857 My Brother’s Mother’s Surname Is Qin!

“Could it be that there wasn’t enough storage space for so many videos?”

Ji Qingyan was computer illiterate, but she still knew the most basic functions of the PC.

The video recordings seemed to take up a lot of memory space. Thus, it would not take long for the hard disk to be filled up.

“That would be possible.”

!!
Guo Ningyue muttered, ” I think there are other portable hard drives around. Let me look for them. ”

Guo Ningyue got up and rummaged through the drawers in the room, but she couldn’t find it.

Then, she opened the closet to take a look. There was nothing there, but she saw something else.

“Sister-in-law, come here. I’ll show you something good.” Guo Ningyue stopped what she was doing and said.

“What could it be?”

“Come quickly.”

Ji Qingyan stood beside Guo Ningyue.

She found that the wardrobe was filled with Wang Ma’s and Uncle Zhao’s clothes. The style was a little old and there was nothing eye-catching about them.

“What’s there to see?”

“Not these clothes. Look at the red quilt with embroidery below.”

Ji Qingyan looked in the direction Guo Ningyue was pointing.

She was surprised to see a quilt embroidered with lotus leaves, and her eyes lit up.

“This is Su embroidery!” Ji Qingyan was surprised.

“Su embroidery? I think I’ve heard of this thing before.” Guo Ningyue said,

“It is an ancient skill. It seems to be quite difficult to learn.”

“It’s not just difficult to learn. There are probably less than a hundred people in Huaxia who know this kind of craftsmanship,” said Ji Qingyan.

Ji Qingyan squatted down and touched the blanket. “The embroidery is so good. If this pair of blankets were to be auctioned, it would be worth at least a million yuan. ”

“No way, is it that valuable?” Guo Ningyue was shocked and very surprised.

“My mother is from Wuzhong. She knows how to embroider. She told me a lot about it when I was young, so I’m relatively familiar. Besides, I said 1 million, but that is already a very conservative figure. If they’re lucky, it’s possible to sell it for 1.5 million.”

“Oh my god, thank goodness you took a look. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known that such a valuable treasure was hidden in my house.”

“Hm?” Ji Qingyan muttered under her breath. “Didn’t you tell me that there was something good to look at? Didn’t you know how valuable it is?”

“I really didn’t,” Guo Ningyue said.

“I said it was good because my brother was wrapped it in this blanket when he was given to the orphanage.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m sure,” Guo Ningyue said.

“I remember one time when I was sleeping in my mother’s house. Coincidentally, my period came a few days late. I wanted to put a small blanket on the bed and saw this. However, my mother refused to let me use it no matter what. She said that my brother was wrapped in this blanket back then. It was a memento, so she didn’t let me take it.”

“And?”

“Then, I took my brother’s school uniform which I promptly stained. After that, my brother almost beat me to death when he found out about it.”

“Haha…”

Ji Qingyan laughed out loud without a care for her image. She felt embarrassed for Lin Yi just thinking about it.

Ji Qingyan reached out and touched the blanket. She felt that Lin Yi’s body temperature still lingered on it.

“Sister-in-law, if you want to see it, take it out and take a look. It’s not a big deal.”

“Can I?”

Ji Qingyan really wanted to take it out to take a look because it was the only thing related to Lin Yi’s childhood.

“It’s just a blanket. Why not?” Guo Ningyue said nonchalantly.

“Even if it’s worth 1.5 million, it’s nothing compared to my brother’s current net worth.”

“But I don’t dare to touch it. I’m afraid that Mother Wang will say something about me.”

“Sister-in-law, you’re too timid. When you get married in the future, you’re going to be bullied by my brother.”

“Your brother has been bullying me a lot now.”

“Sometimes in life, you have to take risks and face the consequences. It’s better to face these conflicts now even if it means getting into a fight, as you’ll reap the rewards in 18 years.”

As she spoke, Guo Ningyue took out the pair of red embroidered quilts.

“Aiya, be careful,” said Ji Qingyan. “This is the only thing your brother has left.”

“It’s fine. It can’t be broken.”

The carefree Guo Ningyue did not worry too much. She opened the blanket so that Ji Qingyan could see it clearly.

However, when the blanket was unrolled, Ji Qingyan and Guo Ningyue were both stunned.

This was because an envelope that had long turned yellow had fallen out from under the blanket. There was a piece of red paint on it.

On the wax, there was a traditional Chinese character “Qin”.

The two sisters-in-law looked at each other in surprise. They never expected that there would be a letter hidden under the blanket.

“Sister-in-law, this letter seems a little strange. It’s actually not sealed with glue.”

“This thing is called wax. It was used by wealthy families in ancient times,” said Ji Qingyan.

“When I was in school, in keeping up with the school’s history and culture, Yan University sealed our graduation recommendation letters with wax.

“However, this envelope is a little old. It seems to be from way back then. Moreover, the word ‘Qin’ on it looks very imposing, just like in ancient dramas.”

She rarely watched television dramas, but she had read many history books.

It was true that all the wealthy families in ancient Huaxia wrote letters like this.

The word “Qin” on it represented the identity of the person who wrote the letter.

“Sister-in-law, I suddenly thought of an issue,” Guo Ningyue gulped and said nervously.

“What question.”

“You just said that the pattern on the blanket is Su embroidery. It’s worth at least a million yuan now. More than 20 years ago, my brother was wrapped in it before being sent to the orphanage. How rich must my brother’s family be?”

After hearing Guo Ningyue’s words, Ji Qingyan also realized this problem.

More than twenty years ago, they had used a Su embroidery blanket as a baby’s blanket. Based on this, one would believe that they lacked money. At the very least, her own family would never be so extravagant.

“But your brother’s surname is Lin. How do you explain the word ‘Qin’?”

“Aiya, sister-in-law, you’ve been smart all your life, but sometimes you can be muddle-headed,” Guo Ningyue said.

“It means that my brother’s mother’s surname is Qin.”

Ji Qingyan pursed her lips. She had naturally thought of this as well.

However, Lin Yi’s mother was the madam of the Lin family. When she wrote a letter, she should write the word “Lin”, not “Qin”.

“Sister-in-law, do you think it’s possible that my brother’s identity is recorded within this letter?”

“I… I think it’s possible.”

“Shall we open it and take a look?”

“I don’t dare. I’m afraid that Mother Wang will be unhappy.”

“It’s fine,” Guo Ningyue said. “At most, I’ll let her scold me. I’ll take the blame for you.”

“It’s better not to. It’s been so many years, but Mother Wang hasn’t opened it. She definitely doesn’t want others to see it. If you open it, Mother Wang will definitely be unhappy.”

“But I’m curious.”

“Even if you’re curious, you can’t open it. It’s too rude.”

“Alright, I’ll listen to you. Let’s put the things back and continue looking for the hard drive.”

“Uh-huh.”

Just as the two of them were packing up their blankets, they unexpectedly saw Wang Cuiping walk in.

“Daughter-in-law, Xiaoyue, come out for dinner.”
