Invincible Snake Emperor

A King of Hundred Birds had fallen from the sky. How could Tu Xiao’an possibly be polite?

Tu Xiao’an had a general idea of why the Peacock had fallen. Judging by its habit of eating Snake Gallbladders, the hundreds of venomous snakes on the ground must have attracted it, luring it down for a feast.

A Peacock that enjoyed eating Snake Gallbladders was a strange tale for the ages. People said that Snake Gallbladders improved eyesight. ’Could it be that this Peacock wants to make its eyes even more beautiful?’

Back on the scene, the Peacock with its long, beautiful tail was already feasting among the clusters of snakes. With a single peck of its sharp beak, it would pluck out a fresh, still-beating Snake Gallbladder. It was instant death; not a single venomous snake could withstand a single move from it.

These terrifying venomous snakes were like lambs to the slaughter before the Peacock, with no choice but to await their deaths. Even if their fangs managed to bite the Peacock, they would only sink into its thick plumage, completely useless.

In just a few moments, no fewer than thirty venomous snakes had died, their Snake Gallbladders pecked out.

Driven to desperation, dozens of venomous snakes attacked simultaneously from all directions. Could hundreds of venomous snakes really be annihilated by a single bird?

But just then...

SCREEE!

The Peacock’s crystalline eyes began to glow as it let out a piercing cry. Then, its long tail feathers began to rustle. Its beautiful tail, like a vibrant fan in a Fairy’s hand, slowly unfurled. The resulting display resembled a giant feather fan, adorned with countless iridescent ”eyes.” Each eye glittered like a star, so bright they could blind a person.

”The peacock is fanning its tail?”

Tu Xiao’an watched in excitement. What a magnificent sight. You can’t truly imagine the beauty of a peacock’s display unless you’ve seen it in person.

Moreover, this was a Peacock of an incomparably noble bloodline, far beyond the common blue peacocks kept in zoos for display.

But for all its beauty, it was a rose with thorns—it could hurt you.

As soon as the Peacock fanned its tail, its feathers began to shimmer. A Formless power rippled through the air. As one watched, they would find themselves involuntarily hypnotized, growing dizzy and sinking into a stupor, unable to break free.

Tu Xiao’an’s heart jolted. He narrowed his eyes, and his Snake Gaze instantly cleared his mind.

He immediately glanced around and saw that all the venomous snakes, which had been glaring fiercely just moments before, were now lying limply on the ground, completely still. It was as if they were trapped in a beautiful dream from which they could not escape.

CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP...

The Peacock, Azure Owl, chirped happily, looking quite proud of itself. It first used its sharp beak to preen its beautiful feathers, then elegantly strode forward on its long legs to begin the harvest.

It aimed its sharp beak at one of the mesmerized snakes and pecked, plucking out a fresh Snake Gallbladder.

And just like that, the Peacock tirelessly devoured one Snake Gallbladder after another. The venomous snakes died without ever knowing what had happened.

Suddenly, one snake caught the Peacock’s attention. While every other snake lay on the ground, collectively mesmerized, this one alone held its head high, standing out conspicuously.

The Peacock shot the venomous snake an arrogant glance. Admittedly, this snake looked rather unique, not as ugly as the others. But a moment later, a look of narcissistic disdain crossed its face.

It strode elegantly on its long legs toward the snake. As it drew near, its crystalline eyes filled with contempt.

’At best, it’s a snake that isn’t ugly. I’m still going to eat its Snake Gallbladder all the same.’

Its long, sharp beak suddenly darted toward the snake’s gallbladder, a casual and effortless strike.

CLANG...

A metallic clang erupted. The Peacock’s sharp beak felt as if it had struck solid steel and was thrown back.

In that instant, a flicker of human-like surprise appeared in the Peacock’s eyes, and its contemptuous gaze vanished.

’This is the first time I’ve ever missed.’

It looked again at the not-so-ugly snake. To its surprise, the snake’s very own gaze—its Snake Gaze—held a familiar look of contempt and disdain.

”You’ve eaten so many Snake Gallbladders. Haven’t you had enough?”

The snake had spoken. The scene was so bizarre that it seemed to frighten away a gust of mountain wind, which quickly howled past.

SCREE!

The Peacock was genuinely startled and immediately grew wary. It understood now—this was no ordinary venomous snake.

’I’ve run into a powerful foe.’ A sense of crisis welled up within it.

Instantly, its long, ground-sweeping tail fanned out once more. Another peacock’s display. Countless stars flickered among its feathers, and space itself began to ripple faintly.

It was a magnificent sight, one that could easily trap a person in its beauty, unable to break free.

Whether creature or human, anyone without exceptionally strong Consciousness Power would find it difficult to maintain their composure and would be captivated by the display.

”That trick of yours is useless against me. Put it away.”

Tu Xiao’an’s Snake Gaze narrowed. A Formless, powerful Consciousness Power enveloped the Peacock, forcibly closing its fanned-out tail.

”My turn. Consciousness Lock, subdue!”

He was now Level 17. Although the Peacock had a noble and extraordinary bloodline, it was only Level 15.

The Peacock felt a tremendous pressure envelop its entire body and began to struggle in fright.

”Hmph... Just be a good little pet for me.”

Tu Xiao’an only had that dumb dog, Xiaobai. Getting a Peacock as a pet would be a serious upgrade.

After all, he was a snake with status now—the Snake King. This Peacock would make a fine mount, too.

The thought made him bubble with excitement, but then...

[Ding! Forceful subjugation of High Rank Creature: Peacock has failed.]

Huh? Tu Xiao’an was dumbfounded.

’Failed? How could it fail?’

’Wasn’t I supposed to be able to forcefully subjugate any creature with a lower Level than me?’

’Was the system lying?’

’If I can’t forcefully subjugate it, this is going to be a problem. Do I have to beat this arrogant and beautiful Peacock half to death before I can tame it?’

”You ugly freak! I won’t eat your Snake Gallbladder anymore!”

The Peacock sounded a little scared. It let out a crisp, melodious voice, like that of a little girl who had just learned to talk.

Huh? This Peacock could actually speak human words? Tu Xiao’an was stunned when he heard it.

Even if this Peacock had an extraordinary bloodline and was a High Rank Creature, it was still only Rank One. According to what Tu Xiao’an knew, creatures had to reach Rank Two in their Cultivation to gain the ability to speak.

’It seems High Rank Creatures really are different,’ Tu Xiao’an thought. ’They’re born with a golden key in their mouths; their starting point is just higher. They’re like those human prodigies who can talk at age one, recognize words at two, and recite poetry at three.’

But this only made Tu Xiao’an more determined not to let the Peacock go. If he could subjugate it as a pet, its potential would be limitless.

Maybe, with the system’s help, he could even evolve this Peacock into a Phoenix one day.

This was a high-potential asset with limitless possibilities.

”Come with me. I’ll give you as many Snake Gallbladders as you want to eat.”

Tu Xiao’an decided to try and trick the Peacock. Based on the voice he’d just heard, it was clearly young, like a little girl. Its body wasn’t fully grown either; it was still developing.

’Its mind can’t be very mature.’

Hearing this, the Peacock gave the Gold and Silver Snake an arrogant, contemptuous look, as if to say ’You’re not worthy of me.’ It then said, ”Ugly fweak, you go ’way!”

A dark look crossed Tu Xiao’an’s face. ’Ugly freak? But I’m the super-hottie of the Snake Race!’

”Submit to me and come with me, or I’ll eat you!”

The Gold and Silver Snake opened its bloody maw, revealing a fierce and savage expression. If the soft approach wouldn’t work, he’d have to use force.
