Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

Chapter 416: Buying the broken mask

From MCʼs Perspective:

2 hours later,

The beast cart dropped me on the outskirts of the Capital City. From there, I decided to walk alone. Normally low-level wizards travel to the City on a walk.

Only wizards with certain wealth can afford transportation. Even paying for an air cab required a certain amount of wealth. Back at home, my parents used to give me some money.

Here Iʼm struggling to make money. This situation canʼt go on. While Iʼm walking along the road. I noticed some pedestrians. They seem to be from wealthy families.

After shifting my attention back to the trip. I began to contemplate. Before going to the station, I need to buy a mask.

”Hey, a fistfight broke out between young masters of the famous family last night”

”Really?”

”What happened?”

”They say that itʼs because of women from the Weapon Palace. She used her ice magic sword to injure opponents.”

Meanwhile, I stopped my footsteps after hearing their mumbling. I thought they were gossiping. So what is it about the ice magic weapon?

Victoria Shields is studying in the Weapon Palace. Is it her? Then shaking my head, I pushed down these throughs. First, I have to focus on my mission.

Whatever it is, I can gather information later.

Several minutes later,

I entered the Capital City through the gate. I immediately then spotted an air cab. I asked the cab driver to drop me at the nearest magic shop.

The air cab rose from the ground and started to move toward the location. Looking through the window, I found no suspicious activities.

Looks like the bloodline hall has failed to catch up with me. But if they find mission information they can send someone there. I have to be cautious.

The street was crowded with people. All of them are wizards. I guess itʼs no place for survival for regular humans.

A few minutes later,

The cab landed before the magic shop. After paying the amount, I stepped outside. Before me, it was an old shop built in a medieval style. But it got three floors.

Seeing people coming and going. I think the shop is quite famous. Then I walk toward the shop.

Creak~

After walking inside, I see staff handling customers. As I glanced over, I see one of the female staff who is quite free at this time.

Seeing her, I walked over and asked, ”Hi, can you help me with something?”

The female staff revealed a gentle smile and asked back, ”Can you tell me what you want?”

I replied, ”I need a mask to cover up my face.”

The female staff looked surprised before her expression turned normal. People who request these types of items usually are adventurers.

The female staff then went to collect the requested items. Seeing that I sighed inwardly. Itʼs good that she didnʼt ask for unnecessary information.

While she was busy collecting the stuff. I just looked around. Some customers are buying some items. But when I looked around the shop, I saw no trace of dangerous stuff.

All are modern-day magic tools. Some of them are mechanical tools with inscriptions written on them. Suddenly something caught my attention.

There is a mechanical bug placed on the rack. I find it interesting because itʼs a tracking bug made up of magic and modern technology.

This thing will be very useful to me.

”Ah, young man. What are you looking at?”

Suddenly, a voice reached my ears. When I turned around, I saw an old shopkeeper sitting behind the desk.

Shaking my head, I replied, ”Nothing.”

Though the items look interesting. I donʼt have the money to buy it. At this time the female staff returned with a few masks in hand.

The masks are made up of different skin qualities. Some of them are made with animal skin, wooden masks, and unknown origins.

The female staff placed the different masks on the table side by side. She said, ”Sir, come and take a look at this different mask.”

Hearing that I stepped forward and turned my attention toward the mask. A hint of surprise flashes in my eyes. The female staff is quite perceptive.

I can tell none of the masks looked costly. She somehow accurately judged my situation. I picked up a white mask and touched the skin.

The skin layer is quite smooth and silky. But I donʼt like the white color. After placing it back, I picked up the wooden mask. This mask is durable. Looks like it wonʼt break that easily.

But the skin layer is quite rough. Again, I didnʼt like it and placed it on the table. Iʼm not planning to use it. If itʼs a good mask then I can keep it for a long time.

Then all of a sudden I found the broken mask. The edge of the chin area was gone. When I touched the skin. I felt solid. I also like the black texture of the mask.

I donʼt know why? I got this feeling that itʼs battle-tested.

”How much does it cost?” I asked.

The female staff again revealed a surprised look. She felt the adventurer might be poorer than she had expected.

”Sir, itʼs a broken thing. Why donʼt you buy a better one,” She said.

I waved my hand and said,”, Black color is my favorite.”

The old shopkeeper is heading the conversation between these two. Suddenly, he suggested, ”Sir, if you wear it in the future, you can be easily mistaken for a wicked wizard. Even I forgot the existence of a broken mask.”

”These people,” I said in my heart. Itʼs starting to get annoying. Then I answered, ”Letʼs leave it then, I can buy it somewhere else.”

After saying that, I turned around to leave.

”Wait up. If you are that stubborn, you can buy it, ”The old shopkeeper said with a sigh.

A few minutes later, I walked out of the shop wearing a black mask on my face. Now I look good.

The broken mask was cheaper than I had expected. I bought it with a few alliance points.

Then I booked an air cab to the railway magic station.

Several minutes later, the cab landed on the platform in front of the station. After paying the amount, I head toward the station.

Though my appearance caught the attention of a few people. But none of them troubled me. Because itʼs quite normal here. But if you bump into security guys, then you donʼt have a choice other than to verify your identity.

I walked inside the building and quickly found my platform area. The magic train to the Weden City will arrive shortly. Itʼs quite thrilling to walk on your own.

I see various kinds of people waiting on the platform. Some are with their family and some are alone. But I see no one with weapons. Maybe itʼs because of the rules here.

Itʼs forbidden to use magic in the areas of public transport. After gaining some clarity, I waited for the train to arrive.

A few minutes later,

A medieval-style train arrives at the platform. Seeing that a look of bewilderment appeared on my face. I remember traveling in slightly modern trains back home.

What is with this city? Itʼs because it looked fancy. When I was lost in thoughts. The people began to board one by one.

Retracting my thoughts, I quickly found my compartment. After entering inside, I found my seat to sit down.

Phew~

The small hurdle was over. And fortunately, I booked the window seat for the journey. With this, I can avoid conversations with unknown people.

Shortly after, a family of three came.

A couple in their forties sat in the opposite seat. Their son who appears to be 10 years old sat beside me.

The young boy who looked excited to talk shut his mouth after looking at my black mask. Not only him, even the couples looking at me warily.

Iʼm happy with the development and I donʼt want to strike up a conversation with them either. I shut my eyes and waited for the train to depart.

Meanwhile, the young boy looked towards his parents. Both of them assured him with a smile.

But deep down the couple has second thoughts. Itʼs not good to associate with unknown people. Especially people with suspicious identities.

And the passenger in front of them is wearing a black mask. How come they feel alright about it?

Since the person is minding his own business. The couple decided to do the same as well. But the 10-year-old boy is having different thoughts. He couldnʼt contain his inner curiosity and at the same time, he canʼt remain silent.

His parents were reading the books to pass the time. But what is he supposed to do? When he glanced over other seats. He didnʼt find anyone of a similar age.

When the train starts to depart. The young boy patiently waited for some time before turning toward the stranger wearing the black mask.

Seeing the personʼs eyes were closed. A hint of disappointment flashes in his eyes. His parents would scold him if he woke him up.
