Invincible Snake Emperor

Faced with a threat from a venomous snake, the proud and arrogant peacock, Azure Owl, put on a disdainful expression and chirped in a clear, sweet, and cutesy voice, ”Hmph... Little Pi Pi Snake, with what, exactly, do you plan on eating me?”

’A one-meter-long snake trying to swallow a peacock like me? It’s certainly lacking the right-sized mouth for the job.’

But Tu Xiao’an just laughed, his Snake Gaze locked onto the peacock, making its skin crawl.

”So, you think I’m too small, is that it?”

A mocking voice echoed.

Suddenly, the peacock had a terrible premonition. The next second, it was frozen stiff. Before its very eyes, the little snake began to grow at a visible rate. Its aura surged, skyrocketing as it became majestic, Spiritual and Fierce.

A moment later, its whole world went dark, enveloped in the shadow of a twelve-meter-long Giant Snake.

That’s right, twelve meters. After devouring the Crowned Snake, Tu Xiao’an had gained two Levels, and his body had grown by another two meters.

Every Level up brought about a physical transformation.

”How about we test whether I can swallow you in one gulp now?”

The Giant Snake spoke in a hoarse, terrifying voice, its bell-sized Snake Gaze fixed on the dumbstruck peacock.

The peacock trembled, its voice choked with sobs. ”I’m not playing with you! You big meanie!”

Then, it turned and flew up like a magnificent green cloud, preparing to drift away from the Giant Snake’s side.

”Play?”

Tu Xiao’an sneered. ’Just as I thought, it’s not very bright. If I don’t teach you a good lesson, you’ll never understand what a terrifying existence you’re dealing with.’

His enormous tail cracked through the air and whipped the peacock straight out of the sky, slamming it back down to the ground.

BOOM...

The ground buckled, and a few beautiful feathers drifted slowly through the air.

Tu Xiao’an’s strike had been no joke. If it had hit the ground directly, the impact would have been earth-shattering.

He wasn’t worried that one lash would kill the peacock, either.

If it died that easily, it would be an insult to the title of High Rank Creature.

A moment later, a battered figure crawled out of the crater. Azure Owl frantically preened its feathers, crying, ”Waaah, my feathers! My feathers!”

Tu Xiao’an was speechless for a moment, but then his eyes lit up. ”Submit to me, or I’ll pluck you bald!”

To this vain peacock, those words were like the sounding of the trumpets for Doomsday Judgment. It was scared out of its wits.

’Consciousness, envelop! Subdue!’

Seeing the peacock’s mind in turmoil, Tu Xiao’an immediately decided to subdue it.

As his consciousness enveloped it, the peacock shuddered. A suffocating feeling washed over it, pressing and squeezing. It looked up at the towering Giant Snake with horrified eyes, now filled with dread.

Consciousness Suppression.

Tu Xiao’an grunted in his mind. ’Not being able to force a submission is such a pain.’ He had to constantly apply pressure on the peacock with his Consciousness Power, forcing it to submit.

One minute.

Three minutes.

Five minutes.

Azure Owl was still struggling with all its might. It knew full well that if it submitted, it would be reduced to being this snake’s pet.

For the King of Hundred Birds, this was the ultimate blasphemy.

It was the king of all birds, noble and extraordinary. To become a snake’s pet? It would rather die.

”Still struggling? I guess you don’t want your feathers anymore, is that it?”

At Tu Xiao’an’s sharp rebuke, Azure Owl felt both wronged and terrified, looking exactly like a little girl being bullied by a creepy old man.

’Looks like I need to change tactics. Time for the carrot and the stick.’ A flash of inspiration struck Tu Xiao’an. With a thought, a piece of Snake Skin materialized in front of Azure Owl.

This piece of Snake Skin emitted an exotic fragrance and was suffused with Energy. It instantly captured the peacock’s attention. Its eyes sparkled, and it looked as if it wanted nothing more than to swallow the Snake Skin whole.

