Immortal-Exterminating Divine Venerable

”How are we supposed to resolve this?”

”Exactly. The Second Elder is being so reckless! With that one palm strike, the Saint Prince is a dead man. When Human Emperor Xuanyuan flies into a rage, our Lu Family will...”

As they watched Second Elder Lu’s palm about to strike Saint Prince Yang Xiao dead, all the Lu Family Elders felt a sense of impending doom.

If Saint Prince Yang Xiao truly died in the Lu Family Secret Realm,

then Lord Human Emperor would undoubtedly investigate the matter.

If the Saint Prince died in a fair and just competition—or even an unfair one—as long as it was at the hands of a peer, Human Emperor Xuanyuan likely wouldn’t blame the Lu Family too harshly. After all, that would be a conflict among the younger generation. If he died, it could only be said that the Saint Prince’s skills were inferior. Should Lord Human Emperor insist on pursuing the matter, he would only invite scorn and criticism.

At most, he would only make things difficult for the Lu Family. But the Lu Family had lived in seclusion here for millions of years; even the Human Emperor had little authority over them. Making trouble for them would be meaningless.

That was why, when Lu Fangxing had provoked Yang Xiao and challenged him to a duel earlier, the Elders had felt some concern but no real sense of crisis.

But now, the Second Elder had actually made a move.

He was a Tier Eight True God, a being with the title of Divine Venerable.

This move broke a major taboo.

If Human Emperor Xuanyuan were to find out that the Saint Prince he had painstakingly chosen, a prodigy of this generation, had actually died at the hands of a Lu Family elder... he would be absolutely furious.

The Lu Family had no Great Emperor watching over them now.

They could not withstand Human Emperor Xuanyuan’s fury.

When that time came,

what would happen?

The mere thought sent a chill of terror through the hearts of the Lu Family Elders.

Even the Lu Family’s Great Elder, a Divine King Level expert, was no exception.

His expression was incredibly grim.

But just as Second Elder Lu’s palm was about to strike Yang Xiao,

a brilliant golden light suddenly flashed from Yang Xiao’s body.

Then,

to everyone’s astonishment, Yang Xiao’s entire body transformed into a streak of iridescent light.

And vanished.

Second Elder Lu’s palm strike, coming in that same instant, struck nothing but air just a moment after Yang Xiao disappeared.

Tremendous power erupted.

This terrifying power seemed to contain the full force of Second Elder Lu’s attack.

When it erupted, the entire Lu Family Secret Realm trembled slightly from the force.

To say nothing of the epicenter of the blast.

The very void seemed to be torn asunder.

But Yang Xiao was already gone.

And so, the Lu Family’s many Elders breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Although they knew the Second Elder’s actions had likely offended the Saint Prince, as long as he wasn’t dead, explaining things to Human Emperor Xuanyuan would be far easier.

But when their eyes focused on the Second Elder, their expressions grew strange.

For at that very moment, the Second Elder seemed not to have come to his senses. It was as if he were caught in a Demon Barrier; even though Yang Xiao had already escaped, he still hadn’t halted his charged-up attack.

The result of this was that,

Yang Xiao had escaped unharmed by transforming into a streak of light.

However, Lu Fangxing—the Second Elder’s most doted-on grandson, and the very reason the elder had attacked in the first place—was caught directly in the area where the power erupted.

And he was instantly torn to shreds by the force.

Seeing this,

everyone was stunned once more.

”What’s wrong with the Second Elder? He even killed Lu Fangxing?”

someone muttered.

They simply couldn’t make sense of it.

Not far away, Lu Fangliang was even more horrified.

He had originally intended to save Yang Xiao.

Fortunately,

he had been a step too late.

If he hadn’t been, that last palm strike probably would have torn him to pieces as well.

At that moment, everyone stared at Second Elder Lu with the strangest expressions.

”I... what’s wrong with me?”

In truth, Second Elder Lu himself was also completely stunned.

For some reason, an overwhelming urge to kill Yang Xiao had just washed over him. ’It was as if that was the only way to save my most precious grandson, Lu Fangxing.’

’But now... what have I done?’

’Not only did I fail to kill Yang Xiao, but my own grandson, Lu Fangxing, died by my hand.’

’What in the world just happened?’

”Could it be... that my Heart Demon was just triggered?”

Having come to his senses, Second Elder Lu stood there, stunned.

”Heart Demon?”

Hearing this, the Lu Family Elders were all shaken to the core.

But disbelief was written on most of their faces.

Only the Lu Family’s Great Elder, the Divine King Level existence, had a divine light flicker in his eyes.

With a flicker of his form, he appeared before Second Elder Lu.

His Divine King Level Spiritual Power surged into Second Elder Lu’s Divine Body. After searching for a good while, he finally discovered a trace of something amiss within the Second Elder’s Divine Soul.

”Demonic Qi! It’s actually Dark Night Demonic Qi! How could this stuff be inside the Second Elder’s Divine Soul Sense?”

The Lu Family’s Great Elder’s expression changed drastically.

With a raise of his hand,

he laid down several restrictions, instantly immobilizing the still-dazed Second Elder Lu.

”Great Elder?”

Second Elder Lu asked in alarm.

He saw the Great Elder say with a grave expression, ”You are afflicted with Dark Night Demonic Qi. Not even I can eliminate it. Furthermore, your attack on the Saint Prince just now was clearly a Dark Night Demon God attempting to use you to assassinate him. This matter is of grave importance, so I must imprison you first. But rest assured, Second Elder. Though you are at fault, you have not yet committed an unforgivable error. You were being used, so you should be alright.”

”But my grandson...”

Second Elder Lu was still unable to accept it.

”You’re still thinking about that now? Lu Fangxing was arrogant and ostentatious. He’s dead, and that’s that. Besides, didn’t you kill him with your own hands, Second Elder?”

At these words,

Second Elder Lu was rendered speechless.

He had just realized that he had no reason to avenge Lu Fangxing.

’The murderer was clearly me.’

In that instant, Second Elder Lu’s expression fell.

Seeing his state, the other Elders could only sigh softly.

To personally kill the most outstanding junior of one’s own lineage... The mere thought was unbearable. This was especially true for the Second Elder, who was normally so proud and arrogant.

Clearly, he would be even less able to bear it.

’But who was there to blame?’

’Besides, rather than wasting time worrying about the Second Elder, it would be better to consider where the Saint Prince was now.’

’Is he safe?’

’Did something happen to him?’

’And what are his thoughts on the Lu Family?’

’Will he retaliate?’

’Still, with Lu Fangliang from the Patriarch’s line there, things probably won’t sour too much, right?’

the Elders thought to themselves.

What they didn’t know, however, was that at this very moment, a figure was standing before Yang Xiao, asking the very questions on their minds.

”Yang Xiao, you were on good terms with the Lu Family. But now, someone from the Lu Family tried to kill you. What do you intend to do?”
