Homo Sapiens

Mad Island.

The Menabe District.

This was a low-lying grassland region on the West Coast.

The reason it had formed a tropical savanna instead of a rainforest like the East Coast was primarily due to the terrain.

Warm, moist air from the Ceylon Ocean was blocked by the plateaus and mountains in the central part of Mad Island, resulting in the plains of the West Coast becoming a tropical savanna.

The local tribes lived by herding, farming, and fishing, with their main food crops being cassava and corn.

The dominant power in this area was the Sakarawa people.

Among the various tribes of the Sakarawa people, the most modernized was the Morondava Tribe, which controlled a coastal port city—Mulonga Port. Thanks to the port and the international shipping lanes of the Mamo Strait, the tribe had prospered.

As a result, the status of Federer, the leader of the Morondava Tribe, had also risen within the entire tribal alliance.

He naturally used his economic advantage to win over many smaller tribes among the Sakarawa people, consolidating his influence within the tribal alliance.

At that moment, Federer was ecstatic. He had just received a promise from France: as long as he cooperated, he would be the one to lead Mad Island in the future.

Of course, having studied abroad in France, Federer knew full well that there was no such thing as a free lunch. To receive France’s full support, he had to prove his worth; otherwise, he would surely be abandoned.

And when he learned that the goal of France and America this time was to suppress the Homo Sapiens Company’s expansion in Africa, Federer agreed without hesitation.

On one hand, it was for his own ambition.

On the other hand, it was because Federer despised the Homo Sapiens Company’s methods, which did not align with the values instilled in him in Western Europe.

As the tribal chief, he was the head of a major local clan, a large landowner, and a prominent merchant.

If Mad Island were to become an economic colony of the Homo Sapiens Company, everything the Federer Clan had built would go up in smoke. That was why he had so readily agreed to France’s terms.

”Jia Gan.”

”Chief, what are your orders?” A fierce-looking Black man with thick lips stepped forward.

Federer ordered, ”Go to the airport over at Stone Town yourself. Take some trustworthy tribesmen with you and secure it. A batch of transport planes is arriving tomorrow at noon, so have the airport staff get everything ready.”

”Yes, Chief.”

Stone Town was located 11 kilometers north of Mulonga Port. The area had previously been a quarry, but after Federer’s rise to power, he had it converted into a private airfield.

Federer was an old fox. He knew the rules of the game were not well-established in many places, especially somewhere like Mad Island. It was almost inevitable that when disagreements arose, both sides would resort to brutal methods.

He had earned over a billion US Dollars over the years and owned property in both France and the Tongbei Road Kingdom, so naturally, he was terrified of death.

This airfield was one of his emergency escape routes.

Jia Gan took 500 tribal militiamen and drove in off-road vehicles to the Stone Town airport.

The Stone Town airport wasn’t large. It had only two small runways, an old-fashioned civilian radar, and a seven-story concrete control tower. There was also an underground fuel depot and a large hangar for private planes.

Upon arrival, Jia Gan immediately gathered all airport personnel and sealed off the area to prevent any information from leaking.

”Shari.”

The airport manager, Federer’s nephew, asked with a calm expression, ”What’s going on? Does my uncle need a plane?”

Jia Gan replied very seriously, ”No. The Chief ordered me to take temporary control of the airport. We have planes with foreign guests arriving tomorrow at noon. I need you to have the runways and navigation lights checked now. If there are any problems, fix them immediately. These are the Chief’s orders.”

”Foreign guests? How come I wasn’t informed? I’m going to call my uncle...”

But Jia Gan snatched Shari’s phone. ”Shari, the Chief requires radio silence at the airport from this moment on. Please don’t make things difficult for me.”

”You!” Shari was furious, but seeing Jia Gan’s expression, he didn’t dare say anything more. He could only swallow his anger for now, plotting inwardly. ’I’ll definitely find a chance to have my uncle transfer this bastard to guard the mines.’

Soon, the airport runways, radar, and navigation lights were all inspected and ready.

The next day at noon, four signals suddenly appeared on the radar in the airport control tower. The technician in charge of the radar turned and reported, ”Four signals detected.”

Jia Gan, who was also in the tower, ordered, ”That’s them. Guide them in for a landing.”

Although Shari inwardly looked down on Jia Gan, he still obediently complied. ”Guide the aircraft for landing.”

Four A400M transport planes circled in the sky before landing on the runway one by one.

Seeing the planes land safely, Jia Gan breathed a sigh of relief and went with Shari to greet them.

The four A400M transport planes carried 300 fully-armed Gaulish soldiers, as well as two attack helicopters.

Colonel Orleans, the officer in charge of this operation, saw Jia Gan and Shari and asked, ”Which of you is Mr. Federer?”

”Mr. Federer is in Mulonga Port,” Jia Gan immediately replied.

Orleans spoke with Jia Gan for a while longer, then ordered the transport plane crews to return to their military base in West Africa.

After watching the transport planes depart, Colonel Orleans ordered his communications team to establish a temporary communications station and radar post.

However, the Foreign Legion, having never clashed with the Homo Sapiens Company before, did not realize the gravity of the situation at that moment.

If it had been the United States Army, they would never have dared to send such a small special forces team into a chaotic region like this to confront the Homo Sapiens Company. After all, having suffered many losses, the United States Army and the Black Ship had learned their lesson.

Just as the Foreign Legion soldiers were proceeding with their tasks by the book...

As night fell, so did the danger.

Mosquitoes! And the invisible Blood Blade operatives silently infiltrated the camp.

A few communications soldiers were chatting idly when they suddenly grew dizzy. Before they could even speak, their mouths were covered.

MMPH... MMPH...

A feeble struggle, rapidly draining strength, and terrified eyes.

Three hundred Foreign Legion soldiers, plus the 500 private soldiers of the Federer Clan and the 176 airport staff members, were all neutralized in less than five minutes.

The Blood Blade Special Team and the head of the Foreign Affairs Division’s local commercial intelligence station quickly transported the captives in off-road vehicles to a nearby coastal beach.

Then, a fishing boat stuffed them into its foul-smelling hold.

These people would be transported to the Moon Islands.

Meanwhile.

Inside a luxurious villa in Mulonga Port.

Federer, brimming with self-satisfaction, was gathering the various tribal chiefs from among the Sakarawa people. More than twenty minor chiefs had just expressed their support for him.

However, the next second, Federer, who had just finished a glass of red wine, suddenly clutched his chest. ”Ugh... ugh...”

Sensing something was wrong, the people around him frantically called for someone to perform CPR and simultaneously telephoned for a doctor.

But it was too late. Federer had gone into cardiac arrest.

The crowd of minor tribal chiefs descended into chaos.

One second he was laying out his grand ambitions, the next he was lying on the floor. This made the minor chiefs feel that something was terribly wrong, especially at such a critical juncture.

Many of them instantly had second thoughts. After all, no matter how important it was to become king, it wasn’t as important as their own lives.

In less than half an hour, Federer’s villa was deserted, the guests gone and the tea cold. Only the high-ranking members of the Mulong Tribe remained.

Ignoring Federer, who still lay on the grand hall floor, they immediately began to scramble for power.
