Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2199: Sandy Dunes

Sylas watched in silence as Earth forced itself onto a new plane. He was unmoved, but those around him… that was a different matter entirely.

Cassarae and the Duchess both had buckets near them. Almost instantly, they turned over and started to hurl.

This had little to do with morning sickness. The real problem was that if people couldnʼt handle teleportation on a large scale across even galaxies, how would they react when this effectively happened across an entire plane?

Right about now, the entire of Earth was suffering those effects in real time. Maybe some were handling it better than others, but it could be said that of whatever fighting force Sylas had had, he was probably the only one standing right now.

It certainly didnʼt help that he had sped things up significantly. Earth wasnʼt anywhere near ready to be on the Demi-God Plane, and whatever shielding that the World Spirit might have prepared to stop this, well… the short of it was that it certainly wasnʼt here now.

Sylas was definitely going to have to keep this in mind for when the Sanctum elevated itself. He had about nine to ten more months to get ready for that.

Rhykan had sped up the timeline for the Sanctum, and unlike Earth, Sylas didnʼt have any control of where the Sanctum was going to appear.

So not only was he going to have to find that location, he was going to have to grow strong enough to do something about it very soon.

But given the calm expression on Sylasʼ face, he didnʼt seem to be very worried about that.

He cast a look toward Cassarae and the Duchess. He wanted to take care of them, but unfortunately he was pretty sure he wasnʼt going to have the luxury to do that.

He looked through the formations that protected Earth toward the distance.

Earth went ahead first. The process was going to come in several tiers, but he was going to have to act pretty quickly.

Obviously, he had taken the Milky Way for himself. The trouble was that finding space for an entire galaxy, and even the Sector beyond it, wasnʼt going to be so easy.

Sylasʼ original intention was to just push everything else out of the way. But in the last several weeks, he decided that that wouldnʼt be viable.

It might buy him time in the short term, but in the long term, it would make more enemies for him.

So the better path forward was simple.

Conquer.

What was interesting about the way Legacy of Key worked was that by triggering a challenge against the Legacy of something, he was naturally coming to comprehend it and also gain its acknowledgement.

Sylas had realized that if he put the Demi-God Plane in a state of limbo, one where his galaxy and Sector were prepared to replace what was here, but hadnʼt quite done it yet, he could trick the world into thinking they were one and the same.

There was, of course, some resistance. However, if he used Legacy of Key at the same time, cleared challenges, and gained acknowledgement… He could create a situation where he could trick the World Spirits of these territories. Of course… Legacy of Key was just one pillar to all of this.

The other… was World of Key.

—

[World of Key (???) (Legendary)]

[A clever little shit, indeed. As expected of someone who cares little for the rules of others and dictates things by their own whims and cadences. It is little wonder the dividing lines between worlds means little to you.

[Use this device to manipulate worlds as you please. Go on and fuck shit up, itʼs not like you care, anyway.]

—

So, for once, Sylas decided to listen. He really wanted to see just how much he could ”fuck shit up”.

And that started here.

His first task?

Clear out a path for Earth.

His eyes landed on a planet that was entirely devoid of water and seemingly life. It was formed of sand dunes and swirling storms of dusted earth.

Sylas pulled out Legacy of Key, his eyes narrowing.

The world he was targeting shouldnʼt look like this. It was wrong. For a moment, he thought that he had ended up in the wrong location.

The first thing he had had Elara do for him was find a good starting location for Earth. And since he planned on snatching the Karma and location of the first world he was targeting, it had to be a good match for Earth.

He didnʼt believe that he would make a mistake, and he didnʼt believe that his sister was stupid enough to make such a foolish mistake either. So something else had to be wrong.

”I see…”

Sylas double checked with Legacy of Key, and he wasnʼt wrong. The world he was looking at had once had a bright and lush atmosphere to it as well. It wasnʼt as strong as Earth, of course—not even close.

But certain compromises had to be made if Sylas actually wanted a chance of conquering. It wasnʼt like he could target the best match as it would almost certainly have S-tiers on it.

He and Elara had to perfectly pick a region they could actually manage with a small bit of pressure. But this…

ʼSomeone has killed this planet.ʼ

Sylas frowned. Was the information Elara got so outdated? Or did it happen so quickly.

ʼNo.ʼ Sylas shook his head. That shouldnʼt be the case.

Elara likely knew the current state of this planet, and yet had still sent it. He believed his sister would have good reason for that.

Communication between the planes wasnʼt so uncomplicated, especially not when Elara was probably in the process of running for her life right now.

ʼIn that case…ʼ

Sylas vanished and appeared high above Earth, but just beneath its formation of swirling patterns of water, his gaze calm and unhurried.

Right now, because of the path he was picking, his Progenitor abilities were dulled and wouldnʼt properly return until he cleared out a path for Earth.

So… he was going to have to make this quick.

His sister needed him.

Sylas exhaled and power thrummed through his veins.

Chi.

The space around him collapsed and when he appeared once again, he positioned on a sea of sandy dunes.
