Chapter 2760: Chapter 1020: Old Tales of the West Desert, True Masters of the Giant House

”How much do you know about that person from the East Sun Sect, Brother Deng?”

”Not much, but from what I see, that person is nowhere near as formidable as you, Brother Luo. There’s no need to worry excessively.”

”Oh?” Luo Chen blinked and smiled slightly, ”Does Brother Deng have that much confidence in me?”

Deng Taiyue sighed, ”Even without mentioning how you once suppressed a Netherworld Ghost Cultivator right before my eyes, just the recent rumors of the Western Desert Pure Land battle are enough to make me fully confident in you.”

Luo Chen raised an eyebrow, surprised that his deeds in the West Desert had spread to the Eastern Wasteland.

But considering the timeline, it was about right.

Especially since that battle, where his achievements were quite astounding, was qualified to be spread to other continents.

Seeing that Luo Chen did not refute or argue, Deng Taiyue understood that the rumors were not false, and his admiration grew even more.

”To fight against the Xuankong Thirty-six Monks alone and remain undefeated, and to break the Arhat Formation instantly with the demoness Qing Shuang—not even my high estimations can encapsulate your prowess, Brother Luo!”

Luo Chen laughed heartily, ”People tend to exaggerate—who’s to know that I was merely struggling to hold on under the siege of those thirty-six monks?”

Deng Taiyue knew he was being modest and didn’t debunk him. Instead, he curiously asked, ”According to the information released by the Tianyuan Daoist Sect, you were once life-and-death adversaries with the demoness Qing Shuang. Why then did you join forces in the West Desert to fight the world?”

”Grudges and emotions are ever unpredictable—it’s hard for me to fully explain in just a few words!” Luo Chen chuckled, steering away from the topic, and then turned the conversation to what he was more concerned about, ”Is that all the news coming from the West Desert?”

Deng Taiyue’s expression turned serious, ”Indeed, there’s another major issue!”

Luo Chen became interested, making a gesture of listening attentively.

What Deng Taiyue was about to say was indeed what Luo Chen wanted to know.

The Hanging Temple has once again been sealed!

But this time, it wasn’t closed voluntarily but rather forcedly sealed shut by others!

It’s said that back when the demoness Mo Luo defeated the most elite Xuankong Thirty-six Monks in the Pure Land, Master Xuan Du arrived outside the Cui Lan Screen of the Hanging Temple.

He used his entire Divinity Transformation Dao Cultivation as the price to activate the Glazed Pure Land, transforming it into the Infinite Buddha Land, attempting to meld it into the Cui Lan Screen.

During this time, the Arhat Mahakala made several moves, and directly killed Master Xuan Du, but was still unable to prevent the fusion of the Glazed Pure Land and the Cui Lan Screen.

A Space Spiritual Treasure merged into an already unparalleled natural defense—its power was simply beyond imagination.

Amidst Mahakala’s resentful roars, the Hanging Temple was completely sealed.

The news sounds simple, but if one were truly present, one could imagine how fierce that battle must have been.

Hearing this, Luo Chen couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of lament.

”I did not expect Friend Xuan Du to actually sacrifice himself for the sake of sentient beings.”

If it were him, having finally achieved the God Transformation Realm, he wouldn’t have easily accepted death with such composure.

Recalling his conversations with Xuan Du before leaving back then, Luo Chen thought to himself that if time allowed, he should indeed offer a stick of incense to him.

Deng Taiyue continued, ”Mahakala was sealed, but the Daoist Lineage of the Hanging Temple was not severed. Before Master Xuan Du died, he left behind sixteen monks, each with the strength comparable to a Nascent Soul True Master. They still spread the Buddhist Dao in the West Desert under the name of the Hanging Temple.”

At this point, Deng Taiyue looked at Luo Chen.

”It’s said those sixteen were the portion of the original thirty-six monks who were lucky to survive under your hands.”

Luo Chen smiled and shook his head, turning the topic back around.

”The West Desert is too far from us; let’s talk about that figure from the East Sun Sect instead!”

Deng Taiyue agreed and began talking about the Great Elder of the East Sun Sect based on his understanding, ”This person is a very traditional cultivator from the East Sun Sect, showing talent from a young age and excelling in his studies. After advancing to the Nascent Soul Realm, he, like his predecessors, went to the Dark Abyss Sect for further training. He is different from other cultivators of the East Sun Sect in that he genuinely pledged allegiance to the Dark Abyss Sect back in the day, to the extent of obeying their every command.”

”During his reign over the East Sun Sect, not only did the sect guard the Eastern Wilderness Gate for the Dark Abyss Sect, but the disciples of the East Sun Sect could also be freely mobilized and commanded by the cultivators of the Dark Abyss Sect.”

”To put it nicely, they were as close as family; bluntly put, he was nothing more than a dog.”

Luo Chen recalled some of his experiences from back then.

He had indeed witnessed the disciples of the Dark Abyss Sect commanding those of the East Sun Sect; such situations were rare even among friendly sects.

Not to mention between sects, even within the same sect, there are different factions.

Such ’harmony’ clearly shows the lowly stance of the East Sun Sect.

So what did the East Sun Sect’s Great Elder gain from serving the Dark Abyss Sect so diligently?

”He is the youngest Great Cultivator in the history of the East Sun Sect; back when he stepped into the Late Stage Nascent Soul, he was less than five hundred years old! At that age, most would still be seeking various opportunities to advance to the Nascent Soul Stage.” Deng Taiyue marveled for a moment, then instinctively glanced at Luo Chen, a rather surreal suspicion arising in his mind, ”Brother Luo, you must already be in the Late Stage Nascent Soul, right?”

Luo Chen smiled and admitted calmly, ”Naturally, yes.”

Deng Taiyue breathed a sigh of relief—if Luo Chen weren’t in the Late Stage Nascent Soul, he’d begin to doubt his understanding of the world. After all, Luo Chen’s illustrious achievements in the West Desert would be too terrifying if done at the Middle Stage Nascent Soul.

Of course, unbeknownst to him, Luo Chen was indeed only at the Sixth Layer of Nascent Soul back then.

But even so, he couldn’t help but repeatedly marvel as he relaxed.

”I talk about how extraordinarily talented the East Sun Sect’s Great Elder is, but compared to your peerless brilliance, he still falls far short! You’re only around three hundred years old now, aren’t you?”