High Rank Creatures like this were highly intelligent and understood that there was no such thing as a free lunch. But clearly, this Little Peacock was a glutton. The piece of Snake Skin, continuously emitting its exotic fragrance, floated back and forth before its eyes.

It simply couldn’t resist the temptation. With a peck of its long beak, it had the Snake Skin in its mouth.

And as it ate, it forgot all about resisting the pressure enveloping its body.

”Haha... Subdue!”

A light flickered around the peacock’s body, and then it vanished into thin air.

His trick having succeeded, Tu Xiao’an immediately checked his system’s creature inventory and found the peacock sitting there obediently with a look of utter confusion on its face.

”Ding... Congratulations, Host, for subduing the Level 15 High Rank Creature, Azure Owl the Peacock. You have obtained 100,000 Energy Value.”

’One hundred thousand?’

Tu Xiao’an’s eyes lit up. He’d gotten the King of Hundred Birds *and* a hundred thousand Energy Value. It couldn’t get any better than this.

Suddenly, another thought occurred to him. ’If I had devoured this peacock, would I have gotten even more Energy Value?’

However, this nearly extinct Green Peacock had a noble bloodline and was one of the Awakened Creatures. Subduing it was more valuable than devouring it.

In any case, he had profited. Profited handsomely.

He had originally planned on catching a few rare Snake Species to take back with him, but he’d ended up snagging a peacock along the way. ’Could this be his reward for doing a good deed?’

If he hadn’t been looking for a good resting place for Miss Zhao Xinlan, he never would have flown to the peak of She Mountain.

And if he hadn’t flown to the peak of She Mountain, how would he have ever met this peacock with its noble bloodline?

Besides anything else, this peacock would make a great pet for his older sister. Who wouldn’t love such a beautiful bird?

With another thought, Tu Xiao’an made the beautiful peacock reappear before him.

As soon as it appeared, Azure Owl gave the one-meter-long, gold-and-silver snake a resentful look and called out reluctantly, ”Master.”

”Hehe, good. Stick with me from now on, and you’ll eat well.”

At the mention of eating, Azure Owl ground its beak in frustration. To think it had sold itself for a single piece of Snake Skin... It felt like dying.

Tu Xiao’an suddenly hopped onto the peacock’s back. Its magnificent feathers were exceptionally soft to lie on. He said happily, ”Let’s go. I’m taking you home.”

”Death before dishonor!”

Azure Owl was the dignified King of Hundred Birds, noble and extraordinary! Acting as a mount for a snake was the most ridiculous joke in the world.

”Let me go! Do you even know who my sister is?”

Azure Owl said in a threatening tone.

Tu Xiao’an paused at its words, and his eyes immediately lit up. ’Could there be another peacock on this mountain?’

’If so, subduing one is good, but subduing two wouldn’t be too many.’

”Who is your sister? Where is she?”

Azure Owl replied in a dead-serious, cutesy voice, ”My sister is the Phoenix. She’s in the heavens.”

Tu Xiao’an was instantly exasperated. He smacked the peacock’s feathery rump with his tail. ”Start flying, now! Or I’ll pluck you bald!”

’My sister is the Phoenix? Does it take me for a fool?’

’Hmph... What Phoenix is there in this world? Even if there were, what would I have to fear? And even if there isn’t, I’ll just evolve into one myself in the future.’

Such was his sheer dominance.

Its threat having failed, Azure Owl could only take off aggrievedly and serve as the snake’s mount. Besides, it couldn’t refuse to fly even if it wanted to.

Pets subdued by Tu Xiao’an had to obey his commands absolutely. It was not allowed to resist.

The system’s restrictions were no joke. If Tu Xiao’an wished it, he could turn this peacock to dust with a single thought.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

P.S.: A note about peacocks spreading their tails. For the sake of the plot, please don’t get hung up on the fact that only male peacocks do it, while females don’t. Is it really necessary? I’ve already written about a talking peacock, and you’re still worried about this? This isn’t a nature documentary; not everything has to be realistic.
