Chapter 842: Chapter 838: The World in Darkness

Watching Xiao Tian as he tried to persuade the crowd, the old man’s gaze unknowingly became distant, as if he was lost in memories...

...

The old man’s name was Lu Yangrong, and over a hundred years ago, he was a celebrated figure in his own time, establishing his own sect and recruiting disciples at a young age.

With his exceptional strength and beloved approach, he managed to gather a group of top-notch experts to support him in expanding his sect’s influence, swiftly establishing a significant reputation.

Many traveled long distances, drawn solely by the golden name of Lu Yangrong.

Among his numerous disciples, he indeed discovered many extraordinarily talented individuals, awaiting proper cultivation, who would undoubtedly become influential figures in the future.

As a result, Lu Yangrong’s sect was the talk of the town, with potential to become a top-tier sect within decades.

Indeed, with normal progression, given Lu Yangrong’s intellect and cautious yet daring approach, this was almost a certainty. By advancing steadily step by step, it wasn’t impossible to achieve.

However, the emergence of a supreme treasure piqued Lu Yangrong’s interest, interrupting what could have been a significant Chapter in the annals of history...

That treasure was, of course, the present-day Shaking Light Disc.

Upon learning of the Shaking Light Disc’s whereabouts, Lu Yangrong, without a second thought, rallied his forces and immediately headed to its location.

At that time, the situation was nearly identical to what everyone else experienced, and he played the role that Xiao Tian now fills.

After being absorbed into the internal space of the Shaking Light Disc, Lu Yangrong initially managed to handle the situation with ease, but as time went on and his judgments increasingly faltered.

He even paid a bloody price, and it was unsurprising that some began to doubt him, accusing him of using others’ lives to verify his so-called theories.

In reality, Lu Yangrong’s judgments weren’t too far off; even if there were errors, they weren’t significant enough to risk lives over, and unexpected outcomes were more due to personal errors than objective reasons.

However, regardless of his logical explanations, the cold, hard fact remained that lives were lost, undeniable by any argument.

When Lu Yangrong carefully explained his discoveries and techniques to everyone, he was met with skeptical gazes, his charisma seemingly losing its effect.

In hindsight, Lu Yangrong was overly naive, envisioning others as understanding as himself, assuming they’d comprehend what he did, so he offered little explanation.

But the consequence of this was an eruption of everyone’s grievances; previous misunderstandings turned into reasons to doubt him, and they clung to their judgments, discounting Lu Yangrong’s eloquent defenses.

Ultimately, overwhelmed, Lu Yangrong fell, consumed by darkness, finally grasping a profound truth—that one should never assume those around them are as intelligent as themselves!

The world never lacks fools, but what’s terrifying is those fools who believe themselves to be smart.

Such people not only lead themselves to ruin but also drag others down with them.

As for what Lu Yangrong thought the moment before being engulfed by darkness, only he would know.

Yet Lu Yangrong avoided recalling it, because each memory brought searing pain, as if his organs were roasted over fire, driving him to madness!

Afterward, harnessing his exceptional insight and strength, Lu Yangrong clung to a faint trace of life, using his resentment as motivation to slowly understand and ultimately merge into this space.

Thus, to some extent, Lu Yangrong claiming to be the former or even the current master of the Shaking Light Disc is not unwarranted!

Of course, without a physical body, he could only linger here with a trace of life; leaving this world would immediately obliterate him, scattering his consciousness completely.

...

Awakening from his reverie, Lu Yangrong’s cold gaze surveyed those below, like animals in a cage, indulging in what he found amusing actions, and he found the scene quite engaging.

Until he inadvertently glanced at Xiao Tian staring into the darkness, his gaze involuntarily changed, though only for a fleeting moment, before returning to a spectator’s amusement.

He eagerly anticipated seeing Xiao Tian break down in despair, trying in vain to convince those around him!

However, his hopes may have been in vain...

At that moment, Xiao Tian suddenly moved, heading towards the infinite darkness that everyone else feared and avoided as taboo!

”No!”

Witnessing Xiao Tian’s unusual action, Tao Zhenghao instinctively called out to stop him, then, realizing something amiss, added, ”Have you considered the consequences, and Hanhan’s feelings?!”

Actually, Tao Zhenghao had thought about venturing into the darkness himself, but he dared not act impulsively, choosing instead to observe.

Seeing Xiao Tian, less capable than himself, wanting to venture into the darkness, he deemed it suicidal.

Tao Zhenghao’s conviction was based on his observations.

With his strength, he couldn’t be certain of safely emerging from the unpredictable darkness, much less Xiao Tian’s seemingly reckless plan, which seemed to him nothing but a death wish!

But upon hearing Tao Zhenghao’s words, Xiao Tian only paused momentarily before striding into the darkness without hesitation, exuding an effortless grace!

However, the crowd evidently didn’t think such grace was worth emulating, staring dumbfounded as Xiao Tian walked into the darkness, unable even to move a finger...

After a while, the crowd finally processed what just happened, growing even more frantic, huddling together to discuss anxiously, ultimately focusing their gaze on Tao Zhenghao...

...

Crossing into the darkness, Xiao Tian found himself enveloped in absolute blackness, where he couldn’t see his hand in front of his face.

Blinking his eyes, he realized there was no difference between having them open or closed, so he closed them and resolutely strode in one direction.

In no time, he sensed light ahead, finally feeling reassured, confirming that his speculation was correct.

Opening his eyes, seeing everything around as he envisioned, Xiao Tian smiled sincerely and confirmed one thing.

The old man hadn’t deceived them; within this boundless darkness, one truly could wield creator-like power, altering the world before them with a mere thought.
