Fang Ze nodded.

”That’s right. I either have to find my brother or his assassination target. I have to find one of them, but I don’t have a single clue right now.”

”Jiang Ran, can I ask you for help? You’re incredibly smart, and you know East Sea City and East Sea University much better than I do...”

Jiang Ran considered it for a moment.

’There’s actually no downside to this for me,’ he thought. ’Back in the Future Prison in 2045, the Assassin had so many secrets, but I could never find a breakthrough.’

’But now, with his own brother’s help, getting some information out of the Assassin from twenty years in the future... shouldn’t be too difficult.’

Besides, he was also worried about who the Assassin’s target actually was.

’Is it really Teacher Zhang Yang?’

’It couldn’t be me, could it?’

Remembering the Assassin’s almost supernatural agility, Jiang Ran rubbed the back of his neck and felt a chill.

’It’s probably not me.’

’An assassin wouldn’t forget the face of someone he killed. If I was his target, he wouldn’t have been so calm when he saw my face—the face of someone he’d personally killed—back in 2045.’

’Then his target...’

’Who could it be?’

”No problem, Fang Ze. I’d be happy to help you.”

Jiang Ran stood up from his chair and extended a friendly hand to Fang Ze.

”It’s just that there’s too little information right now. It’s hard for me to analyze anything useful.”

”You and your brother were once very close. You must have picked up on some other clues, right? Can you tell me anything else important you can think of?”

Seeing that Jiang Ran was willing to help, Fang Ze also stood up and shook his hand.

”Of course! Thank you for agreeing to help me!”

”Well, way back in the beginning, right after my brother sorted out our family’s troubles and made his first big score... He wasn’t that old then, and he wasn’t very tight-lipped. In his excitement, he accidentally let a few secrets slip.”

’Secrets?’

Jiang Ran’s ears perked up. The Assassin’s secrets were exactly what he wanted!

”Back then, my brother was only seventeen or eighteen. He excitedly told me he’d joined an amazing organization. He said, ’As long as you complete the tasks they give you, you can make up for all your life’s regrets and make any wish come true!’”

Jiang Ran remained silent.

’Make up for life’s regrets... make any wish come true...’

’Isn’t that the omnipotent Lilith?’

’Could the organization the Assassin joined be connected to Lilith, Zhou Xiong, and the film company that bought my script?’

”It sounded like a cult from the very beginning.”

Fang Ze grimaced.

”How could something so ridiculous exist in this world? Making up for life’s regrets, making any wish come true... That’s something only God or a deity could do.”

”Obviously, my brother was deceived and used by this cult. He must have naively believed their words, and that’s why he became their tool for killing.”

”Later, whenever I tried to bring up the organization again, he’d always change the subject. He flat-out denied ever joining it, which only made him seem more guilty.”

”This organization... do you remember its name?” Jiang Ran pressed.

”I do.”

Fang Ze narrowed his eyes.

”It’s a cult that uses ’making up for life’s regrets’ as a front to lure people in and use them!”

”Even though my brother would never admit it, I still remember the name he said only one time—”

”The Regrets Mutual Aid Association!”
