Genetic Ascension

Chapter 828  Control

The light in Sylasʼ eyes almost bordered on madness. It wasnʼt that he looked manic; his face was still the picture of sharp calmness. But all his insanity was buried deep within his eyes, almost as though he was hypnotizing even himself to believe in his current thoughts.

There was a dense Demonic Will stirring within his chest.

After being suppressed once by him not long ago, it came back with an even more furious vengeance now, pulsing through his body in dense tendrils of darkness that ebbed and flowed with the very same cadence as his blood.

It wasnʼt a System Oath, and yet it felt no less potent. He wasnʼt going to let Cassarae die, not like this.

He was already weak enough to land himself in such a situation to begin with. All he had to do was win — just winning would have been enough. But not only did he lose, he lost consciousness in enemy territory.

It was because of his own incompetence that he ended up in this situation.

And now, because of that very same incompetence, Cassarae had ended up triggering a Gold Leg to a Quest that could have had a much easier target, and by extension, it would require a Legendary Leg that was even more substantial on top of that.

All because of him.

He had always thought himself to be capable, to be strong, to be disciplined. But he found himself failing again and again in this world.

The rules he was used to, the order, the rigid structure of things… it wasnʼt there anymore.

Or maybe it was there, but his vantage point was no longer high enough to see through it all, nor was there a strong enough facade to maintain the guardrails that he could use.

The only way to change things, the only way that he could go back to the Sylas he wanted to be — the Sylas who didnʼt stand at the top of the world purely because of personal choice and no other reason…

He had to grow stronger.

He had to Be Strong.

He had to…

”Sylas…”

The voice was far softer than any of the other times Cassarae had called out to him, but it somehow managed to cut through nonetheless.

She had uncrossed her legs and removed her arm from across her chest at some unknown point.

Her skin was such a silky caramel, the faint, toned lines of her abs eking out from beneath its softness with every breath she took. Her breasts almost had an unnatural perkiness to them given their size, sitting there as she slightly leaned back like a pair of dew drops, her faintly darker nipples staring at him as though with their own pair of eyes.

The way her ass pressed into the soft cushion of the mattress accentuated her wide hips all the more, enough to make a man salivate.

Despite the maelstrom of thoughts Sylas had just been caught in, in the end… he was still a man.

Actually, he had seen quite a number of women naked in his life. Unfortunately for them — though he was sure they had spun their own stories — those situations had ended much the same way his first attempted time with Cassarae had gone.

But the reasons were very different.

When he was with Cassarae, he almost couldnʼt control a primal desire deep within him, a desire to conquer, to lord, to claim and mark his territory.

When it was other women… even when they were quite attractive, he just didnʼt care enough to get it up. Often, he played with their bodies out of curiosity, almost like he was tweaking one of his venom vaccines. But in the end, he never took that final step.

Right now, though, with a single word, he could feel Cassaraeʼs intentions.

In the end, in this entire world, she was still the woman who understood him the most. She wasnʼt in love with a caricature of who he was. She knew exactly what sort of man he was, and it was that she loved so much.

She knew what he liked most.

Control.

And right now, things were spinning far too much out of his hands. Things were getting larger, too large for him to account for every factor, every variable like he liked to. And it was overwhelming him.

But… there was something that he could control. Something that he was capable of asserting his dominance over.

The last thing Sylas wanted was to be comforted and coddled. Or rather, even if you were going to do so… it was important you knew how to do it.

It had been a long while since Cassarae spent her every waking moment with Sylas, so much so that she had almost forgotten how to do it.

But at the most critical moment, she had.

It wasnʼt exactly how she would do it in the past. But, she had a feeling that this would be even more effective. And she also felt that she might enjoy this more than any of the others.

Her legs opened, her thighs pressing against Sylasʼ hips.

For a long while, Sylas looked at her, the darkness in his eyes swirling.

She had seen this gaze before. That day, on his 17th birthday, he had looked at her with the same pair of eyes. But back then… he had suppressed it.

This time…

He didnʼt.

Sylasʼ armor flew off of him, leaving a hulking mass of man looming over her.

Cassarae half expected to find herself pierced through again and braced herself for impact, but that was most certainly not what happened.

Instead, it felt like she had begun to take a small, peaceful trek up a hill, until that hill became a series of wild peaks and valleys, her heart lurching to every change.

She completely forgot the details of what happened that day, because by the time Sylas actually penetrated her, her eyes had practically permanently rolled to the back of her head.

Then, she received the pounding she had been daydreaming about for so long.

Her screams would have leveled Castle Main had it not been for the barrier she smartly put up ahead of time.
