I Can Gain One Skill Point Per Second

Chapter 1172: Chapter 1172: The Chess Manual and Rebellion

Lin Yi spoke and extended his hand, shaking hands with Zeus.

On the Olympus Summit, the place of the gods, is a place only the Twelve Main Gods are qualified to enter.

Today, Lin Yi was granted the privilege to enter that sacred palace amidst the welcome of the Twelve Main Gods.

In the place of the gods, there are places for meetings, leisure, everything one could want.

The maids respectfully served fine wine and delicacies, arranging them before Lin Yi, then retreated properly.

The Twelve Main Gods raised their glasses together at Zeus’s signal.

”I heard you like playing chess and are quite skilled at it.”

”I wonder if you have any special opinions on the rules of black first, white second?”

Upon hearing this, Lin Yi paused for a moment, then displayed a relaxed smile.

He truly didn’t expect this fellow Zeus to be so straightforward.

When asking Lin Yi if he liked playing chess, was he asking about proper chess, wasn’t he actually referring to rebellion?

Nonetheless, Lin Yi had anticipated that Zeus would bring up this topic for discussion, so he wasn’t too surprised.

”Whether it’s the rules on the chessboard or the laws of nature, they all have their reasons. I wonder, did Lord Zeus ask this question due to dissatisfaction with the board’s rules?”

”I am somewhat knowledgeable in this area. If there are any dissatisfactions or inappropriate places, feel free to discuss them with me. Perhaps I might be able to help you.”

Hearing Lin Yi’s words, the smile on Zeus’s face grew even brighter.

Lin Yi could understand the meaning behind his words, acknowledge his intent, and didn’t outright reject it, which proved the upcoming matters were negotiable.

”It’s not a major matter, just, the rules on the chessboard appear increasingly tedious. Black moves first, white follows in a never-ending cycle, each step is limited, even the position of the stones is heavily constrained, making the one holding the white pieces feel increasingly bored, don’t you agree, Brother Lin Yi?”

Judging by his features, Zeus was over ten thousand years old.

However, even at such an age, the heroic spirit between Zeus’s brows is unmatched by ordinary upper-rank gods.

Even now, while Zeus’s face was brimming with a cheerful smile, you could not mistake him for a kindly old man.

From his remarks, one could discern his extraordinarily bold ambitions.

Lin Yi nodded in response to those remarks.

That indeed was a reason for Zeus’s rebellion.

No matter what one does, constraints are everywhere; even resource allocation is limited to leftovers, whereas Zeus, being quite powerful, was on par with the Immortal King ten thousand years ago.

Now, the disparity in power is entirely due to differences in class and resource allocation.

The Immortal King atop the pyramid controls all quality resources in his hands.

What falls into Zeus’s hands are just the leftovers.

Of course, simply having a reason for rebellion isn’t enough to earn Lin Yi’s support.

”Lord Zeus, there’s no way around it. The chessboard rules have been like this since ancient times. Breaking them is no easy task, and the obstacles faced are truly too many.”

”Without sufficient evidence prepared, this idea could be rejected the moment it’s proposed, crushed at the outset.”

Their dialogue seemed like a discussion on playing chess but was frighteningly thoughtful upon closer inspection.

The reason for making it so troublesome is because both of them are well aware.

If either party were to expose the matter, they could potentially justify themselves as merely discussing the art of chess.

The Immortal King surely wouldn’t believe it, yet there is no direct evidence that the two have ulterior motives.

Lin Yi’s concerns are indeed not unfounded.

As the supreme ruler controlling the Three Realms and Six Paths, Zeus understands the Immortal King’s mastery and cunning far better than most.

Lin Yi’s concerns are indeed reasonable; without complete preparation and a meticulous plan, there’s no qualification to challenge the Immortal King’s reign.

The Dark Rising Organization is the perfect example, serving as a cautionary tale without exaggeration.

Due to rushing the process, the Dark Rising Organization was oppressed.

Originally, with thorough preparation without exposure, the Dark Rising Organization might have shaken the Immortal King’s foundation.

After all, the All Gods Camp isn’t a solid iron bastion. On the contrary, it is quite fragmented.

Unfortunately, now the stratagem backfires.

Dark Rising’s urgency actually made the Immortal King’s reign more stable.

”Indeed, rules are difficult to break, especially those that have persisted for thousands of years; they are virtually unbreakable. However, the Three Realms and Six Paths are dynamic; as long as most feel the rules are flawed, with time, they must change, right?”

Public opinion is very important; Zeus is correct in this respect.

Lin Yi wholeheartedly agreed with this statement.

The Three Realms and Six Paths never belonged to a single person, but to the billions of beings living across this vast world.

The Immortal King can certainly establish his own rules for the beings of the Three Realms and Six Paths to follow, but that is all he can achieve.

”In chess, rules are mostly fixed, and everyone adheres to them. However, I’ve heard that before the demise of the Land of the Nine Netherworld, the King of the Nine Netherworld had a unique method of playing chess.”

”It’s said his strategy was fearless and fierce, aggressive and ruthless. He even left behind a chess manual. Unfortunately, no one knows its location now.”

”Rumor has it, mastering this chess method could reverse the positions of black and white on the board, wouldn’t that be more exciting?”

Heh.

Zeus, this guy, truly harbors great ambition.

However, his thinking is indeed sufficiently clear.

The Demon Slayer causing fear among the gods was definitely not due to their fearlessness, nor their near-maniacal killing intent. There must be other unknown attributes at play.

Starting with the Demon Slayer to shake the Immortal King’s reign is indeed a worthwhile approach.

”Is there such a wondrous chess manual? If it doesn’t live up to this extent, wouldn’t it be a joke then?”

To gain Lin Yi’s support, Zeus must discuss more content, something reassuring for Lin Yi.

Otherwise, why should Lin Yi support him?

Following his own rhythm, Lin Yi only needs another ten years to elevate his power enough to upset the balance, allowing Lin Yi to solve all troubles independently.

”Naturally, although I don’t know what exactly is documented within, I am certain that the chess manual is even more powerful than I described. We just need to spend some time to comprehend its mysteries to find the key to overturning traditional chess rules. What do you think?”

As Zeus spoke, he stood up and extended his hand towards Lin Yi.

Lin Yi looked at Zeus’s lean yet powerful hand without much hesitation and grabbed it.

He clearly understood this was no trap.

It’s not a test of loyalty from the Immortal King.

Obviously, the All Gods Camp is not a solid bastion, otherwise, the Desire Realm wouldn’t have fallen into Dark Rising’s hands during their commotion.
