The Sect Master was rendered speechless, but he knew that Lady Yun wasn’t only saying that out of anger. She would definitely do that if anything happened to Lu Ye.

Crimson Blood Sect wasn’t the only Sect that was protective of their disciples. Yun Xuechu had made a name for herself decades ago. Many top Sects wanted to make her side with them, but she turned them down. Although she didn’t belong to any Sect now, she had accumulated a lot of connections over the years.

If she flared up, even Pang Zhen would have a hard time dealing with her.

“After the Dragon Throne is repaired, you should head to Grand Sky City. Since you’re a member of the Elder Council, do something about it even if you don’t have much say there!”

“Alright.” The Sect Master dipped his head.

He wasn’t interested in fighting for power, nor did he want to contend with others. However, things had come to a point where the disciples of the Crimson Blood Sect had no choice but to join Bing Zhou Watch. Now, only Lu Ye had to go there, but there would be more in the future. With the Sect Master in the Elder Council, he wouldn’t give any special rights to the disciples of his Sect, but he could ensure that they wouldn’t be bullied.

Even if Lady Yun never brought it up, he would still do it.

Since Shui Yuan was in the Divine Ocean Realm, she could take charge of the Crimson Blood Sect. As such, the Sect Master could leave with peace of mind.

…

Although Lu Ye had ventured into many places on the Spirit Creek Battlefield and the Cloud River Battlefield and experienced many crises and interesting incidents, he still felt like it was his first time leaving home as he headed to Grand Sky City.

He was expectant and thrilled, but he also felt sad at the same time.

As his Spirit Boat flew across the sky, he took in the stunning sights beneath him.

Considering his current speed, he could arrive in Grand Sky City in two days. If he activated Soar and Windwalk without caring about the consumption of energy, he could move even faster.

Since he had the ten-point map in possession, he wouldn’t be lost.

As he flew forward, he gradually moved further away from Mount Ao.

Half a day later, when Lu Ye was getting some rest in the boat, he suddenly heard screams and cries in a fit of panic coming from below.

“There seems to be a flood down there, Lu Ye!” said Yi Yi, who was driving the boat.

Lu Ye hurriedly got to his feet and looked down, only to see an entire village submerged in water. Upon impact, many houses were destroyed by the flood. Some of the sturdier houses were only seen with their roofs above the water.

From afar, Lu Ye could see some helpless people standing on the roofs.

Many people were calling for help, and babies were heard crying.

“Save them!” Lu Ye hurriedly kept his boat and shot downwards.

The people he came across on the Spirit Creek Battlefield and the Cloud River Battlefield were all cultivators.

However, there were still many commoners in Jiu Zhou. These commoners, whose lives were short and who got sick easily, were the foundation that allowed cultivators to be born.

If cultivators were faced with such a flood, they could easily flee. However, commoners were powerless to deal with such a disaster.

Under normal circumstances, commoners were protected by Sects that ruled over the territories where they lived.

Many commoners lived in the territory that the Crimson Blood Sect took charge of. There were also many cities that relied on the protection of the Crimson Blood Sect to survive. However, the Crimson Blood Sect had declined in the past, and there were not enough people to patrol the territory and help the commoners deal with disasters.

Therefore, in the past decades, many commoners moved out of the Crimson Blood Sect’s territory. That was why the Sect Master loved going to other Sects’ recruitment ceremonies and snatched talented people away.

Since there were not many people in his territory, it was hard to find people with the aptitudes to cultivate.

Lu Ye had no idea which Sect this area belonged to, but the flash flood meant that it would take time for the cultivators of that Sect to come over.

Since he happened to be there, he couldn’t turn a blind eye to it.

“Nine Wards Scroll!” Lu Ye said, after which Yi Yi fished it out and tossed it at him. Lu Ye took it and held it in his hand.

It was a small village with dozens of Families. Now, they were all impacted by the flood, and their lives were at stake. It would be unrealistic for Yi Yi and him to save all these people without relying on a Spirit Artifact. As such, he needed to use the Nine Wards Scroll.

This thing could keep and trap people, so it could be aptly used in this situation. It would only cost him Spiritual Power to sustain the scroll’s power.

“Mother! Father!” shouted a ten-year-old child while standing on a tree crown, but his parents were nowhere to be found. If not for his climbing skills, he would’ve been swept away by the flood.

Suddenly, he felt a gust of wind above him. He looked up and saw someone descending from the sky. Following that, he was covered in something, and his vision turned black. When he came to his senses, he was standing on a land of rocks.

The child was helpless and fearful. Although he had no idea what had happened, he understood that a cultivator must’ve saved his life. [But where is it?]

While he was at a loss, a figure suddenly appeared beside him. It was a white-haired old man. He must’ve been soaked in water for quite a while, so he was quivering uncontrollably.

Seeing the old man, the child rushed over. “Grandpa Chen!”

“Er Niu!” The old man coughed.

