I Can Gain One Skill Point Per Second

Chapter 860: Chapter 860: Nine Netherworld Brotherhood

Ever since entering the Jiuyou Main City, Lin Yi and his companions significantly increased their pace.

With the permit in hand, the journey was smooth, with stops only required for permits check; otherwise, there were hardly any interruptions.

However, throughout this journey, Lin You felt something was amiss.

Neither his older brother nor his father were ones to be trifled with.

Having known them for centuries, Lin You had seen countless instances of how they controlled situations. Even if Lin Yi arranged everything perfectly during this trip, it shouldn’t have been this smooth.

Noticing Lin You’s uneasy expression, Lin Yi immediately asked about it.

Lin You placed her hand on her heaving chest, trying to find some calm through this method.

“For some reason, I feel this mission is going too smoothly. My father, as the Lord of the Nine Netherworld, built this inhospitable place brick by brick. With his skills, it’s impossible that he hasn’t noticed my return.”

“Given how smoothly this journey has gone, I feel like even if we succeed in this mission, it won’t hold much significance.”

Ziyue was dumbfounded upon hearing this.

If this mission holds little significance, what about her homeland, her family, and friends?

Having established a master-servant relationship with Lin You for a long time, Lin You had never undertaken anything meaningless during this period.

Now, with her strength fully restored and having the skill [Tombstone Inscription], this girl’s perception of danger had reached a terrifying level.

Even if the suspicion seemed baseless, Lin Yi had to take it seriously.

“Lin You’s words might not be baseless. I, too, find this Land of the Nine Netherworld eerily quiet.”

“My intuition tells me we have to forgo attacking Qin Guang, speed up, and make a run for it after rescuing the people.”

Having experienced so much, Lin Yi had developed a keen sense of danger.

By rights, an hour ago, the judging Yama should have realized that the three captured Nine Nether Divine Soldiers were framed.

But so much time had passed, and Jiuyou City hadn’t gone into lockdown, nor did it pay any attention to the intruders.

This isn’t due to Lin Yi’s shrewdness; it’s clearly the calm before the storm.

Otherwise, given Qin Zhu’s tight grip on the Nine Netherworld, it’s unlikely he’d remain indifferent.

“Alright, let’s not delay; full speed ahead.”

During their passage to the Eighteen Layers of Hell, Lin Yi and the others witnessed the punishment of guilty ghosts administered by the Nine Netherworld.

The brutality was almost unbearable to watch.

The eight evil spirits in their hands were terrified and shivering.

Seeing that they had reached the door of the Eighteen Layers of Hell, the eight spirits quickly began to plead for mercy.

“Dear lord, we complied with your orders and cooperated fully with you gentlemen. Now that we’re approaching the Eighteen Layers of Hell, could you be kind and let us go, seeing how obedient we’ve been? We promise we won’t cause any trouble.”

If the eight evil spirits hadn’t spoken, Lin Yi might truly have forgotten about them.

Every layer of hell was guarded by Nine Nether Divine Soldiers.

Upon entry, the Punishment Department would administer the appropriate penalties to the evil spirits based on Yama’s judgments.

As Lin You mentioned, each layer didn’t have many soldiers deployed. If they acted swiftly enough, they could rescue Shakyamuni before the main contingent of Nine Nether Divine Soldiers arrived.

“Alright, I’ll let you go.”

With that, Lin Yi snapped his fingers, and the Fallen Heart Flame collars on the eight evil spirits disappeared instantly.

The eight evil spirits had no time to thank Lin Yi before the Fallen Heart Flame surged again, imprisoning the spirits once more.

“Oh, why aren’t you running away? Do you not want to leave? If not, then come with me to see what it’s like inside the Eighteen Layers of Hell.”

Moments later, the trio, along with the eight evil spirits, were brought before the officials of the Eighteenth Layer Hell’s Punishment Department.

The Nine Nether Divine Soldier overseeing the punishment checked the judgment Lin Yi produced and couldn’t help but frown.

“Such heinous offenders are rare. You’ve brought in eight at once, truly giving everyone a hard time.”

Upon hearing these words from the Punishment Department member, the eight evil spirits’ knees weakened.

If the punishments of the first seventeen layers were exaggerated, then wouldn’t the eighteenth layer include flaying and the like?

Realizing Lin Yi didn’t keep his word and was about to hand all eight spirits over, they didn’t care about the threat of the Fallen Heart Flame and cried out immediately.

“Lord of the Punishment Department, do not trust this person. He isn’t actually from your Nine Netherworld; he’s an outsider who infiltrated your ranks using some method. Quickly report to Yama, let Yama capture them!”

“Yes, dear lords, these three divine soldiers are impostors. We were coerced by them. We are committed to the regular operation of the Nine Netherworld, dear lords, you must see clearly.”

They thought revealing the truth would draw the Punishment Department’s attention, hoping for leniency.

But such explosive information did not evoke any shock from the Punishment Department.

After returning the permit to Lin Yi, the soldier from the Punishment Department lazily raised his head, focusing his gaze on Lin Yi’s face, as if he hadn’t heard the eight evil spirits’ claims.

“You’ve been through a lot along the way, haven’t you?”

What does that mean?

What is he implying?

Just as Lin Yi was about to use the [Tombstone Inscription] skill to figure out what this soldier intended to say, he suddenly remembered that this place could have a Skill Sensing Spirit Crystal.

Unsure how to engage, the Punishment Department soldier began to speak.

“These cunning evil spirits must have tried to sow discord among you three along the way, right? You three are too lenient. If it were me, I’d have ripped their tongues out long ago.”

“Brother, next time if you encounter such disrespectful ones, just deal with them aggressively. We’re colleagues and should be more forgiving towards each other, right?”

To be honest, meeting such a considerate colleague, Lin Yi felt somewhat moved.

If it weren’t for the impending confrontation, Lin Yi would have gladly called this ‘colleague’ a brother.

“Ah, brother, indeed. We only wanted to complete our handover to you here.”

Upon hearing this, the eight evil spirits hadn’t realized anything wrong initially; when they eventually understood, the Punishment Department’s people had already approached them.

“Don’t worry brother, there’s no need to go soft on this lot. Their brazenness here is a lack of respect for our Punishment Department. I’ll handle this.”

With these words, two additional Punishment Department operatives stepped forward, approaching the imprisoned eight evil spirits, ready for action.

The spirits of the Punishment Department carried special Dharma Artifacts crafted by Qin Guang, which had an absolute suppressive effect on Soul Bodies.

With just a wave of their hand, the Soul Bodies would obediently approach them.
