I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week

Chapter 2028: Lin Yi’s Insight

Because it was dark, Ling Han had to take a closer look before recognizing Lin Yi.

“It’s definitely him.”

Since she had only seen his photo and not met him in person, she had to look carefully.

“No way, just look at him. He’s got delicate skin and a refined look—he seems like an ordinary low-ranking officer. How could he have turned the tide in the inter-district competition?”

“I get the same feeling. Maybe the Xinshan precinct exaggerated his abilities,” Zhao Su added.

Ling Han frowned slightly. While one shouldn’t judge by appearances, Lin Yi’s delicate appearance didn’t match the image she had in mind.

“I’m not entirely sure what the truth is, but let’s not focus on that right now,” Ling Han said seriously.

“Our goal is to be the first to capture Bai Yongshou. Everything else doesn’t concern us.”

“Understood!”

As Ling Han and her team assessed Lin Yi, the Xinshan precinct team was also sizing her up.

“Brother Li, that woman you mentioned must be the one with her hair tied up, right?”

“There are three women on their side. How did you pick her out?”

“D-cup, way bigger than Gu Yiran,” someone joked.

Gu Yiran, “…”

“With her covered up like that, how can you even tell?” Zhu Junchi asked. “They all look the same size to me.”

“That’s just experience talking.”

Gu Yiran shot Lin Yi a glare and muttered to herself, “Bunch of perverts.”

At this moment, the three leaders of the operation gathered together.

Among them was a central office leader named Liu Chunjiang, who stood at the center of the group.

From his demeanor, it was clear he wasn’t aware of Lin Yi’s true identity.

“I won’t dwell on the importance of this mission—you all understand it well. I’m handing over command to you both, so review your plans and make sure nothing goes wrong.”

Liu Chunjiang’s approach was textbook.

He verbally appointed Liu Guangxian and Han Zhongyu from the Songjiang precinct as the leaders, but in reality, this had little practical meaning.

If the mission failed, the two would take the blame. If it succeeded, Liu Chunjiang would claim most of the credit.

“Understood!”

The two men responded quietly.

Then Liu Guangxian and Han Zhongyu moved to one side. Han Zhongyu smiled and said,

“Old Liu, for this mission, our two precincts must cooperate closely. We need to make sure we catch every last one of them. No one gets away!”

“Absolutely,” Liu Guangxian replied with a hearty laugh.

“I’ve brought out all the elite officers from the Xinshan precinct for this. Not a single one of them will escape!”

“Great to hear that,” Han Zhongyu said.

“Let’s stick to the plan we discussed earlier. Everything should go smoothly.”

“Alright.”

Liu Guangxian agreed and then called everyone over to give instructions.

But just as he was about to assign tasks, Han Zhongyu spoke up, addressing both teams.

“According to the plan I previously outlined, each precinct will handle their own responsibilities during this operation.”

“The bathhouse has a front and a back entrance. During the operation, our Songjiang precinct will handle the back entrance while the Xinshan precinct covers the front. We’ll trap them inside like catching fish in a barrel. No one will escape.”

Lin Yi exchanged a glance with Li Xianghui, sensing that Han Zhongyu was being quite cunning.

The operation hadn’t even started, yet Han Zhongyu was already taking credit.

The plan, which had been jointly discussed, now seemed as if it were all his doing.

He was giving orders as if he were the overall commander, overshadowing the more honest Liu Guangxian.

What’s worse, with higher-ranking officials present, Han Zhongyu’s words made Liu Guangxian appear as a mere sidekick.

Lin Yi chuckled quietly, sympathizing with Old Liu’s frustration.

“Additionally, according to our informant, Bai Yongshou is in room 409 of the bathhouse. Once the operation begins, make sure to proceed discreetly. We don’t want to alert Bai Yongshou’s gang prematurely, as they might resist in desperation, complicating the capture. That’s the plan for tonight. Everyone clear?”

“Yes, sir!”

The Songjiang precinct officers responded.

“Then let’s get started.”

“Hold on,” Lin Yi interjected.

“That’s all there is to the plan?”

Han Zhongyu glanced at Lin Yi.

He was aware of Lin Yi’s reputation from the inter-district competition, but surprised to see him speak up.

“That’s all.”

Han Zhongyu seemed to guess what Lin Yi was about to say and quickly added,

“I understand you might think the plan is too simple, but as an experienced officer, I can tell you that real-life operations aren’t like movies or novels. The more complicated the plan, the more likely something will go wrong. Simplicity is key. I’m sure Old Liu has taught you this basic principle.”

The operation hadn’t even begun, but tension was already brewing between the two sides.

The Songjiang officers looked at Lin Yi with amusement, thinking he was trying to show off.

At this critical moment, he was challenging Han Zhongyu’s plan, which they found naive.

Not far away, Ling Han glanced at Lin Yi.

Initially, she had high expectations for him, thinking he might pose a challenge during the operation.

But now, she felt she might have overestimated him.

Someone so eager to be in the spotlight was unlikely to go far in their career.

Her earlier concerns seemed unnecessary.

Liu Chunjiang also sensed that Lin Yi was trying to show off. Being so high-profile at such a young age was not a good sign.

“I’m not saying it’s too simple. I’m saying there’s a problem.”

“What problem? Feel free to point it out, and I’ll explain,” Han Zhongyu said.

“Who said the Qianjiang Bathhouse only has a front and back entrance?”

This statement surprised everyone, as it wasn’t something they had anticipated.

“What do you mean? Are you suggesting there’s a third entrance?”

“There’s more than just a third entrance,” Lin Yi said.

“In addition to the east and west entrances, there’s also a south entrance.”

Han Zhongyu laughed and said,

“I’m aware the bathhouse has a south entrance, but it’s sealed off and never used. So there’s no need to consider it.”

“Who said it’s sealed off? If it were permanently closed, why was it designed in the first place? No one would go to the trouble of creating something useless,” Lin Yi countered.

“Moreover, according to the records, the Qianjiang Bathhouse has been open for eight years, and that south entrance was created by the owners in the second year, specifically to help important clients escape during police inspections.”
