Brother Qingchen, you’re not only handsome and incredibly talented, but you’re also so considerate. Your big sister can hardly keep from falling in love with you!”

She spoke so close to him that the enticing fragrance from her body made him blush. Although Ye Qingchen was no longer a stranger to women, he was still a seventeen-year-old youth. Faced with the temptations of a great beauty like Hong Yan, he couldn’t help but feel shy.

Seeing him blush, Hong Yan laughed even more merrily and continued to tease him, ”Oh my, Little Brother Qingchen is blushing! Let your big sister take a look... Oh, you really are!”

Unable to bear her teasing any longer, Ye Qingchen turned away and spoke to Zhao Jiehui. ”Senior Brother Zhao, the giant apes have been dealt with. It’s not safe to linger here. Let’s head back.”

Zhao Jiehui nodded. ”The objective of this expedition has been achieved. It’s time to return to the Sect and turn in our mission.”

After he spoke, the three prepared to leave. But just then, the ground beneath them began to tremble. They frowned and exchanged a worried look.

Ye Qingchen quickly activated his Double Pupils to find the source of the tremor. When he saw what was coming, he couldn’t help but exclaim in shock, ”The giant ape leader? This is bad! Senior Brother Zhao, Sister Hong Yan, get out of here now! I’ll lead it away!”

With that, Ye Qingchen sprinted off into the distance.

”The giant ape leader? Isn’t that a Rank Four Monster Beast?” Hong Yan cried out in surprise.

Zhao Jiehui nodded grimly. ”Indeed. A Rank Four Monster Beast is comparable in strength to a Third-Layer Great Martial Master. Even though Junior Brother Qingchen has reached the Seventh Layer of the Martial Master Realm, he still stands no chance against the giant ape leader. I can’t let that happen! I have to go help him!”

As Zhao Jiehui started to follow, Hong Yan grabbed his arm, stopping him.

She shook her head, her gaze firm. ”Junior Brother Qingchen isn’t a reckless person. If he chose to do this, he must have some confidence. Besides, if we join the fight now, we’ll only be a burden to him and distract him.”

Zhao Jiehui paused. He was reluctant to admit it, but she was right.

Pulling Zhao Jiehui along, Hong Yan broke into a run. ”Senior Brother Zhao,” she said, ”all we can do now is trust Junior Brother Qingchen and get out of here. He’s only doing this to keep us safe. Maybe once we’re gone, he’ll have a way to shake off the giant ape leader!”

Zhao Jiehui sighed. I, who have always had such high aspirations, am now a burden to someone else. It seems that after returning to the Sect, I’ll have to enter closed-door cultivation immediately and strive to catch up to Junior Brother Qingchen.

Having understood the crux of the matter, Zhao Jiehui no longer hesitated. Though they were not fully healed, Ye Qingchen’s Spirit Pills had helped them recover a good deal of their strength. As a result, they were able to flee at an impressive speed.

If Ye Qingchen could have heard Hong Yan’s words, he would have marveled at how well she understood him.

He knew that in their current state, Zhao Jiehui and Hong Yan were in no condition to fight. Moreover, the giant ape leader was far too powerful for them to be of any help. Although he had no confidence he could defeat the creature, he was certain he could lure the beast away and then use his Mystifying Steps to escape. It was dangerous, but under the circumstances, it was his only option. For now, all he had to do was draw the giant ape leader’s attention entirely to himself!