“Have you seen my parents, Grandpa Chen? Where’s this?”

“Your parents… Don’t worry. A cultivator from Clear Spring Sect has come to save us. This is a safe place.” The old man surnamed Chen consoled the child.

He had no idea where this place was, and he thought that Lu Ye was from Clear Spring Sect. Since it was a cultivator’s move, commoners like them naturally couldn’t understand it.

More and more people appeared on this land of rocks. Suddenly, Er Niu shouted in surprise, “Father! Mother!”

He ran towards his parents, who were separated from him a while ago.

The married couple had just gotten out of the woods, and their child was right before their eyes. Naturally, they were ecstatic. They hugged each other tightly, worried that they would be separated again.

Lu Ye moved around and kept the struggling people inside the Nine Wards Scroll. Yi Yi and Amber were helping to save the villagers and send them to Lu Ye.

In comparison, the people saved by Amber were terrified. When Amber opened its mouth and bit their clothes, they were scared out of their wits. Half of them passed out, and those who managed to stay conscious kept punching Amber, which made the tiger frustrated.

Several dozen breaths of time later, Lu Ye managed to save all the villagers he could see. Those he didn’t see were probably dead.

Just then, several rays of light approached Lu Ye in a hurry. The person at the head said, “Thanks for saving the villagers, Fellow Cultivator! We’re from Clear Spring Sect. May I ask what your name is?”

It was Clear Spring Sect’s territory, and they were cultivators from that Sect. When they were patrolling in a nearby place and found out there was a flash flood, they immediately sent a message to their Sect and rushed over. From afar, they could see Lu Ye saving the villagers.

Soon enough, they landed in front of Lu Ye. The person at the head was in the Cloud River Realm, and the rest were in the Spirit Creek Realm.

Upon seeing Lu Ye’s face, the person at the head was shocked. “Are you Lu Yi Ye from Crimson Blood Sect?”

He apparently knew who Lu Ye was and had seen his image before, which was why he could recognise him at first glance.

Lu Ye nodded and continuously infused his power into the Nine Wards Scroll.

However, he wasn’t in the mood for some small talk. He looked into the distance and saw a city that was several dozen kilometres away. It was obvious that the flood was charging towards the city, and it was only ten kilometres away from the place.

Commoners naturally couldn’t see as far as the cultivators did. They were still going about their daily business, unaware that a disaster was coming.

The city was small, but there had to be at least several ten thousand residents. Although Lu Ye could save the villagers on his own, he couldn’t keep so many people in the city safe.

The cultivators from Clear Spring Sect saw that as well. The person at the head was astounded. “Oh, no!”

Faced with such a calamity, even Cloud River Realm Masters appeared powerless.

Although they had sent a message to the Sect, it would take the helpers some time to arrive.

“Please go to that city to alert them and disperse the people. I’ll have a look at the source,” Lu Ye said and passed the Nine Wards Scroll to Yi Yi. Then, a pair of fiery wings spread from behind him. With the blessing of Windwalk, he turned into a ray of light and shot towards the source of the flood.

In such a situation, if he wanted to save the people in the city, he had to deal with the source. Otherwise, the entire city would be drowned.

Looking in the direction where Lu Ye left, the cultivator at the head came to his senses. He sent another message to Clear Spring Sect while leading his Juniors to head to the city.

A moment later, the usually calm city descended into chaos.

Meanwhile, Yi Yi arrived at a highland with the Nine Wards Scroll and released the people inside. Then, she said, “Don’t go anywhere. Stay right here. Those from Clear Spring Sect will make an arrangement for you.”

With that, she rode atop Amber and ran after Lu Ye.

Among the anxious crowd, two men looked in the direction Yi Yi left with conflicted gazes.

“Big Brother… That person from earlier was Lu Ye, wasn’t he?” one of them asked in a small voice.

The other person remained silent.

“We haven’t seen him for several years, and he’s already so powerful now.” The person who spoke first suddenly felt sorrowful. When they were mining slaves at Evil Moon Valley back then, they had gotten into some conflicts with Lu Ye, who had taught them several lessons.

Much to their surprise, in just several years, Lu Ye, who had become a cultivator, was already so mighty. On the other hand, the two Brothers were not accepted by any Sect because they didn’t have sufficient aptitudes. They accepted Grand Sky Coalition’s arrangement to stay here, and it was destined that they couldn’t achieve much in their lifetimes.

“Everyone has a different fate. What’s the point of thinking about it?” Although the two of them were pretty much the same as several years ago, they had come to accept the fact that they didn’t have the aptitudes to cultivate.

When they suddenly saw Lu Ye again, they were shocked while feeling crestfallen for being ordinary.

“You’re right. Everyone has a different fate.” When Lu Ye saved them, he didn’t seem to recognise them. It was apparent that he had forgotten about them.

The moment Lu Ye became a cultivator, it was determined that their fates would drift apart.
