Genius Playground

Huh?

Huh?

This time, it was Dean Gao Yan and his assistant’s turn to be surprised.

’That went so smoothly?’

’He agreed so readily?’

’This Jiang Ran really doesn’t play by the book...’

”I’ll write the recommendation letter right now!”

As if afraid Jiang Ran would go back on his word, Dean Gao Yan picked up his fountain pen and began to write, the pen scratching furiously across the paper.

The letter was addressed to East Sea University, the body explained the matter, and the signature at the end read ”Gao Yan.”

A completely handwritten recommendation letter spoke volumes about its value.

Jiang Ran took the recommendation letter and glanced at it.

”I looked at East Sea University’s graduate admissions requirements. They need a joint recommendation from three academicians.”

”Hehehehe...”

Dean Gao Yan gave a knowing smile and patted Jiang Ran’s shoulder.

”Son, you just take this letter and go report to East Sea University. If they say there aren’t enough signatures, you bring it back to me, and I’ll get you thirty more!”

...

He walked out of the hotel and onto the street.

Jiang Ran let out a long sigh of relief.

He clenched his fist.

’Perfect!’

’With this, two of my biggest worries are settled!’

’Once the next semester starts, I can go straight to East Sea University for my graduate studies. Plus, my advisor will be Zhang Yang, who owes me a favor. It’s the perfect start.’

’Once I get to the main battlefield of East Sea University...’

’...I’ll find the Film Club’s senior, search for data on the Positron Cannon, wait for the super genius Lu Yu to enroll, and dig up clues about the Time Travel Machine.’

’Everything will fall into place naturally.’

’As long as I succeed in any one of these things...’

’...I can save Cheng Mengxue and return to World Line 0!’

The process was far more convoluted than he’d imagined, but as long as the final outcome was good, then all’s well that ends well!

”First, I’ll head back to the university.”

Jiang Ran folded the recommendation letter.

”According to procedure, I have to go to the university and take care of the paperwork first.”

...

Thirty minutes later, Jiang Ran was back in his dorm room.

”Huh?”

He saw that all five of his roommates were there, but every one of them was hanging their head, their morale at rock bottom.

”What’s wrong?” he asked, confused.

”What’s wrong?!”

Roommate #1 slammed his hand on the table, shot to his feet, and pointed at Jiang Ran.

”Look at the mess you’ve made!”

With that, he passed a notice from the desk over to him.

Jiang Ran took it, and his eyes went wide.

”A withdrawal notice?!”

He looked again.

He wasn’t mistaken.

It was actually his own withdrawal notice!

It stated that student Jiang Ran, due to a continuous one-month absence from class and a failure to change his ways despite repeated warnings, was now being processed for withdrawal.

Good grief...

Withdrawal.

Such a strange and distant word.

Withdrawal. To put it nicely, they call it ”withdrawal.”

To put it bluntly, it’s expulsion. There’s no such thing as being ”advised” to withdraw and choosing not to.

”This is a bit much, isn’t it?”

Jiang Ran felt he was being wronged.

”I miss a month of school, and they just expel me?”

”You have the nerve to say that!”

Roommate #2 was both saddened by his misfortune and frustrated by his lack of fight.

”Our university is so strict! The fact that they tolerated you skipping class for a whole month before expelling you is already the height of benevolence!”

”Jiang Ran, what is wrong with you! Everything was fine, but you wouldn’t listen to us, your brothers. Now you’re screwed!”

Jiang Ran waved his hand dismissively and tossed the withdrawal notice onto the table.

”It’s fine. It’s not the end of the world.”

”How is this not the end of the world?!”

Roommate #3 sighed.

”You won’t get a diploma! You wasted your college entrance exams!”

”Exactly! And you’re here grinning like it’s no big deal!”

Roommate #4 stomped his foot in anger and glared at Jiang Ran.

”What have you done! It’s so hard to find a job these days! Our degrees are already seen as second-rate, and now you won’t even have a diploma. How are you going to compete with undergrads from four-year universities?!”

”It’s simple.”

Jiang Ran turned around, smiled faintly, and unfurled the recommendation letter in his hand.

”I’ll just go to grad school, won’t I?”
